South Park - Imagination Episode

Now I am blissfully behind in my DVR, but I was just catching up a bit on a few South Park episodes tonight that aired sometime back in October. The topic was imagination. It was brilliant. Did anyone else capture this? It seems to be 3 episodes long - a trilogy of sorts.

The theme overall seemed to me to be a spoof of the Journey Into Imagination ride at epcot and the characters included but were not limited to:
  • Jack Skellington
  • Optimus Prime
  • TMNT
  • Mad Hatter
  • Ork (he-man)
  • Mr. Clean
  • Dick Tracy
  • Mario
  • Humpty Dumpty
  • Charlie Brown
  • Raggedy Ann and Andy
  • Santa
  • Ronald McDonald
  • Care Bear
  • Count Chocula
  • Snarf
  • Cinderella
  • Gremlin
  • Frankenstein
  • Freddy Krueger
  • Jason
  • Predator
  • Storm Troopers
  • Alien
  • Ichabod Crane
  • Wario
  • Strawberry Shortcake
  • Joker
There were also some others I didn't recognize. Did anyone else catch this? So much fun to see all those characters in one place.

Also:
  • Tron
  • Luke Skywalker
  • Popeye
  • Morpheus
  • WonderWoman
and my fave imaginary character:
  • Jesus

I was a great trilogy, I agree. I know the trilogy was officially called "Imagionationland," but I prefer the title given in episode one: "Kyle Sucks Cartman's Balls."

Aw, I need to see this..

BarTopDancer 11-15-2007 09:09 AM

Missed it. Bummer dude. Hopefully it will re-run soon.

Morrigoon 11-15-2007 09:11 AM

Great trilogy. I cracked UP when they launched into mocking the original Journey into Imagination attraction.

Disappointed they only mocked Dreamfinder and didn't bring in a Figment at some point.

Ghoulish Delight 11-15-2007 09:37 AM

It was awesome, and we practically watched the first episode frame-by-frame every time they showed a crowd shot of imaginationland.

LSPoorEeyorick 11-15-2007 09:45 AM

Hilarious. Particularly loved all the references to Journey through Imagination (and that SONG! I mock it all the time... generally with the words "ejaaaaaaculation! ejaaaaaaculaion!" but it always seemed like so few people knew it.)

I loved the cute (raping) woodland characters too.

Did you see the original Christmas episode from whence they came?

figment1986 11-15-2007 10:11 AM

too many characters in the background!!! $5 they might be a purple dragon in the background... their was enough characters to hide him.

Amazing, it was like every character the animators loves were in there and killed off. lol then the next episode with the american portal to our imagination... brilliant!

i loved that trillogy!

Ah, the Woodland Critter Christmas bloody orgy scene. Such wonderful memories...
:D

OMG when they got into the flying contraption (straight outa the ride) and said that there was a song I think I sat up on my knees in giddy anticipation. Brilliant! I used to love that ride before they messed it up. Figment rocks!

Holy crap I nearly died laughing when they showed up. Awesome times 5000!

Kurt Russel - "They're raping me!"

And yes, I watched certain scenes freeze framed as well.

I stand before you with dry balls, your Honor.

The one downfall of not having cable TV is having to wait until the SP episodes are released on DVD in order to see them.

Morrigoon 11-15-2007 11:30 AM

And that's why cable beats DSL... ;)

flippyshark 11-15-2007 11:36 AM

I've really got to see this, working as I sometimes do in the Imagination pavilion. (I can't say as it's currently worthy of such cultural recognition. It's presently a pretty tepid attraction.)

NirvanaMan 11-15-2007 03:43 PM

Funny, the seemingly unanimous position amongst coworkers here is that the trilogy sucked, was unfunny and shouldn't be watched. Perhaps they lack a certain, Je ne se geek.

Cadaverous Pallor 11-15-2007 09:20 PM

I had no idea it was referring to WDW.

CoasterMatt 11-15-2007 09:25 PM

What's this South Park you speak of?

Here's part one of three

LSPoorEeyorick 11-16-2007 12:17 PM

Wikipedia has a full list.

Also, their entry reminded me of my favorite dialogue exchange:

GENERAL
Those aren't ideas, those are special effects!

MICHAEL BAY
I... don't understand the difference.

GENERAL
I know you don't.

Wow, Wikipedia missed my favorite one: a giant taco that poops ice cream. He wasn't on for more than a couple seconds, but it was definitely the character from Cancelled.

NirvanaMan 11-16-2007 02:58 PM

Oh my god that Wikipedia page is awesome!

So, add it. The joy of Wiki

LSPoorEeyorick 11-16-2007 03:23 PM

Hmm, I think it's on there...

Something isn't quite right about that statement right there but I am laughing anyway!

Weird. I searched that page for "taco" before I posted that. Maybe it got added later? <shrug>

Yeah, I could check, but I don't care that much.

Makes more sense when you see the Woodland Creature Christmas episode first.
