Puffy AmiYumi - HOB Anaheim 11/18

Anyone interested in seeing Puffy AmiYumi? I can get some presale tickets for $20 (plus evil charges). It's a Sunday night.

Gemini Cricket 10-10-2007 09:29 PM

Nani?

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 10-10-2007 09:46 PM

I'm in!

mousepod 10-10-2007 09:47 PM

Sounds like a fun night. I haven't bought tickets for Ween @ the Wiltern yet... and I have seen them semi-recently (with €uro and NA)... hmmm....

blueerica 10-10-2007 09:55 PM

Hmm more musical fun... But, I'm going to guess that I'll be opening that Monday. I will have to see what wonders I can work with my work schedule. Or what happens to the rest of my schedule

Mousey Girl 10-10-2007 10:18 PM

Their short lived cartoon pretty much killed any desire to ever want to see them live.

Gemini Cricket 10-10-2007 10:28 PM

"Nori!"

It all started when we first met,
And strapped on our guitars!
We made music so great and good
That soon we were rock stars.

With tons of screaming fans.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 10-10-2007 10:31 PM

Is there a suicide pact for after the show???

DreadPirateRoberts 10-10-2007 10:33 PM

I know this is probably a stupid question, but how do you guys know all about these bands I've never heard of?

Not Afraid 10-10-2007 11:17 PM

We're dorks.

BDBopper 10-11-2007 07:59 AM

Wow. I remember the cartoon...and suddenly I miss it. It disappeared one day and I forgot about it.

BarTopDancer 10-11-2007 08:12 AM

Sounds interesting!

Moonliner 10-11-2007 08:13 AM

I have no knowledge of this Puffy AmiYumi of which you speak.

However I did just purchase tickets to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra when they come to town in December. Are the two groups similar?

NirvanaMan 10-11-2007 09:14 AM

I believe I heard them this weekend. In.

In this case, your kids dont watch the right cartoon channels. This band, I had actually heard of.

Got it. If we ever have a Hannah Montana swanking, I'll know what you are talking about. ;)

Me too.

Ponine 10-11-2007 11:05 AM

Exaclty. And when we have $700 a ticket to pay the scalpers. :p

Moonliner 10-11-2007 11:11 AM

Ok now Ms. Montana/Cyrus I know. We were able to beat the Tickermaster fastdraw and score 3 seats for headliner to her concert in January.

And then we can get all pissy cause our kid "has" to see Miley and we "had" to pay scalpers because Disney should have had more/cheaper tickets.

Oh and speaking of that. The WSJ had an article on why it was so hard to get tickets for the Hanna Montana show. It's them pesky scalpers once again...

BarTopDancer 10-11-2007 11:31 AM

Wait. This conflicts with the Griffith Swank. Now I'm confused.

€uroMeinke 10-11-2007 05:49 PM

I have no idea about the cartoon, but I love Japanese Pop Bands - so I hear two ins and a few maybes?

NirvanaMan 10-11-2007 10:00 PM

I'm confused with the dates of Griffith swank as well. Is there a conflict?

€uroMeinke 10-11-2007 10:15 PM

Looks like there is potential for that, depending on how late that goes

blueerica 10-11-2007 11:25 PM

I will likely be in. I'm tempted to get a pre-sale ticket and do whatever I have to around it.

OK, I'm in. Wait, wait, wait... Let me double check my syllabii.

blueerica 10-11-2007 11:30 PM

Yeah, I'm in. If I absolutely must, I'll just lose out on the ticket or give it to someone here, though it looks like I should be clear!!

With enough planning both could be done.

How long does it take to get from Griffith to Anaheim?

€uroMeinke 10-22-2007 09:31 PM

I have picked up 5 tickets for this event for myself and:

Not Afraid
ElizaHodgkins 1812
NirvanaMan
Blueerica

Tickets still available at ticket Master for anyone else who wishes to join

blueerica 10-22-2007 11:25 PM

Yes! This will be fun!!

Perle 10-27-2007 03:07 PM

I'm so jealous!! Maybe I'll catch the show up here at SF's Fillmore. Is anyone going to go in Cosplay?

NirvanaMan 10-27-2007 03:30 PM

Solid.

blueerica 10-27-2007 06:01 PM

Sweet!

CoasterMatt 10-27-2007 06:18 PM

I might be able to make this one...

Would black latex chaps and leopard print everything else count as cosplay?

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 11-13-2007 07:36 PM

What are the plans for meeting up?

€uroMeinke 11-13-2007 09:13 PM

Hmm - we have none yet, there is a park nearby for someone wanting to make a day of it. Sometimes dining at the HOB gets you early entry, or there's the AP Lounge...

€uroMeinke 11-19-2007 02:27 PM

Well hat was fun - I'd love to do it again.

Sadly no pics, anyone caught taking a picture (even with cellphone) was expelled from the venue. But I'm ready to quit my job and become one of the PuffyAmiYumi back-up dancers.

Not Afraid 11-19-2007 02:43 PM

Great show! Lots and lots of fun! It's nice to have a great view from almost anywhere in the club because you happen to be taller than 99% of the attendees. Poor people behind me. ;)

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 11-19-2007 02:44 PM

I feel your pain NA! ;)

I thought about going, just the whole Hannah Montana at the Park detered me.

I know what you mean. People don't know what a curse it is to be tall.

Oh, I think those behind you know all about cursing.

€uroMeinke 11-19-2007 03:28 PM

Eh, the girls behind us were sitting on the bar, so ith ink they were fine.

I'd like to add though that seeing NA sing along to the Teen Titans theme songs was a show in itself.

NirvanaMan 11-19-2007 04:30 PM

F'in awesome. If only I could look like Angus Young with a Panda on my head. I aspire to achieve such levels of success.

Not Afraid 11-19-2007 04:54 PM

OMG! I saw the "Angus Young " connection too. Wern't we standing next to each other?

blueerica 11-19-2007 06:00 PM

I had so much fun last night! With the exception of a really bitchy white-girl in front of me (I know - like I don't look white to most people...) I had a fantastic time. I was next to a bunch of little Japanese girls, which in case you didn't know, are the cutest thing next to little Thurston.

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 11-19-2007 06:06 PM

I want to shrinky-dink those Puffy Ami Yumi girls and keep them in my pocket. Puffy Ami Yumi Tamagotchi pets! My adorable new Japanese pocket pals will help me to fight crime whilst always keeping me entertained.

Somewhere in Japan exists a might power source from which all Japanese pop / punk rock stars get their energy. They are freakishly peppy at all times.

Moonliner 11-19-2007 06:28 PM

I do need to toss out some love to Big-€ for starting this thread.

As a result of this tread I listened to a bunch of Puffy AmiYumi songs. Their theme song and "Tokyo I'm on my way" got stuck in my head....

Two days ago my kids were talking and happened to mention the show. I of course broke out into my best: "Hey, Hey, Puffy AmiYumi Show... We made music soo sweet and pure that...."

The looks on their faces: Priceless.

Thanks. :snap:

I prefer them full size. As to what they do in my pocket, well...

They were hot. In a ridiculously cute, punk, baggy clothed, polite Japanese pop star way. So yeah, totally hot.

Thurston likes Puffy AmiYumi. Chris says it's because it's J-Pug.

Not Afraid 12-05-2007 12:27 PM
