Tin Man

Anyone else watching Tin Man on SciFi?

It's a new take on the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

I'm finding it to be an interesting take and I'll be re-watching when I'm not distracted.

I do know that if I hear "the o.z." one more time I am going to reach through the screen and strangle someone.

CoasterMatt 12-02-2007 11:55 PM

They've been distributing a mini-comic book at work to promote it.
Looks good, but "the o.z." is beyond annoying.

mousepod 12-03-2007 08:37 AM

It's sitting on my TiVo, waiting for my downtime. Downtime? Ha.

Chernabog 12-03-2007 09:42 AM

We watched Part 1 last nite. Meh. Yeah, whoever thought that saying "the O.Z." was a good idea needs to be strung up by their nipples and flogged with a trout.

Also the villain is a bad, bad actress.

There are parts of it that I definitely like (like Zooey who plays D.G.) but there isn't one other character that I really like at all.

Kevy Baby 12-03-2007 10:13 AM

Have it saved on the DVR. I am looking forward to watching.

Capt Jack 12-03-2007 10:21 AM

checked it out a bit last night although admittedly not paying full attention.
(not like I could hear it after Ozzy and Zombie last night anyway  )

probably check it out closer tonite and peek at the 2nd installment

"The O.Z.?" Ew. That right there would make me not want to see it...
:D

I had heard about this and decided that I will need to overlook this detail.

BarTopDancer 12-03-2007 11:00 AM

Other than "The O.Z" (which if you're not listening carefully sounds like "The O.C.") Tin Man has promise.

Ghoulish Delight 12-03-2007 10:55 PM

Ugh.

We're 90 minutes in to the first installment, paused for a phone call.

There's some good. There's more bad. Don't know if I'm going to hang with this one.

BarTopDancer 12-03-2007 11:05 PM

There are 3 episodes. With TiVO I can get through them. I want to give it a shake. My only major complaint (given I was only paying half attention) was The O.Z. as well as a few other things they did to try to be 'hip'.

Cadaverous Pallor 12-04-2007 08:51 AM

We didn't continue - my phone call went late - and I dont' think I want to spend any more of my time on that awful film. I could have overlooked the terrible villian (bad acting and bad writing) but when the Tin Man himself turned into a laughably bad character (bad acting, bad writing, and he looked over his shoulder to say every line) I knew it was curtains. A shame, because I was digging their take on Dorothy for the most part. Alan Cummings was doing his best to deal with more bad writing but it's a losing battle.

Again, I'm reminded why I support the writers' strike.

Capt Jack 12-04-2007 10:22 AM

yeah, not diggin this at all.
still....gotta see it through to the end. I mean, all this pain needs to lead somewhere, doesnt it?

katiesue 12-04-2007 10:46 AM

I was fliping channels and tuned in for about 15 minutes. I couldn't take much more than that.

Kevy Baby 12-04-2007 10:59 AM

I shall still watch and decide for meself

I'm confused (Not that that in itself is unusual).

What does the strike have to do with the quality of the writing? Sure the writers want more moola (who doesn't?) but how would handing them a raise make shows that suffer from poor writting any better?

No, no, I mean, good writers that write all the wonderful things I watch deserve to be fairly paid, because without them, all TV would be like this. <shudder>

Capt Jack 12-06-2007 05:27 PM

ok...saw all 3 parts..........

the sucking sound still echo's in my ears.

Spoiler:

pretty much a weak contrived fantasy story with little Wizard of Oz references thrown in, in a vain attempt to make it even remotely interesting.
DG...the girl playing the part cant act and aparrently can barely walk.
her expressions and emotions come across vapid, forced and uninspired, her on camera presense seems downright uncomfortable.

what an absolute waste of airtime

Cadaverous Pallor 12-07-2007 12:08 AM

Many thanks to Capt Jack for enduring so I can feel better for not watching it :D
