Animal Crossing (Nintendo)

Yeah, it's an older game, but I'm addicted. Anyone else?

I have three towns, two characters, and I am hooked on time-travel. I'm going to be spending the next few days in Halloween, trying to collect the Spooky treats.

I just thought I'd share this, out of the blue...

Ponine 09-19-2007 02:28 PM

Now granted I havent played in three wekks... oh the roaches I will have to stomp!... but Halloween?!?!? Already?

What system are you playing on? GC or DS?

LibraryVixen and I are both on the DS. I got all the cool fruit from her.

lizziebith 09-19-2007 02:39 PM

I have the DS, but I don't like it as much (too hard on my old eyes). Mostly I play my GC version. I use one of my towns for major time-travel since I've paid off my house, caught everything, and don't like any of the animals there. That's why I'm in Halloween now! ;) It's become my "collecting" town: I'm going for all the furniture sets, outfits, weird items. I've got bells to burn, baby! :D

In my newest town, I've got all my favorite animals (Rosie, Blaire, Spike etc.) so I'm very strict about playing in real time and paying lots of attention to them. I maneuvered those animals into moving there, so I don't want to lose them!

I actually love stomping roaches and seeing their little ghosties!

For Halloween this year, my son and I are going as our characters from AC! I've already bought everything -- just need to get sewing...

ETA: I just remembered that there is no Halloween on the DS. :( Another reason I prefer the GC version. I'm also not sure if TT is possible either on that platform.

Ponine 09-19-2007 03:25 PM

Depends on what you mean by time travel.
My kid does it all the time. I'm forever weeding his town.

Hmm.. he hasnt let me play the GC version. (cause its his GC, and my DS Lite) maybe I should try.

Disneyphile 09-19-2007 03:55 PM

Gah!! I didn't know you all were on AC for DS!

I'll look up my friend code tonight and post it. :)

lizziebith 09-19-2007 04:14 PM

I need to do that too! Too bad the DS is so hard on my eyes or I'd play it more.

Time-travel: my son used to do and I'd whine about the weeds, until I discovered Wisp'll clean 'em up for you. Now I use TT all the time to hit up anything I've missed, like turnip sales or holidays. I don't know if there's a Wisp in the DS version.

My son and I play the GC version together all the time: we have three towns on memory cards and we travel between them. We exchange furniture and fruit and visit the island where we have our joint cabana. It's a lot of fun! We'll waste away an afternoon playing back and forth. He loves it because he's such a gamer and this is the one game I play with him. :D

Disneyphile 09-19-2007 04:47 PM

Ok, here's my code:

Name: Teresa
Town: Magicia

I'm intrigued and off to look up what in the heck you guys are talking about!

FEJ 09-19-2007 04:57 PM

I have it on the GC and DS.
Haven't played it in a while. I am gonna get yelled at by the mole. :)

The irony here , for me, is that LV and I played together for the first time on our trip for YOUR wedding.

So what does one do with the friends code on the DS? I wandered around for an hour last night trying to figure that out.

Disneyphile 09-20-2007 10:42 AM

The friend code is in animal crossing. From the menu, click on the little heart icon, and you'll see a place to enter your friends.

It works over Wi-Fi. :)

I was sure it had to be the guards at the gate.
Oh well. I weeded while I wandered around.

Animal Crossing (Nintendo)

libraryvixen 09-21-2007 02:12 PM

I have to get the Wi-Fi!! :)

Ponine had woken up early, hijacked my DS... and weeded!! lol
She also hid cool stuff for me to find when I had finally had the chance to play again!

Nephythys 09-25-2007 08:52 PM

Nephythys 10-18-2007 12:08 PM

neener- got your Nookingtons yet?

Disneyphile 10-18-2007 04:36 PM

I've got Nookington's, and currently have blue hair! (I keep changing it every time I play.)

I've also got two side rooms to my house now, thanks to you. :D

I'm usually on at night lately, while unwinding from moving/cleaning stuff.

Nephythys 10-22-2007 07:41 AM

You're welcome- all thanks to the Stalk Market :)

lizziebith 11-26-2007 07:34 PM

Here are the Animal Crossing costumes I made for the boy and I for H'Ween this year. After his initial enthusiasm, my now-teen decided he wouldn't be caught dead near his friends wearing this, so this pic pretty much sums up the wearing experience. Dang, it was a lot of work, though! But I never got the bell bags finished... :(

lizziebith 12-14-2007 02:10 PM

So I was looking for some help with a Holiday activity on my AC:GC, when I came across the following satires? fan-fic? Well, I don't know how to categorize them, but they are extremely diverting!

The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing -- Due to language, NSFW. Hilarious, but you have to wade through pages of SA forum commentary between each chapter. I'm not through reading it yet; in fact I don't want it to end!

Creepy and disturbing -- which is probably why I liked it! Much shorter than the above, probably okay for work.

This one's probably apocryphal, but get out your hankies! Okay for work, if piano music doesn't offend.

Think that's enough time-wasting for today...:D

Disneyphile 12-14-2007 02:32 PM

I'm in hysterics over that second one. :D :snap:

lizziebith 12-14-2007 09:18 PM

Okay I just finished the story in the first link -- it was incredible! Turned out to be even more twisted than I could have imagined. Anyway, it turns out the author just finished the story as well...and the town he used for the screenshots online (the "camp") has just opened for visitors, so we can all go and say hi to the "characters!" Brilliant! I'm charging up my DS right now...:snap:
