Googling yourself

Yeah yeah, it's a game as old as time, in internet terms (that is to say, it's a few years old), but it's a fun one, nonetheless.

Apparently I was left homeless by Hurricane Katrina, LOL: http://www.masonryconstruction.com/i...ticleID=564029

How about you?

DreadPirateRoberts 10-17-2007 11:10 AM

Apparently, I have my own myspace page. I wish I'd done a better job, but I am 13 years younger.

BarTopDancer 10-17-2007 11:19 AM

I'm deep underground.

alphabassettgrrl 10-17-2007 11:29 AM

I'm a photographer in Santa Rosa. I get a lot of election stuff left over from 2004. And there are some sites devoted to Kerry blue terriers.

The real me? Not found by google.

Gemini Cricket 10-17-2007 11:32 AM

It leads to my meager imdb.com page. :D

Capt Jack 10-17-2007 11:39 AM

aparrently I died in 2002

:(

I already hate this game

(:p )

Are we supposed to pick the first one that's not us? My name is not common, so most of the searches are actually me.

JWBear 10-17-2007 11:48 AM

I am a Hollywood producer who died in 1999 at age 82. :(

My "son" (JW jr) is a big-shot CEO. Who knew!

Edited to add: And black, apparently.

Not Afraid 10-17-2007 11:49 AM

I'm not me.

Alex 10-17-2007 12:23 PM

Mostly it is me. Though for a while a guy who works for the Department of Transportation in Minnesota vied for dominance.

Morrigoon 10-17-2007 12:52 PM

Steph: just anything that amuses you

Snowflake 10-17-2007 01:06 PM

I've written (and published) over 50 books, this is totally news to me.

Oh, and I've got one lone credit on imdb, too.

Strangler Lewis 10-17-2007 01:08 PM

Other than myself, I'm an Arizona engineer into amateur rocketry.

innerSpaceman 10-17-2007 01:08 PM

Eh, 99.9% of what comes up is really me. LoT posts, other message board stuff, my el jay, old mouse pad trip reports and the like.

Dullsville.

BDBopper 10-17-2007 01:23 PM

Ohh this is fun!

Apparently I died in 2005 in a car accident on an iced up I-70 in Colorado.

Also I was the Director of Program Acquisitions for PBS from 1978-1980.

It seems I also work at Isle of Man Finance in France.

I was an executive producer of an episode of NOVA.

And that was only the first page of results!

katiesue 10-17-2007 01:43 PM

Hmm I have video game credits - who knew? And it is really me.

Prudence 10-17-2007 01:46 PM

My name is too weird - they're all me. Mostly work, a few school awards and such, a couple SCA listserv posts, and my linkedin profile.

sleepyjeff 10-17-2007 01:54 PM

I am a Doctor in Tampa and a Baptist Minister in Fresno......my wife is a world famous Romance Novelist:)

LSPoorEeyorick 10-17-2007 02:17 PM

In order...

I ran the Rude Mechanicals Shakespeare company. (Yes, that's me.)
I am producer at Jetset Studios. (Yes, me.)
I'm a funky artist (not me.)
I am interested in water therapy for my ailing pooch (not me.)

Hey, GC, you lucky unusual-name, you... Tom has a star on the walk of fame (not really his) and several IMDb entries (one of which is actually his.)

Chernabog 10-17-2007 02:30 PM

Hahah I'm a writer/producer.... and Morrigoon you will be surprised to know that I graduated from USC!

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0506485/

I'm also a jazz fusion drummer from Gibraltar. Who knew?

Kevy Baby 10-17-2007 03:07 PM

Inspired by Cherny, I started with IMDB. It appears I was not only an uncredited actor (playing First Schoolboy) in the 1966 film Farenheit 451, but also in the 2003 The Lord of the G-Strings: The Femaleship of the String. Despite what you might believe, I was NOT in that movie.

According to Google, I am also:
  • A Product Manager in Toronto
  • Was hired by Bio-Matrix Scientific Group Inc. as their CFO in March 2005 (Hmm... I wonder if I still have that job?)
  • I am a lawyer for Mason Thomas in Roseville, CA. Here is what I look like:
  • Apparently I am also a lawyer for Goldfine & Bowles, P.C.
  • Wrote an article on "Emerging Technologies in the IS 96 Curriculum Model" for Angelo State University

It is funny how vanity searches change over the years.

Ponine 10-17-2007 03:16 PM

Well, when I google my birth name, which means no hyphen, I get many results, but all spelled wrong, so after three pages I give up.

When I google the name I use, with the hyphen, the first two pages are all me.
Except one.

Quote:

People will travel from as far as 60 miles. People like ** and *me*, who will emerge from the program feeling spiritually renewed. People like a woman named Bonnie who had an abortion 30 years ago and who will cry with joy listening to the testimonies as she finally realizes Jesus loves her and forgives her. People like Marlys Keenan, a local newspaper reporter who has nine stories due the following evening. But still, she'll come.

Why?

Because about three years ago, Marlys was, in her own words, "starving to death, spiritually." Then, she started reading the Diary of St. Faustina, written in the 1930s by a Polish nun who received extraordinary revelations from Jesus Christ.

Many of the 100 people who will come for the day-long program, called a "Day of Reflection," picked up the Diary at one point in their lives and could not put it down. For hearts that are broken, for lives that seem in ruins, for souls who yearn to know God and who seek closeness with Him, the Diary tends to have that effect.
But I have no real idea what thats about.

mousepod 10-17-2007 03:31 PM

My name is probably unique, so it's all me...

cirquelover 10-17-2007 03:36 PM

Woohoo it says I'm in the WNBA. Isn't that amazing for a gal who is only 5'1"?
I'm also a DR, and a young college student from Canada!

RStar 10-17-2007 03:47 PM

I was married married on 29 Mar 1855 in Jackson Co. Damn I look good for my age!

I use to weigh 375 lbs, but recently lost 150 lbs!

I died on sept. 11th, 2002. (Perhaps that's how I lost all that weight!;) )

And I was appointed Executive Officer of USS Anderson.

Oh, also, I was in the fourth MouseAdventure. But that really was me! ;)

Morrigoon 10-17-2007 04:07 PM

Okay, so I did the imdb thing...

Apparently I was the executive producer on a "A Wild West retelling of Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol," with Scrooge as a land baron, gunfighter, and card cheat who is visited by three spirits who attempt to teach him the true meaning of Christmas." starring Jack Palance.

For which, you shall never be forgiven.

scaeagles 10-17-2007 04:16 PM

I am the founder of an ice making company, and also the son of a famous German anarchist.

I also did the IMDB thing, and discovered I was an actor in the movie Dark Romances, Vol. 2. The tag line for that movie?

On imdb I got nada with my current name. My maiden name with some slight varations on Katherine I was in Natural Born Killers.

Actually a question I had the other day. If you're a Catherine with a C can your nickname still be Kate? And would it then be Cate?

No; it would be "Consuela"

€uroMeinke 10-17-2007 05:40 PM

I'm a film producer living in Berlin, where I also have made some techno music and have recently started my own lable featuring minimalist electronic music. Lately I've been doing theatrical design. I also have a dopplganger who's a security guard in the midwest.

blueerica 10-17-2007 09:05 PM

Apparently I'm a freelance writer in Los Angeles.... wait....

Oh yeah, third result down is the other me, a (probably now graduated) middle schooler who did pretty good in her middle school band.

lizziebith 10-20-2007 11:27 AM

All me but one: apparently I am also some sort of Health Volunteer in Stockton. The rest of the entries are either related to my various Star Wars clubs, or hubby.
