Bat's Day?

I am trying to decide if Nickolas and I are going to the park on Saturday or on Sunday.

Is anyone going to be around on Sunday for Bat's Day?
Is Bat's Day any busier than a normal weekend in summer?

Ghoulish Delight 08-06-2007 10:01 AM

It doesn't really make a significant dent in overall crowdedness. There are a few temporary bottlenecks it causes (hub/castle meets, mansion meet), but nothing hugely disruptive.

innerSpaceman 08-06-2007 10:40 AM

So is Goth (Bat's) Day Sunday the 19th?

If so, I'll be there.

(We spent so much time in the Grand Cal this past weekend, we got nostalgic for the days of lounging there. No day's better for that than Goth Day, when one must stay out of the sun between the noon Hub photo and the evening Mansion Meet.)

Capt Jack 08-06-2007 11:09 AM

reminds me of something I saw this weekend. lil (maybe 14 years old) goth girl with an actual tan. jet black hair, leathers and black clothing. pentagrams and the whole gamut. yet had a hawaiian tropic tan....

a truly odd visual combo

alphabassettgrrl 08-06-2007 02:05 PM

I'll be there! :) I might even be dressed in black.

Kevy Baby 08-06-2007 03:29 PM

I should go to one of these. Goth chicks can be hot.

But if I go, I am wearing a loud Hawaiian shirt. Sort of the "anti-goth"

Mousey Girl 08-06-2007 03:42 PM

Crap! I totally lost a week somewhere!

I am thinking this weekend, not the 19th, which is Bat's Day. Boy won't be home on the weekend of the 19th. That is a visitation weekend.

I feel really dumb right now.

I can say for certain we will be around on the MA weekend.

lizziebith 08-06-2007 03:54 PM

My favorite! Hope to go this year -- all depends on the job/financial situation.

Morrigoon 08-06-2007 04:21 PM

19th eh? Hmm... that should be enough time to throw a skirt together. (Last year's outfit apparently wasn't goth enough, so this year I'm thinking something along the lines of a bustle skirt in black. Or at least a long black skirt with way too much gathering in the back ;) Never know what I can get through the front gates, after all.

Look behind the refrigerator: I saw something roll that direction.

alphabassettgrrl 08-06-2007 10:06 PM

If I don't get my black outfit together then I'll wear white.

CoasterMatt 08-06-2007 10:43 PM

I'll just roll up in leopard print and if I can find them, my neon chaps.

alphabassettgrrl 08-07-2007 09:55 AM

It won't be any wierder than the rest of the kids in the park.

TheatreTech 08-08-2007 05:36 PM

I asked for the weekend and the following Monday --for recovery purposes-- off months ago.

So, in case there was any doubt, I'll be there all day.

Awwwww I can't wait to see the photos -- you are always the highlight of Bats Day :)

dingdong2u 08-09-2007 10:25 PM

I'll be there too as long as my car holds out. It's not a happy camper right now. :(

Is anyone planning on having a group dinner at the park? I know we can't do Blue Bayou anymore (it's wayyy out of my price range now) but would love to have dinner with some of you at Cafe Orleans or somewhere else that evening. A few years ago it was great sitting down with NotAfraid and a bunch of you for dinner at Blue Bayou during Bats Day and wouldn't mind doing something similar again. :)

By the way, according to another web site, the Riverbelle Terrace will be going down for rehab the day after Bats Day. So, if any of you would like a greasy chicken dinner before it closes, now's your chance.

And just as a final reminder, a new Mickey pin shaped like a Bat will be released on Bats Day. Details and a picture can be found here:

http://eventservices.disney.go.com/p...g/pin?id=27323

Buy one, buy two, buy some for your friends? :)

Now where did I put those fishnet stockings?

Morrigoon 08-10-2007 02:44 PM

I would consider Cafe Orleans. :)

BTW, I am *so* tempted by this bit of silliness right now.

Morrigoon 08-10-2007 04:09 PM

That bat pin!!

Would this probably sell out? Or, be available on line? Advise, please!

My daughter would love this one. :snap:

According to the Disney Gallery Pin Trading web site the bat pin will be Open Edition so it probably won't sell out. But with everyone there for Bats Days you never know.

You may want to try calling Disneyland® DelivEARS Merchandise Guest Services at 1-800-362-4533 or send an e-mail: DLR.DelivEARS@disney.com to place an order. :)

€uroMeinke 08-12-2007 12:47 PM

So...apparently Bat's Day is next week and not today as I had thought. Some day I'll learn to use my calendar

BarTopDancer 08-12-2007 12:54 PM

Sunday is Bat's Day and Friday is Marylin Manson.

I gotta go shopping!

Morrigoon 08-12-2007 11:03 PM

Saturday: Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at the Hollywood Bowl
Sunday: Bats Day
Monday and Tuesday: Seminar in San Diego

Busy weekend

Mousey Girl 08-13-2007 06:56 AM

I wish I could join you all on Sunday. Between not having Boy and fundage issues... It looks like our next trip over the Grapevine will have to wait until our October trip.

innerSpaceman 08-13-2007 09:54 AM

So, um, Goth Day ... anyone???

Bueller?

Morrigoon 08-13-2007 09:57 AM

Totally.

Morrigoon 08-13-2007 10:25 AM

Crap, I just realized I'm probably not going to be able to stay all day. Might even miss the Mansion event :(

Still, I'll be there at the hub.

edit:

In the immortal words of Henry Higgins, "Damn damn damn DAMN!"

I have to be at the San Diego Convention Center by 7pm.

alphabassettgrrl 08-13-2007 11:36 AM

I'll be there. :) Hopefully in black.

GoTh Day tOmorrOw

Still one of the most fun theme and fashion days of the Disneyland calendar. :snap:

BarTopDancer 08-18-2007 08:39 PM

I'm thinking I'll be there.

I have part of an outfit planned out.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 08-18-2007 10:42 PM

So...

I saw 1pm Castle pic.
8pm Haunted Mansion!

I'll be there!

Turns out that's next week.

blueerica 08-19-2007 08:07 AM

And here I was hoping this was the one I could attend. Go figure that this is the busiest weekend I've come across in probably the last year. :(

Have a lot of fun for me!

Mousey Girl 08-19-2007 02:57 PM

I hope everyone is having a blast!!!

CoasterMatt 08-20-2007 06:17 AM

'53 Coco Cadillac Martini at Hearthstone Lodge = The YUMMY!!!!

It was fun, but a VERY misinformed goth called me a "normie"- oh how mistaken they are...

alphabassettgrrl 08-20-2007 09:58 AM

Yesterday was so much fun. :) I think some of my fireworks pictures are even decent. Lying on my back, balancing the camera on my knee, and using a 2-4 second exposure is not exactly the best of all worlds. But it's what I had available.

Link upcoming.

innerSpaceman 08-20-2007 10:13 AM

That was, hmmm, the nicest Goth Day like ever.

First, and maybe even foremost, it was not all that hot. There were beautiful clouds all morning that kept the Park, well, a bit muggy ... but blessedly free of direct sunlight. And the clouds prettified the Park as a bonus. There was even a slight breeze blowing about the noon hour Hub fashion meet.

My decision to dress actual Goth all day instead of more comfortable punk, for the first time ever, was vindicated. :p

Also, much as I missed the bon amie of a large LoT contingent, it was somehow more "authentic" hanging with TheatreTech’s band of crazy, booze-guzzling, drug-tripping gothsters. We played with them quite a bit after the noon meet, and later kept cris-crossing with them, and the large MiceChat group, all day.

 At one point, all of us, and many others of the goth persuasion, descended on the unsuspecting Hearthstone Lounge in the day’s finale of air-conditioned refuge. The place was hopping, and the Hearthstone didn’t know what hit them.

TheatreTech was beautifully resplendent in an impossibly tight, purple corset. The effect of this, combined with his stove-pipe trousers and high heels, made him seem unnaturally stretched like a piece of human taffy. And with near constant adjustments, his make-up was always flawless and lovely. He’s a beautiful boy and/or girl.

Morrigoon was adorable with her gothed-out hair and simple dress, topped off by a pretty parasol. Gemini Cricket was smartly attired for his very first Goth Day in basic black, with a clever Salem Massachusetts t-shirt. I hope he had a good time, and will be back for many Goth Days in the future.

Ironically, attendance at the Hub Meet seemed to be down a bit ... in a strange inverse relation to how comfortable it was to be dressed in black in the Park at noon. But the Mansion meet was, as usual, overwhelming ... and the Goth presence at the Resort was substantial and eye-popping. (Heheh, it was almost more fun to watch the straights and their reactions than the Goths and their fashion choices. Hanging out with TheatreTech made for some especially excellent reaction moments.)

:snap: zapppop and I had a great Goth Day date, as usual. Same ol’ as it may be, it never fails to be fun ... and this was really one of the best of them. No Killer Heat ... who could have imagined?!?

Chernabog 08-20-2007 02:01 PM

PICTURES PEOPLE!! Jesus. :P

innerSpaceman 08-20-2007 02:39 PM

Well, I went to MiceChat this morning for the first time in forever (seriously, I had 491,105 unread posts, haha) ... but Norm's shots either weren't up yet, or I couldn't find them.

lizziebith 08-20-2007 02:58 PM

God I forgot Bat's Day?!? :(

Gemini Cricket 08-20-2007 02:58 PM

I had a great time at Bat's Day. I was really hot, though. Also, I had a touch of the blues but meh that's normal...

I'm glad I got to see all the Goth folk. Very cool. I'd go again.
:)

wolfy999 08-20-2007 03:11 PM

Even though I was with the Micechat group most of the day, it sure was nice to run into a few of the LoT swanks! TheatreTech as always was a sight (not a bad one) to see. He did actually look like stretched out licorice taffy! Great day with great people!

Archpope Däch usually takes some good photos of the day

CoasterMatt 08-20-2007 08:32 PM

This is the image that best sums up MY Bat's Day :D

There are some other pics, including fireworks from last night at http://picasaweb.google.com/CoasterMatt

Gemini Cricket 08-20-2007 08:39 PM

That's a great picture, Matt. If I wasn't so maudlin and Goth-like, I'd be smiling right now.

Chernabog 08-21-2007 12:32 AM

Awww I saw Fishbulb's report and y'all were definitely in some pics there. Morrigoon you look soooo cute!!!!

I still don't see a picture of Tall-y McTalltall (Theatretech) but I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere.

Cadaverous Pallor 08-21-2007 08:01 AM

Link

I demand a pic of Theatre Tech! He's always best dressed at the ball.

Glad you guys had fun! We were immersed in new computerness and barely left the house. Perhaps next year.

innerSpaceman 08-21-2007 08:19 AM

Arrrgh, the ligthing was bad on Fishbulb's photo of my FAVE lady, whom we saw at Haunted Mansion. OMG, she was in this floor-length, rich red and black brocade, Victorian gown ...her hair in glorious amber tresses of cascading curls down her back ... and the outfit was topped with a lacy black parasol. Sigh, you can't see the dress at all in the photo. Maybe something will turn up on the official Bat's Day site.

Also ... hmmm, no Fishbulb photos of TheatreTech.

zapppop was no use. Though he carried his camera all day, he only took photos of straights gawking at Goths ... none of Goths themselves.

Here's a couple of shots of the LoT swanks I ran into......

TheatreTech

Innerspaceman, Gemini Cricket and zapppop

innerSpaceman 08-21-2007 09:54 AM

And this Fishbulb photo is already quite famous:

Makes me wish Goth Day wasn't in the heart of summertime.

I'd rather the mood be more somber. This photo is
so evocative of what Goth Day should be.

The party that it is, is a blast. But, except for Gemini Cricket
refusing to smile all day, there wasn't enough Goth about it. ;)

innerSpaceman 08-24-2007 03:34 PM

ok, for anyone who doesn't keep up with MiceChat (um, me) ... Morrigoon posted some late photos there that illustrate stuff I posted about in this dead thread.

Here's the impossibly thin, scary skellington, corseted TheatreTech:

And here's the back of that lady in red brocade. You can certainly make out her curly amber tresses, and sort of grok the material that looked much more lovely in person.

That is all. :p

Chernabog 08-24-2007 05:25 PM

Awwwww Tall-y McTalltall makes such a lovely man and/or woman ;)

Morrigoon 08-24-2007 05:29 PM

Oh, sorry guys... I think I linked it from the Sooo thread instead of here (doh).

Why, thank you, sweetie.

I'm glad you were able to partake in and enjoy our afternoon mêlée.

They tell me I had a good time, I think.

I'd share more pictures had any of us taken any.
