Saturday Gathering

Spawend from the Soooo thread - anyone want to do anything Saturday night (besides iSm who already has plans?).

We were tossing around the idea of Katella Deli for dinner and then something else (TBD) after. Anyone up for this?

Capt Jack 10-26-2007 10:55 AM

I need to be able to pick multiples. I cannot possibly choose between boobs, tacos and suckage.

BarTopDancer 10-26-2007 11:02 AM

You should be able to choose more than one.

Capt Jack 10-26-2007 11:08 AM

eh, too late. already voted. no big, I chose one I can live with under nearly all circumstances

So you chose "Y'all suck"?

katiesue 10-26-2007 11:25 AM

Wish I could make it but we're having a sleepover and then a pumpkin carving party on Sunday. Have fun!

BDBopper 10-26-2007 11:29 AM

BOOBIES!!! ROFL

BarTopDancer 10-26-2007 11:31 AM

OK, so the after gathering is at KatieSue's house!

;)

innerSpaceman 10-26-2007 11:32 AM

Why is this called thread called Saturday / Sunday plans when all the poll options are for SATURDAY ONLY?

Excuse me, BTD ... but this is not an ordinary Saturday night. It's the Saturday night before Halloween - - which, newflash here, is the prime night for Halloween Parties each and every year.

You're the one who's inspired my urge to go to Katella Deli .... and I asked, now that we are finally planning a get-together there ... if we could not have it on the prime night of Halloween parties.

Disneyphile said she and Frodo Potter also have a party that evening, and would otherwise like to go to Katella Deli.

If you're trying to come up with something to do this Saturday night ... why must it be the thing some of us who have parties on one of the biggest party nights of the year also want to do???

Steve,

Not all of us have plans tomorrow night. So those who don't, who want to go, why can't we go? Why must we plan around your parties? We can go again soon. It's really not a big deal.

Morrigoon 10-26-2007 11:49 AM

I thought there was a separate contingent going Sunday anyway?

Come on down I've got plenty of pumpkins for everyone. And a Holloweentown marathon - woo hoo!

But, but... you bitch!

(Just kidding.)

If Ken and I miss out this round, then we'll catch the next one.

Get over yourself ISM. It is just a small, hap-hazzard get together. Katella Deli isn't going anywhere soon - we can go again some other time. Heck, we can make it a regular thing.

I know I am not up for a party this weekend (and I haven't been invited to any, so it works out) and I am interested in going. It may only be BTD, Susan and I, and that will be fine.

S & I would not be able to go next weekend (11/3) as we are going to a huge Halloween party then (if the couple who throws it takes a week off before to set up for the party and then another week off after to clean up and recover from said party, I would say it is huge).

innerSpaceman 10-26-2007 12:45 PM

Kevy, we've talked about going to the Katella Deli for 2 and half years. It is only now just happening.

I don't appreciate any talk of another one being around the corner ... because it's bullsh!t.

There was talk about the Katella Deli in the Soooo thread, yes BTD started that yummy talk. Then I posted that we should go there soon. And as soon as BTD posted 'let's go Saturday,' I posted that I couldn't make it Saturday, could we please pick another night.

I didn't invent Katella Deli ... but I think it's kinda rude when I suggest doing something, that it's done on a night when I can't do it. I didn't wait a few hours or days to say that night doesn't work for me. I posted that within five minutes of Saturday being suggested.

Sheesh.

Whatthefu<keva!

But don't give me crap about another Katella Deli outting being around the corner. This one is 2+ years in the making.

blueerica 10-26-2007 01:04 PM

Dayum....

Seriously, ism, if you want another Katella meet, then you can start one of your own. Truth be told, and I'll say it again, BTD and I were talking about this in IM about doing this on Saturday, before she posted anything about Katella... Thus... it don't matta when you suggested anything, at least not to us and our original plans.

That said, I'm seriously doubting whether anyone's going to end up at Katella Deli. I don't know why, but that's my feeling, especially since we may just try and do something else that would put us in Irvine - completely the wrong direction if we're going to be doing a Katella Deli thing.

On that note, this is all what we make of it, and anyone and everyone who might be reading this - don't make too much of it.

ism, since you've got what sounds like a fun weekend planned and those of us who got left in the dust are just trying to come up with something to do, please give it a rest. You can make another meet of your own choice and time. I live close and could eat there next week, being just as happy. ;) And the week after, and the week after, and the week after...

innerSpaceman 10-26-2007 01:21 PM

My apologies erica, and perhaps I missed it, but I don't think there was anything in that thread about you and Marla planning on your own to go to Katella Deli this Saturday. Either of you could have just said so (and thank you for saying so now), and stopped this whole annoyance on my part.

Because otherwise, it looked to me like - in reaction to round 68 of Marla trumpeting the wonders of Katella Deli, I posted in the Soooo thread, 'let's go soon' and she said 'how 'bout Saturday?' No mention that was because you and her were planning on going Saturday.

So I says, 'I'm busy that day, can we pick another night?' Without knowing that you and Marla had privately planned to go on Saturday, it looked to me - again not claiming to have invented Katella Deli - that I sugggested we, as a group, finally do it. And Marla picks a night that I say right away is not good for me.

Without knowing of your previous plans, that just came off kinda rude to me.

Starting a whole new thread about it just rubbed salt in .... especially when the thread is called Saturday/Sunday plans as if we're going to choose between those two days by honest vote ... but there's NO otpion to vote for Sunday.

And Kevy, we're talking about Saturday and Sunday ... nothing to do with next weekend, when you guys have a Halloween party to go to. But rest assured, if I were planning something you and Susan wanted to attend, I would do my best to avoid planning it for a night you were otherwise engaged with a Halloween party.

This whole thing is now obviously a big misunderstanding, and I'm sure some of the perceived slights were not malicously intended. And yeah, not everyone can be available for every thing.

But I sensed a serous drop in the level of common courtesy afforded to friends, and thankfully Erica cleared up that I didn't have the whole picture.

(Still doesn't explain why a Saturday/Sunday choice poll has no options for Sunday. Freudian, perhaps?)

BarTopDancer 10-26-2007 01:36 PM

Steve,

This whole thing started between me and Erica. We were going to go there for dinner and started talking about it in the thread. Then we decided to see who else wanted to go. If you can't go, you can't go. Deal with it.

If you wanted to go that badly before then you should have planned a meet for it.

Stricken because I saw your reply to Erica. Not deleted because it still stands.

And Saturday/Sunday was posted because I was at work and was doing two things at once.

Disneyphile 10-26-2007 01:42 PM

Well, there's at least six of us who can't go on Saturday, so that's plenty for another meet. Maybe we should do a seperate poll for Sunday?

BarTopDancer 10-26-2007 01:47 PM

So me, Erica, Kevy and Susan so far.

And anyone who wants to is welcome to come over and chill at my place later (in Irvine so it's not terribly convenient) or perhaps we can go to Disney or do something else fun.

belleh5 10-26-2007 01:48 PM

Y'all suck!:p I can't make it Saturday cuz I'm taking Taylor to a Pumpkin patch party in San Jose and I live too far. I've never heard of Katella Deli, it must be pretty good if everyone wants to eat there.

Get over yourself.

Going to KD is NOT A BIG DEAL. It is simpler than organizing a noon Hub meet, and much less of a big deal. It's dinner (or lunch)... nothing more, nothing less.

Go ahead: Sunday or some other day. I may have plans for Sunday. I was looking for something to do on Saturday and hoped to get together with friends in a low-key event.

Its dinner folks. I need it on Saturday (and most days). This whole situation has been blown WAY out of proportion.

ETA: I am going to start a SEPARATE thread about a "meet" for KD in November so maybe we can have a more formal get together.

It's good, but not worth all the fuss that this thread has stirred up!

Not Afraid 10-26-2007 02:02 PM

I can't go either days so I don't think anyone should be able to go.

Disneyphile 10-26-2007 02:08 PM

Matzo balls make great projectiles.

I'm just sayin'! ;)

Well in that case... MOVE!

PARTY AT LISA'S!

Not Afraid 10-26-2007 02:20 PM

Yeah and if I get any sicker, you'll need to bring KD to me!

Disneyphile 10-26-2007 02:26 PM

Cool! What time is the party at Lisa's?

Not Afraid 10-26-2007 02:27 PM

We're leaving about 8 to go to the MOCA opening, so any time after that is fine. ;)

Disneyphile 10-26-2007 02:27 PM

Sweet. :D

Disneyphile 11-05-2007 11:47 AM

Ok, Nephy and I said "screw it" during her recent visit, and had dinner at KD on Thursday.

That place is gooooooooooood. But, I like Canter's better. So, I think we should have a Canter's meet instead. :p

Nephythys 11-05-2007 12:08 PM

T'was nummy scrummy for certain- HUGE menu and good food. The smells in the bakery were divine. If Canter's is better I am in such trouble!

Gn2Dlnd 11-05-2007 12:19 PM

Eesh, Canter's is instant heartburn. Junior's Deli at Westwood and Pico is light years better. You can get mini latkes as a side, instead of fries with your sandwich. Yum. Canter's is all about being open all hours and the entertainment value of 800 year old cranky ass waitresses, not so much the heartburny food. The bakery stuff is great, though.

Disneyphile 11-05-2007 12:24 PM

Mini latkes? Oh, that would be SO bad for me if that place were closer...

Gn2Dlnd 11-05-2007 01:14 PM

Many mini latkes.

Nephythys 11-05-2007 01:17 PM

So many places to try when I am out there- *sigh* I'll be back soon and can add more to my list....

Canters
Juniors
ahhhhhhhh! :)

Stan4dSteph 11-05-2007 01:25 PM

We should have a Junior's meet. In Brooklyn.

There was a deli in Glendale that I used to go to called Billy’s... the waitresses there could give the Cantor’s waitresses a run for their money!

alphabassettgrrl 11-05-2007 03:24 PM

Cantor's is closer to me so that'd be fun. Junior's is obviously not but my Brooklyn friend swears it's wonderful.
