Twas the Disneyland Before Christmas
... and all through the Park, all was so lovely ... let's go for a lark!
I haven't had enough Disneyland Christmas this year, and I'm going back on Christmas Eve Eve .... if anyone would like to join up for some wonderful Christmassy goodness. I think one of the most marvelous Xmas-things I've ever experienced was on Main Street, just after this past Thanksgiving. It was my first time seeing this year's holiday decorations, highlighted by the beautiful new winter wonderizing of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Gemini Cricket and Laurie and I were watching Holiday Believe fireworks and basking in the beautiful snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A. ... when who did we find wandering through the crowds but a teeny tiny Minnie Mouse and her beau, Mickey. They had no handlers, and were going from person to person in the astonished throng, hugging everyone a Merry Christmas. It was pure Disney magic of the first order. I've been back a few times, grabbing Christmas tendrils here and there ... but I've an urge to wrap it all up in pretty bow the evening of Sunday, December 23 - - the eve before Christmas Eve. I just feel like I've been missing some of the Christmasization Disneyland has to offer ... especially the fireworks and snowfall, which I've seen cancelled, stopped in mid-show, just missed, and otherwise out-of-breath from a downtown disney race. I'm gonna nab a typical "Remember" spot in front of the Castle, and watch Believe and the stunning Sleeping Beauty transforation from a fabulous perch. I'll bring a blanket and save some room. Please join me for Holiday pryomagicalisms! Let's watch both stages of the earlier Castle Christmacizing at 5:30 and 7:30 (are those the times??). Let's ogle it's a small world in its XmasLight Glory, and hang around for one of the periodic projection shows of Nutcracker Sweetness. Let's ride a bobsled down the icy slopes of the Majestic Matterhorn, and enjoy any other attractions that have a seasonal greetings connection. Let's see Santa's reindeer over by the awesome XmasLight treefest on Big Thunder Trail. And harken to Dickens Carolers on Main Street USA, the Chrismassiest Street on Earth. It'll be a night of hanging out in the Park from twilight till late night. Fun as they are, no gargantuan meals in Downtown Disney. When we're hungry ... and though it won't be breakfast ... let's sample the new menu at the just-reopened River Belle Terrace. So if anyone's up for some last-minute Yuletide treats, please meet me at the Park this coming Sunday. The most important Christmas ingredient can't be provided by Disneyland. It's the company of friends that makes the holiday special. Let's have one last Merry Christmas Evening on Christmas Eve Eve at Disneyland. |
Personally, I'm a bit tempted by hot chocolate and fireworks and more castle ogling. We'll see...
|
I wish...... :(
Ya'll have fun and please post some pics of the nightime IASW, please. I will need some Xmas cheer as I am cleaning house on the night before the night before Xmas. Sadly, this Cinderella will have soot on her nose and her glass slippers were broken at Oakland Airport baggage claim. |
I so need another DL Christmas fix. But, I'm not sure this will work. Puppyland starts ramping up about then.
|
Have to check the work schedule, but I'm probably up for this if I'm available. I love "themed" swankings :)
|
Well, H will be up at her Mom's house - I don't join her until Monday afternoon... and I did miss most of Sunday... hmmm....
|
I am tempted to try and go, but it's very unlikely since I used up two of my grandma's Disneyland passes. We shall see, I suppose.
I am trying to hold onto one that I know is there for May. Though I will probably blow back into town before then for a quick day or two to get my grad stuff in line before walking in May, so it's the next definite time I'll be back in town after the first. |
I do want Maddy to see the castle at night. Hmmmm.
We're definate maybes. |
I LOVED our Christmas Swanking this past Sunday. As Cadaverous Pallor so apty put it over the three-hour-dinner table (and I paraphase), it doesn't matter what we do .... we have so much fun just being together.
Oh so true. And yet, I am feeling as if I missed a few ounces of Christmas at the Disneyland Christmas Swanking. This is a more low-key sequel. And there WILL BE hot chocolate. And bobsled ride. And lot's more twinkly Castle. And mucho Main Street. And pretty small world. And fireworks. And snow. And, yes, a bite to eat at the River Belle Terrace. HeeHee. |
I have promised my family some quality time this weekend through Christmas, so I have to (regretfully) decline. I wish you all a merry, merry time.
|
I know what you mean about wanting more Disneyland Christmas but I don't think I'm going to get it. I have too much to do, and we are leaving town Friday.
Enjoy your quiet lovely evening and I wish you good company. **hugs** |
|
Since I missed out on most of Sunday's swanking - I will be there.
|
Odds are we're going to be visiting with a brand new baby niece.
|
I'm thinking about it....very tempting. Haven't seen the Holiday Fireworks yet, nor the entire Castle thingy.....

oh, c'mon. Newborn's first Disneyland Christmas!!!
|
Ooh! An excuse to drive my new car!
I'm in. :) |
I don't think I have anything silly enough to wear
|
I'll be there. The fireworks experience has been eluding me, too.
|
One of our Vegas friends will be in town. Humm.

Twas the Disneyland Before Christmas
Sorry but i work from 11am til 6:45pm so i am out. Plus CM and i are supposed to go to my parent's on Xmas Eve and i know he works Xmas Eve for sure so...but i'm officially out i'm actually officially Xmas'd out. I can't even listen to Xmas songs now...one last trip to the park on New Years Eve all day long and evening and then i'm hanging up my pass for awhile...
|
We're definately out now. Someone's grounded to within an inch of their lives.
|
Uh oh!
Is someone getting coal in their stocking? |
No coal yet but she will be unpleasantly surprised when she comes home from school to find her computer and TV gone from her room. And all the rest of the TV's in the house disconnected. All the cables and remotes are in the trunk of my car along with said TV and computer.

Eh the thing that sucks about punishing the kid is you don't get to do the fun stuff either, like Disneyland. Ah well. Hopefully the lesson will be learned. |

Sorry you won't be able to make it, katiesue. When I see Santa, shall I add someone's name to his NAUGHTY List for you???
|
zoinks!
You could really punish her by putting her in one of the kids clubs all day while you go play at the park  |
We are currently without passes. Have a great time everyone! :)

Have fun, everyone! My parents come into town tomorrow, so we'll be busy making their holiday jolly.
|
Bring them....the more the merrier they always say! ;)
|
Is there a time/place? Someone has REALLY worked their little buns off to get themselves out of hot water so we should make it.
|
Wow... that was a quick turnaround!
|
Hmmm, time and place??? Hmmmm.
Well, this is a late afternoon into night thing ... so howza bout snacktime at Riverbelle Terrace at 4:00, with the next meet-up time right in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at the 5:30 initial transformation. After that ... um cell phones. Before that ... cell phones, too (zapppop and I will be getting to the Resort around 3ish.) my cell is available upon P.M. request .... or contact Not Afraid for the Disneyland switchboard. I'm looking forward to spending a delightful evening with friends at the Christmassiest Place on Earth! |
Works for me.
|
I wish I could go... but alas, Crimbo has been more expensive than it should have been :(
|
ok, zapp and I are heading out for the Park. Hot Chocolate, Jingle Bells, Kittens in the air, snowflakes everwhere, twinkly lights, icy slopes, carols, bells, and a world of peace and love.
See you all there. And for them's that don't ..... A Happy Christmas! (For them's that do .... see ya soon, and we will start our Merry Christmas together!) |
Have fun!
|
Thought I would make it...but just way too much to finish up before Christmas Day.
Have fun and think of all us LoTters that couldn't make it tonight! |
Damn... I forgot about this, and now I'm back home :(
|
Today was a blackout day for all but Premium, so it wasn't in the cards for us.
|
I just got lazy.
|
I'm kinda glad we can't make it because we're blocked anyway. :p
|
yadda yaada bitter east coast yadda yadda.......
|
It's insanely windy out here- I wonder if they'll have fireworks...
|
Looks like they didn't.
But the park was nice. Not as crowded as I thought it would be. DtD was insane, though.... |
Well.......we waited almost 2 hours in a nice spot for Fireworks......they were canceled. :(

But a pleasant time was had by all, I daresay. Even camping out for fireworks that never happened was a more pleasant way to spend time with each other than battling through the thronging crowds. Ugh, fireworks are just not in the cards this year. And what was with the complete false advertising of 3 Castle stages of progressive transition?!? Now that we had a chance to finally watch all 3 "stages," we discovered it was a complete lie. Still, there was yummy hot chococlate, beatifully Christmastime Main Street, stunning small world with Nutcracker spectacular at close range, a screamingly rapid plunge down the Matterhorn's icy slopes, a twinkly pretty castle despite false advertising, and welcoming in teh Christmas with good friends! |
I had alot of fun tonight. Thanks for the company everyone.
|
Anybody got a pic of the outside, holiday version of IASW? I could use some cheer here, this chest cold has gotten me down.
Even with the cancellation of the fireworks, you had a c=good Xmasy time, what's wrong with that? Nothing in my book! |
I didn't get any of Small World but here are a few -
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We had so much. Huge thanks to GC and Zap for entertaining Maddy. You're now her two favorite LoTers. |
Great pics Katie! Thanks!

It was MASSIVELY crowded yesterday... we had a several train wait at all stations by afternoon.
But I'm still sorry I missed the fun! |

It was nice to be a DL for holiday madness even without fireworks. Pretty lights and good friends make for a wonderful Christmas. Oh, and I stopped at Disneyana on the way out.:D |
OMG, TIN PLATES! I forgot to mention the secret roll-back to 1955 prices on a set of beautiful tin decorative holiday plates that, between 11 of us, we purchased 19 sets of!!
What did you buy at Disneyana on the way out of the Park, NA? |
How much were they charging, iSm?
|
Thought you could only get the Tin Plates with a $50.00 purchase, has that changed? Or did you guys all spend a fortune to get 19 sets of them?
|
Since it was the last night of the promotion they let us get them for $10 without the $50 purchase. And you could get multiple sets (which most of us did).
|
No, they decided since it was the last day to sell the tin plates for $10 a set without having to purchase anything else. When I met up with the group, I was told by MousePod that I HAD to go buy plates. Of course I complied. ;)
At Disneyana, I finally got The Imagineering Way along with The new Imagineering Workout and, because I had to spend $50 to get my 20% discount, I added on the Jason Surrell Disney Mountains book and the Cinderella storybook with pictures by Mary Blair. |
Damn....last night, oh well, should have gone!
|
i'm posting from the airport and don't have enough time to type all of my thoughts right now - so i'll just say that I truly had a magical day at the park - even without the fireworks. I consider myself truly lucky to have such wonderful people in my life. thanks for suggesting the swanking iSm...
|
Wolfy: lemme know if you still want some, I think they still have them at Company D. They had a freaking TON of them a couple weeks ago.
|
I had great fun last night. Maddy was an awesome ride partner.:)
Despite the fact that iSm couldn't provide us with fireworks (you know, cause it's all his fault :D ) I had a great time sitting in front of the castle gabbing with the group. It was a wonderful night. |

I'm thinking your definition of the word "set" is different than mine.
And if you can get me a ten dollar set of tin plates, I'd be ever so obliged. |
Eh?
|
Goonie....please pick me up one set, I'd be forever grateful!
|
Oh, and I'll pay you of course also!

OMG!
The tins are 50% off at the park! so for $5 you too can get the tins! Rush! I say RUSH to the park to get them while they're still there. I got 4 sets last night. :) |
When we were there last week there were loads of them, at almost every store. Stacks of them.
|
Hahahah, did they really think that many people were going to buy $60 sweatshirts to gain the privilege of buying the plates?!
Lemme know when the price reaches fifty cents! |
