Wii Fit

Here's an introduction to the Wii Fit.

Seems pretty cool, eh?

Check out this spoof - watch the whole thing, it's hilarious.

BarTopDancer 08-01-2007 09:07 PM

LOL.

I want a Wii.

Gemini Cricket 08-01-2007 09:15 PM

That looks cool.
Not sure how simulating hitting a soccerball with your head makes you fit...
:D

I'd totally get that if I had a Wii.

CoasterMatt 08-01-2007 09:19 PM

When I read the title, the sick side of me thinks...

"Why would you want to play having a seizure?"

Just where would you put the wii-mote? Bonus points for loss of bladder/bowel control?

Gemini Cricket 08-01-2007 09:25 PM

Waitaminute here.
This commercial's racist.
Black people dance and Asians do yoga.
Psshaw!

:D

That second video was very funny. I watched the first thinking, "Wow, that is so cool." Then, I watched the second and thought, he's right, that's kind of lame. Such is the power of well-delivered snark.

Check out Sarcastic Gamer's take on Microsoft Surface, right there on the sidebar when you watch the second video.

Buying our Wii was a mistaken impulse buy. I love the technology that went into it but since that first weekend we've put in a grand total of about 30 minutes of playtime.

I admit I thought the Wii Fit thing was pretty stupid but it is cheaper than most of the crap home exercise equipment people buy and at least it can be used for other things.

scaeagles 08-02-2007 04:50 AM

I love our Wii, but I don't think the Wii fit will be in our future.

That's exactly what happened to me. :D

I know we won't buy it, but I could see us getting it as a gift. (I'd prefer the steering wheel, which will be out soon.)

The Microsoft Surface one isn't as funny, but the last couple lines make it worth it.

Mousey Girl 08-02-2007 10:03 AM

Boy wants a Wii. He is using the whole exercise thing as a way to try to get me to buy one.

Ponine 08-02-2007 10:07 AM

see, in my house?
Grandma used that logic to get one for the boy....

What, you don't want the sword and shield controller extenders?

BarTopDancer 08-02-2007 10:16 AM

I want one. I'll use it if someone buys it for me!

*eyes get glassy and huge* Reaaaally??

Dude. I've been hacking my way through Zelda for months now, I could sure "use" these :D

Cadaverous Pallor 08-02-2007 03:38 PM

Uh-oh.

Alex 08-02-2007 03:41 PM

Yeah, Guitar Hero III could be the thing that gets some regular use out of the Wii. I am almost to the point of putting the Wii in the closet so that I can plug the PS2 back in for Guitar Hero but the purchase is still too recent for me to admit I wasted the money.

Ghoulish Delight 08-02-2007 03:48 PM

October's almost here...which means Guitar Hero AND Mario Kart. Squeee!!!!!

Chernabog 08-02-2007 03:56 PM

Hahah the Wii Fit looks ok if it gets you off your arse, but I want the REAL DDR when it comes out. The yoga stuff is great but.... real yoga is better.

And I can't see this being a substitute for 30 minutes of ACTUAL cardio.

But it IS better than absolutely no physical exercise, of course! I might get it, if it is under $50.... but with that accessory (haha "goes with anything from Ikea") who knows how much it'll cost.

I still think DDR would be a better cardio workout than all that. But if you normally wouldn't do push ups unless the Wii was telling you to do so... then I say go for it.

Disneyphile 08-02-2007 04:08 PM

This would actually encourage me to buy a Wii. I think it's great.

And, I'd have to get the sword and shield too. ;)

That's one thing I like about the Wii - it encourages people to get off their butts.

Keep in mind though, they have made many games that dont require you to move from your chair at all.
You have to purchase the RIGHT games.

You could sell it...they're still a hot commodity, even used.

I have my pre-order deposit in for GHIII. :-D

Before Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy come out? Tsk tsk.

BarTopDancer 04-22-2008 03:12 PM

The Wii Fit comes out at the end of May. $89.99. Amazon has it available for pre-order with free super saver shipping. The reviews say it's good for flexibility and strength, but does not replace cardio exercise. That's what boxing (or you know, going outside to exercise) is for.

I ordered it, and once I use it, I'll post a review.

Chernabog 04-22-2008 03:32 PM

Cool can't wait to read the review!!! I'm sure it'll be good for you in the way that yoga is good for you. $90 is a little steep though I think for the Wii Fit. I was thinking more in the $60 range.

I just rewatched that parody video (from the OP) .. .so funny. "The Wii Fit goes with anything from IKEA...." ;)

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 04-22-2008 03:45 PM

"Wii Fit looks great...with anything from IKEA."

Hah!

BarTopDancer 04-22-2008 03:49 PM

I think the demand is starting to slow. I managed to buy one on ebay that cost me $5 more than what the one purcahsed retail and shipped to me by a friend cost.

Ghoulish Delight 04-22-2008 04:34 PM

Nintendo seems to finally be catching up with supplies. My brother in law who works at Toys R Us said they got a shipment in on Sunday, as did all other retailers in the area, and they didn't sell out that day.
