Show us your pooch! Gad, I hope that isn't Australian slang for anything.

Here's my luscious beagle, Suze, doing what hounds do when they're not sniffing around or eating.

Lucy and Ethel both smile. There's a picture CM took at Disneyland over by the dog kennels of Ethel she just sat down in the bushes and smiled up at the camera. They are really happy doggies.

chihuahuas!!!!!

:p

AllyOops! 08-10-2007 03:33 PM

I, too, need this happy Thread!! Hip hip hooray & cheers to man (and girl's) best friend!

I love all of your pictures so much! You guys have the cutest sweetiepies! I miss my little snowpea (Sammi was her name, but she had a squillion nicknames, and the most common one was Bobo. Or Bobi. Or Little Bo Peep. Or Bobocitas (the AllyOops! spanish version). I also miss my boy Lab, Doc, just as much (who was also Docky. Docarooni. Yocky. Yockity-Doo-Dah). I pine for my little Labs. I would give anything to have my little pupcakes back in my life. Why can't they have the average human life span? :(

At least I have my boss's black lab, Shelby, in my life! She's my lil' buddy, and I spoil her to pieces. I used to call her "Spirit of Bobo" or "Bobo lives!" because she reminded me so much of my little Bobo. However, Shelby has her own little sparkling personality, so she's now just "Shelby" to me! :)

She's also 18 yrs. old, which is astonishing for a large breed canine! Of course, it means that I always worry about her and drive my boss nutty asking about her welfare every second!

Morrigoon 08-10-2007 03:35 PM

Now I don't feel bad for my litany of nicknames for Barnum: Poopy-doops, Poops, Poopy, Poopity-doops, Mr. Barnum Guy, PT Longbody, etc.

(Barnum answers equally well to Barnum or Poopy, yes Poopy)

AllyOops! 08-10-2007 03:49 PM

I love your nicknames for Barnum (and I just love the name Barnum)!! :) :snap:

My Sammi answered to both "Sammi", "Bobo" and at one time "Hoboken". Becuase she was so familiar with "Sammi" & "Bobo", her little collar nametag had both names printed on it.

It began as Hoboken, and I have no idea why, considering none of us are from the Garden State. Hoboken morphed into Seacaucus, (She was like, a tribute to Jersey cities), then into Hobukus, then into Seaboken, then into Bok Choy, then into Bobo, then into Bobi, Bobocitas, Little Bo Peep, and a squillion more that I can't think of! Eventually, she was christnened "my little snowpea." Poor Bobo. She had a gazillion monikers!

Aww! Right as I began typing this, Shelby wandered into my office. Always looking for treats. :) Her new nickname, I've just decided, is Beggy McGee.

Morrigoon 08-10-2007 04:08 PM

Okay, you just put a smile on my face Ally, thanks :)

Ponine 08-10-2007 04:39 PM

Ohhh nice puppies there. Chi's yay!!!! Ya what are you gonna do with the puppies? lmao...

Nicknames for Lucy are "LuLu" (especially since a character on General Hospital is LuLu well not spelled that way or "Foxy", "Tinkerbell" are among some of the ones i call her. she does respond to them believe it or not.

Ethel well i call her "Twinkie" or Eth for short.

I call them both "rats" sometimes too short for "ratatioulle"

Not Afraid 08-11-2007 10:03 AM

hehehe. Ethel LOOKS like a Twinkie!

LOL Not Afraid. She does with the little white in the middle (i.e. cream filling) thus the nickname "Twinkie"thanks to Matt stuck...lmao Right now they are both sleepin on the couch right next to me. Lucy with a huge grin on her face and Ethel on her back with a smile on her face. :)

Wonder if dogs dream of running in their sleep anyone know? Ethel is on her back sleepin away (snoring yes she snores) and i just glanced down at her and her paws were moving like she was running or walking. I was like oh wow cuz i never paid much attention. Yes she snores louder than a human does....lmao

Not Afraid 08-11-2007 12:00 PM

I don 't know what they dream about, but animals do dream/ Charles was just chasing a mousie in his sleep.

€uroMeinke 08-11-2007 12:20 PM

What I wonder is if animals know they are dreaming - that is distinguish dream life from waking life, and if not how that dream life shapes their waking life personality.

blueerica 08-11-2007 12:32 PM

Hmmm... Good question €... (I think I'm just going to directly respond to you on purpose because of my fancy € key...)

I've wondered that, too. As I think that dreaming is always an extension of the waking world (even if through symbolic imagery), I'd imagine it's much the same for animals, though perhaps with less introspection. I've always wondered if and to what degrees animals are introspective. I know they can be angry and upset, depressed, happy... but to what degree do they consider this, or are they just in a state of "being" -- I should look into this.

blueerica 08-11-2007 12:33 PM

After I clicked to send the post, I realized that I should be more dog-like in my nature. Just be. Stop all this silly worrying and just be glad that it's a sunny day.

Have a treat!

madmonkeygirl 08-11-2007 01:49 PM

Lucy lets me trim her nails but Ethel puts up a fuss about it yet when i take them into my store (PetSmart) it is the other way around. Lucy is the fussy one and Ethel is the cooperative one. So after i trimmed one of Ethel's toes after about 5 minutes of struggling and then she got a treat she is now resting in my lap and her head on my arm. Lucy on the other side of me.

Spoiler:

Matterhorn Fan 08-12-2007 01:40 PM

This thread needs more pictures of everyone's cute doggies. Far Side cartoons don't count (but that's a good one).

blueerica 08-12-2007 02:04 PM

Well, if I could have a doggie right now, these would be awfully nice...

As for a dog I will really have, it's hard to say. Once I'm out in Utah, we're going to start thinking about different breeds in light of some allergy issues (not mine). I'm still leaning toward the wire-haired dogs, since they seem to cause less allergy problems. Of course, I'm kind of into mutts; maybe we can find a wiry mutt.

Or a doxie. I still love little dachshunds...

Do you think she agrees?

How about dogs in blankets?

Matterhorn Fan 08-13-2007 10:48 AM

Well, it's darn cute for sleeping, but not really practical to walk a dog in a blanket around the block, you know?

3894 08-13-2007 11:39 AM

Shhhhhhhh! Baby's asleep.

Keep it comin', y'all. I just loves me some doggy pics.

These aren't mine, they're my brother's, but, they're sweet as can be.

This is Bonnie...

And this is Clyde.

I'm told that Bonnie was "framed" for her apparent crime in the photo above.

Morrigoon 08-13-2007 01:23 PM

Oooh! Doggy destruction! That's cute too! :)

And you know what else is cute? Anime doggies! This is my mom's dog, Chico. Or as I like to say (Pikachu style), "Chico chico!"

Morrigoon 08-13-2007 01:24 PM

Adding this to the "dogs in blankets" category:

3894 08-13-2007 01:28 PM

Dogs in blankets, eh?

Here's Suze modeling the Invisibility Shawl I knit from the newish book, Harry Potter Knits. As you can see, the shawl actually does work. Only Suze's nose is visible.

Munchkin disapproves of beagle tracking.

It's kind of odd to see stuffed rabbit toys in the pet stores as toys for dogs. I still love dogs and would love to have one alongside my bunny (especially a beagle)...but that would be interesting to pull off.
