Righty or leftie?

Brain, that is.

This is the freakiest, most fantastic right-brain/left-brain test I've ever seen.

Is she rotating clockwise or counter clockwise? For me, she started one way when I was reading, and went the other way when I was looking at her - now, depending on what I'm concentrating I can get her to switch back and forth. Trippy!

Capt Jack 10-17-2007 10:48 AM

clockwise. although I can force her to go the other way

BarTopDancer 10-17-2007 10:51 AM

She is mostly clockwise but changes depending on what I am reading.

DreadPirateRoberts 10-17-2007 10:56 AM

That is cool. It goes clockwise for me. The only way I could get it to switch to be counter clockwise, was to use another window to block out most of the body, then concentrate only on the legs. Once I got the legs going counter clockwise, I could move the window and watch her go counter clockwise, but only for a few seconds, then she went back to clockwise again.

Morrigoon 10-17-2007 11:01 AM

That's EXACTLY what happened to me, DPR! I see her clockwise, and no matter how hard I tried, she stayed clockwise unless scrolled down to block her upper body. I was able to keep her counterclockwise scrolling back up (with effort), but soon as her head appeared she was back to clockwise.

flippyshark 10-17-2007 11:04 AM

This is a way cool optical illusion, and it doesn't hurt that it features a naked chick. As for the whole right brain/left brain idea, I recommend the essay at this link:Science or the New Phrenology?

Ponine 10-17-2007 11:07 AM

Clockwise, and I cannot make her go the other way.

Me too and me too.

alphabassettgrrl 10-17-2007 11:31 AM

Clockwise and she won't change.

innerSpaceman 10-17-2007 11:33 AM

Heheh, someone sent this to me yesterday. If I look away, it will switch directions when I look back.

Does that mean I use both sides of my brain equally. Or is the direction I first saw the dominant one.

I'm told if you look carefully at her feet, you can see them turning both directions at once.

Not Afraid 10-17-2007 11:46 AM

I'm apparently firmly right brained. But, if you read the description, it fits.

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

That's what she does with me too!

It is a cool optical illusion but the right brain/left brain stuff is just BS that has been added on by somebody as it moved through the internets. This is about the third time I've seen that make the rounds but the first two times it was just presented as a cool optical illusion without any mention of brain dominance.

Here's a Yale neurologist talking about it. Neat, though; I go through periods where I can switch her at will (there are tricks to it but I usually forget them between viewings) to being perpetually stuck in one direction no matter how hard I try to switch it.

Gemini Cricket 10-17-2007 12:30 PM

I just made it switch directions.
If I concentrate on the foot that she has on the ground, I can do it.
:)

innerSpaceman 10-17-2007 01:10 PM

I think it's more a bisexualilty test with which way the nude girl spins, than it is a left-brain right-brain thing.

Gemini Cricket 10-17-2007 01:35 PM

Major mojo to LSPE.
My entire office is huddling around computers trying to figure out how to change the direction of the spinning chick.
:D

Prudence 10-17-2007 01:43 PM

Mostly counter-clockwise, although using the looking-only-at-the-legs trick I can make it flip to clockwise. The default, however, is counter-clockwise.

mousepod 10-17-2007 03:19 PM

When I started, it was counter-clockwise - then I read for a bit, and she was going the other way. It takes a bit of work, but I can change her direction... does this really mean anything (other than that it's a cool optical illusion)?

BarTopDancer 10-17-2007 03:34 PM

It means your mind has the power to control the interwebs.

Gemini Cricket 10-17-2007 03:44 PM

Extra mega-mojo for LSPE. My office is still talking about spinning Sally. (The swing shift started coming in.) AND our other building ten minutes away is now talking about it, too. (I sent them the link.) :)

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 10-17-2007 04:48 PM

Clockwise, at first. Then both ways so that now I can switch back and forth.

Not Afraid 10-17-2007 05:08 PM

Chris will be especially pleased to know the EH1812 goes both ways. ;)

€uroMeinke 10-17-2007 05:13 PM

Clockwise at first but I can switch back and forth - while quickly opening other windows as I'm not sure if nude sillouettes are kosher in the workplace.

blueerica 10-17-2007 09:16 PM

I started off counter clock-wise, and it was like that for a while until she started going the other way. Sometimes when I look away and look back, she's going the same way, others it changes... I don't seem to have much control.

ETA: Okay, I guess I can control it, though she seems to easily go both ways. Weird illusion though - first time I've seen it. Major mojo!

Motorboat Cruiser 10-17-2007 09:48 PM

That is pretty damn cool, LSPE. Thanks for sharing!

libraryvixen 10-17-2007 10:20 PM

Trippy LSPE! :) It's almost all clockwise for me and when I really concentrate, she goes counter.

CoasterMatt 10-17-2007 10:31 PM

Clockwise...
