Julie Andrews as The Blue Fairy.......

...and Rachel Weisz as Snow White.

These are the latest YOAMD promotional pics from Disney.
The YOAMD sucks but the pics look great!

Snowflake 11-05-2007 08:31 PM

Bunnies!
And isn't that Abigail Breslin with the Blue Fairy?

Gemini Cricket 11-05-2007 08:35 PM

I want to see Carrie Fisher as Medusa from The Rescuers.

Ha! That's great!

LSPoorEeyorick 11-05-2007 09:44 PM

Also Roger Federer as King Arthur.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/dis...Gallery&bhcp=1

But WTF is King Arthur doing in Disney Parks? Sure, there's Wart from Sword in the Stone, but this seems a bit reaching!

Breslin is one of the fairies from the Disney Fairies spin-off; I don't think it's iconic enough to be included (but I love Breslin so I'll let it slide.)

Weisz looks lovely, and perfect.

Gemini Cricket 11-05-2007 09:45 PM

Who's Roger Federer? Is that Britney's ex?

LSPoorEeyorick 11-05-2007 09:46 PM

That's a joke, right?

Or maybe you're just not familiar with tennis. He's generally considered the best male tennis player of all time. (We saw him play a few years ago, he's terrific. He blows every other tennis player out of the water.)

Gemini Cricket 11-05-2007 09:51 PM

Oh. No, I didn't know who he was. I Googled him.
:)

Gemini Cricket 11-05-2007 09:52 PM

I was thinking of that Federline guy.

Not Afraid 11-05-2007 10:31 PM

I had to look him up too.

innerSpaceman 11-05-2007 10:42 PM

I never heard of him either ... but, damn, he's hot as King Arthur!

And I don't think that character's a stretch at all. He's shown pulling the sword from the stone ... an event which happens in a Walt-era Disney animated film.

Oh sure, he's a far cry from Wart ... but it's a revisualing I'm very pleased with.

Rachel Weisz is stunning as Snow White.

But Julie Andrews as The Blue Fairy! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Love it.

mousepod 11-05-2007 11:15 PM

It's a park dream. And King Arthur has that oddly spelled (to me, at least) "Carrousel." And that sword/stone thingie in front of it.

Wrong King Arthur. Sleeping Beauty's dad isn't the guy who pulled the sword from the stone. I'm with LSPE, this fantasy doesn't quite work, though Federer is rather hot.

We saw the Snow White one from the freeway. Bunnies! :D

innerSpaceman 11-06-2007 08:32 AM

Huh, Sleeping Beauty's dad? I don't get the reference.

Priceless as Julie Andrews is as The Blue Fairy ... how is imagining her in a world of tree fairies - never even implied in Pinocchio - - any less of a stretch than having Arthur pull the sword from the stone when he's a little bit older (and infinitely hotter) than in the Disney film?

mousepod 11-06-2007 08:45 AM

I don't get the reference either. Sleeping Beauty's dad in the Disney movie is Stefan, and her father-in-law is King Hubert.

I was referring to the fact that the attraction in the middle of Fantasyland is called "King Arthur's Carrousel," and that the sword (in the stone) sits in front of it.

Since the series of photos is supposed to represent things from Disney parks, I just assumed that that's why it's OK to use Arthur.

innerSpaceman 11-06-2007 08:53 AM

How was Prince Phillip attacking Maleficent Dragon something from the Disney parks?

Eh, whether it's parks or movies, The Sword in the Stone fits both. Hotty King Arthur works on every level.

:D

Granted, it's a similar stretch (a la Arthur), but Philip appears in the parks as a character (parades, mostly), while Maleficent as a dragon appears in the US in Fantasmic and until recently in the Cinderella Mystery Castle attraction in Tokyo.

I guess that Disney animation, as represented in the parks, is pretty short on adult male iconic heroes...

innerSpaceman 11-06-2007 09:23 AM

Interesting how all the beautiful heroines are played by actresses, yet the hot heroes are played by sports figures.

Ponine 11-06-2007 09:32 AM

Does anyone have these thee new images full size?
I have the other three at 528kb.

Agreed, nice to see her out more. And that is a great photo!

Chernabog 11-06-2007 05:05 PM

Good evening, this is Julie Andrews. Fifty days ago, I explored the joy and magic of dissolving pixies with snail bait.

Really thought, I like the photos!!! I wish they made them poster sized, especially the Beckham one from last year.

mousepod 11-06-2007 05:32 PM

Big desktop sized versions of the three newest pictures can be found here, here, and here.

flippyshark 11-06-2007 06:25 PM

I like the bunnies in the Snow White picture, and they look like they are alive and probably having a great time frisking around Snow White's dress, but the other animals in that picture look suspiciously taxidermized to me.

Chernabog 11-06-2007 06:30 PM

^^ heh well if one HAD to be a Disney Princess, taxidermy would be a really easy field to get into.

article here.

Gemini Cricket 11-06-2007 06:35 PM

That picture proves nothing! She could be giving that fawn poison in order to taxidermy him.
:D

flippyshark 11-06-2007 06:55 PM

I'm certainly happy to be proven wrong on this one. Now, if only something could be done for the animals in the Grand Canyon diorama.

Heh- Teresa and I rode it on Saturday and I remarked that those animals had been dead longer than I had been alive.

innerSpaceman 11-06-2007 09:23 PM

Wait a minute. That faun she's milk-feeding is normal size. And the one in the finished portrait is freakishly miniaturized.

I call shenanigans.

CoasterMatt 11-06-2007 09:44 PM

The fawn in the picture looks like one of our dogs with dots painted on it.
