Walt's Caboose

Thanks to someone cool, Snowflake, blueerica and I got to ride the Lilly Belle at Disneyland.

Here are some pics:

Here's the Conductor and a family we shared the ride with. Notice the ghostly lens flares above.

Same shot, no flash.

Cool wood inlay.

A picture of a pitcher.

Flower vase.

The onboard liberry.

Lilly's coat.

The carpet. You know, in case anyone was wondering...

Lilly's needlepoint.

blueerica

Snowflake

Me and someone's thumb.

Lilly and her husband.

I must admit, I was all misty-eyed riding the Lilly Belle. What a treat.

Congratulations you guys. I miss all the fun :(

CoasterMatt 12-17-2007 10:36 PM

The Lily Belle ISN'T a caboose, she's a parlour car! :p

Gemini Cricket 12-17-2007 10:44 PM

It's last. It's a caboose.
:D

Not Afraid 12-17-2007 10:50 PM

My Mom always called me the Caboose since I was the last child.

Cadaverous Pallor 12-17-2007 11:15 PM

Yay! I'm so glad you guys got to do this.

Too bad you didn't get a picture of the spooky doiley. :D

innerSpaceman 12-17-2007 11:20 PM

There were no spooky doilies in any of my Lilly Belle pics either.

I've been privileged to ride aboard the L. Belle twice. Once due to the same beneficence that graced our select party of deserving swankers yesterday ... and once via a special ticket they were handing out en masse when the car was lovingly restorated and reset on the rails some two years back.

In fact, I still have one of those special tickets ... and I intend to present it one day far in the future for a promised ride.

How awesome GC and company! I think that riding in the Belle is equal to a meal in the Club on the level of uber swank ala Disney. Thanks for sharing!

Sorry GC, I have to be pedantic and agree with Matt. Cabooses were working cars, with a specific function, that were attached only to the ends of freight trains. They were never used for passengers.

Walt's caboose......

Oh, and here I thought this was another part of his body that got frozen along with his head. I mean, shoot, if you're gonna freeze the top, you may as well freeze the bottom, too. You can fill in the rest later.....

;)

Congrats on riding the LillyBelle! I hope to some day.....

*sigh*

wendybeth 12-18-2007 01:18 AM

I'm so glad you got to ride the LillyBelle, you guys! Great pictures as well. Ty!:)

wolfy999 12-18-2007 08:22 AM

One day....one day.....

Love the pics! Glad you got to ride!

Snowflake 12-18-2007 08:42 AM

Great pics GC! The flash certainly helped, the lighting was dim, so it did take a while for blindo here to adjust to the mood lighting and get the details.

It was a spectacular treat that I will not forget. I only wish that certain someone had not piped up that one of the cordial glasses was not nailed down...I'd take after my Mother and lift a little souvenir ;)

Gemini Cricket 12-18-2007 09:42 AM

There is a cool setting on my camera that takes two pictures at a time. One with a flash and one without. It helped with the quickie photo shoots that had to happen when the train came to a stop at a station.

I was blown away by the whole thing. And it's all thanks to someone very special. :)

btw - It looks like I have chocolate on my chin in that picture. :D It's not, really. It's my spf.

alphabassettgrrl 12-18-2007 04:15 PM

I hope I get to ride her some day. That car is just so gorgeous I want to see her in person. Thanks for posting pics so I can live vicariously. :)

cirquelover 12-18-2007 06:37 PM

I can only dream of someday seeing it in person. Thanks for sharing your pics, it looks wonderful!

Kevy Baby 12-18-2007 08:56 PM

Was Walt an ass man?

BarTopDancer 12-18-2007 09:15 PM

The Liilly Belle is beautiful. I had the privilege of riding in her about 8 years ago, before my days of a digital camera. Thank you for sharing the photos!

You lucky ducks! Thanks for the pics!

Morrigoon 12-19-2007 10:29 AM

Every time I see this thread, I think not of the Lilly Belle, but of Walt's "caboose" if you KWIM...

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 12-19-2007 10:42 AM
