Office is a ghost town
There's maybe 20% of the employees here today. Eerie.
Your offices? |
About half here, but that's normal for a Friday.
|
I don't know yet. The place doesn't normally fill up until about 10 a.m. anyway.
We have a large population of Hindi contractors so I'm sure they're around but most of them are on a different floor than me. |
about half, but we're open on Monday, there will be maybe 2-3 employees in on Monday. Yes, I do work for Scrooge and Marley and I will be filing a patent application for a client on Monday, from home and charging OT for it, too (weekend).
|
We won't really be a ghost town until next week. We're insanely busy right now and only 1 or 2 people will be out today. Small office, btw.
But next week we're only here Wednesday - Friday, working with a skeleton crew. Should be fun! |
There were 5 of us this morning at 6:30 - in our Boiler room office that normally holds a couple hundred.
It's starting to fill up a bit, being the last day before the dark week, but most of the consultants go home on Fridays, so we may have already peaked for the day |
Yeah, office was dark when I arrived... late. Usually there's always a person or two here ahead of me. I think I just heard someone arrive finally.

Almost everyone is here today. BUT all but one of my clients are out of town. Yay! It's quiet.
:) |
Hard to say here, I'm in a huge lab where everyone's spread out anyway. Judging by how fast the bagels and cream cheese went this morning and how full the parking lot was, we're probably still at 80% capacity. We have M-W off next week, I suspect Th. and Fri. are going to be very quiet days.

If only there were bacon - and some hash browns, mmmmm... |
All present and accounted for here, though I'm not sure how much work is going to get done today since school's out.
|
I don't have an "office" but my client list is HUGE today continuing through mid-January. I was out this morning at 7, now I'm home and I have about an hour to down some freshly-made coffee and eat something before i scramble about for the rest of the day.
|
Aw man, Euro, did you have to bring up bacon? Now I want some...
|
I think I may go early to Lunch, and have Breakfast - I wish there were a Hof's Hut out here
|
oh yeah.....breakfast for lunch sounds freakin' spectacular today
Im thinking maybe eggs benedict or chorizo con huevos or... hmm...... |
We're all here...
missing one person out for cataract surgery, but otherwise, the gang is all here. Right now the rest of the group is over doing the White Elephant exchange. (I did not participate, I have no Christmas cheer this year) We are working Saturday, then again on Wednesday and Thursday, so thats when it will be quiet. However, the phones are very quiet. |
Chorizo! Damn you've upped my ante
|
Hone, I think you may be getting sick....you might have to come home......
|
Well, luckily the Gelato Cafe guy came buy and satisfied my needs with a chorizo burrito (damn you all), and also supplied me with a turkey & swiss for lunch, but I'm so hungry this morning I've already eaten half of it.
Here's where my day officially got weird: As I'm leaning over the catering guy's cooler, who should walk up but someone I used to work with when I was doing insurance! Totally random. Even more random though, is that he was coming to OUR office to talk with one of our agents. Of all the offices in Southern California, what are the chances? |
My cubicle (built for 2) has all 6 of us in today. Cozy.
The rest of the floor is pretty vacant, to quote the Pistols. We are closed next week until Jan. 2 and we have a lot of out-of-town contractors who live in various parts of the USA (and some from Canada, eh?) and they took off yesterday. Lots to do here, unforch, and some are working this weekend. |
Looks like we're pretty much at standard attendance today. I'm sure people will start drifting out early, though.
We realized we forgot to account for the cat so we're delaying our departure up north by a day so the cat is only alone four days instead of five. So there's no reason for me to leave early if I don't want to. Normally we have one of Lani's coworkers check in on the cat while we're away (we live literally across the street from her office) but we forgot that they're dark all next week. I sure do miss how we did it growing up when a two-week vacation just meant leaving a back window open and pouring a three gallon bowl of cat food somewhere the raccoons and possums weren't likely to smell it. |
I'm working at home, Matthew is asleep in the next room. Yep, ghost town indeed. :)
|
Well, there are enough people here today that literally every time I've walked past the break area I've discovered a new plate of cookies. I think I can actually see myself getting fatter in real time at this point.
|
Homemade fudge is still stacked high in the break room.
|
You know, if you're going to go away over Christmas and have 3 dogs and 2 cats, wouldn't you book your pet sitter more than one day before you leave? Especially if you've worked for the company previously and know how busy Christmas is?
I'm sorry, but I am already booked. |
Damn GD, I wish we had cookies here, I'm jealous!
Although we do have leftover bite-sized desserty things in the fridge, but they're a week old :/ |
My office has been on half cylinders for a while now. We're going out of business in 10 days.
Heheh, for the first time ever, since they don't care anymore, they're giving us Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve off. Oh, big of them. But I'll take it. Defections have been occurring rather steadily for weeks. So even though we seem surprisingly fully staffed today ... that's half the staff of 2 months ago. Bah, it's ultra depressing being here. |
Pastries in a pile in our office. Now I want chorizo. It's the LoT Effect.
A couple of staff are already on vacation. Next week, though, is where you learn who can afford vacations and who needs to make up lost hours due to closures. Myself, I'll be here on the 24th in the morning to bring in the bookdrop (someone has to do it, and I'd rather do it over Xmas than other holidays), and back at work on the 26th and 27th. The whole month has been dead and I can't wait for the hustle and bustle of January 2nd. |
I'm usually home on Fridays, so today is no exception. I'm taking Monday off, but Wednesday through Friday I'll be back at work.
What sucks about working on a college campus is that over the quarter break, all the services shut down. So when you are there working, there's nowhere to go to relieve the boredom. |
I officially hate all of you who have Monday off. :p
|
School let out yesterday...so off until January 7th!
|
Full staff here today. Monday is a half day holiday. If I want to take the entire day off on Monday, I have to use a half vacation day. Same for January 31
|
I went to Denny's

And my last meeting of the day is a half hour earlier than I thought - now if it can also end earlier than the anticpated 90 minutes - I may soon be joining the holiday traffic.

Yes, I figured out you meant December This year my company decided to give us Dec. 26th off instead of Dec. 31. So I had to burn a vacation day on the 31st. No biggie though. Ugh, my manager just handed me his holiday gift of 2 lbs. of peanut butter pretzels. Evil. |

Friday's are usually thinner around here, but today is more thin than usual. Our office is spread out in 2 suites on separate floors (2nd and 3rd floor). I work in the 3rd floor suite and right now I'm the only one here. The 2nd floor suite has the usual compliment of staff though.
So...party. My place. None of the big bosses are in. (But yes, we're somehow managing to actually get work done.) |
After today I'm gone for two whole weeks - still had two weeks of vacation days. No work until Jan 7. This is the best thing about no longer being self employed. There is such a thing as paid vacation.

1.5 hours and I can get outta here!! |

I can't even reach anyone to find out if I can take a half day on Monday. I'm guessing that the person I'll be covering for next week is probably already gone, getting ready for her big move (yeah, over Christmas week, if you can imagine such a thing!)
|
2.5 hours to go.... <sigh>
|
I just discovered cake in the lunchroom. Yum....
|
I have chocolate on my desk. It's been here most of the day. Just say no to junk food!
|
I wish I had a burger about now.

Mmmmmm In & Out fries are the best! <drool>
|
We just had a 2.5hr office lunch. Now it's time to go home - yay!
|
Yumm....double double with grilled onions....yum......
|
One of my clients gave me a GINORMOUS gift basket of Ghiradilis Chocolate (and $100 tip)!
|
Since I just found out today we are closed both holiday "eves" - - - it suddently dawned on me that my firm has only 3 business days left in operation.
OMG! Um, I'm going to panic now. pardon me .... *&(&*($*^%#@(@*$()**!!!! |

(doesn't it look delicious?) |
That's what I had last night for dinner!
|
Looks like my lunch...
|
I'm still at the office. It is my own fault. I am having a VERY hard time feeling motivated today. Had I been able to be at all focused today, I probably could have left already!

30 minutes to go.....
|
Still here
|
I only worked two days this week. 20 minutes to go till the end of this week.
Then I have four days off. Then 3 days of work. Hella work. Then four days off. Then I start a new job. With vastly more responsiblity, and a little bit more money (if the business succeeeds). Um, Happy New Year. I think. |
Everyone @ my office is drinking.
:D |
iSm: I didn't know you found a new job, that's great! :)
|
Everyone was at Peet's today!! We were crazy-busy... and of course, we were short-staffed by one... she walked off the job at 6:55 this morning. Bleh...
I was shocked by how crowded it was all day at my shopping center. From one reporter in the field at the Spectrum this evening... parking structure there wasn't really full at all. |
iSm!! Grats on finding a new job!
|
Lots of parking on the 4th floor of the Spectrum parking structure. No line at Chipoodle.
2 hell days of work. A bottle of wine and hopefully a friend or two and goodnight y'all! |
Still here
|
I left the office a half hour early today.
|
Technically still here, but not doing anything else (I just sent my last email).
|
What time do you get to work in the morning?
|
The last time I had an empty office to myself, I had sex on the conference room table. Fantastically true story.

It's Tom Brady fingering Randy Moss as Moss pretends to moon the Lambeau faithful and Bill Belichick records it with his SpyGate camera. Uh, I'm not sure why Moss is on a pedestal -- that part never happened.
What else could it be? |
I had to work an extra half hour today, and got a lunch penalty because I didn't get lunch until 5 1/2 hours into my shift. It was busier than projection, and amazingly, the asshat quotient was pretty low (only had one jerk to deal with personally, and his wife got mad at him for the way he spoke to me).
I can't wait till January 6. |

|
I'd like to state for the record, that my work place is a ghost town today.
There are four of us here, and its quiet, oh, and I found PARKING! |
My workplace is a madhouse today. Maybe I should call them and ask how they're doing?

Yeah, Morri... the one at the Bella Terra.
FYI, I'll be making a guest appearance at the Orchard Hills Peets, the one off of Culver and Portola, tomorrow, from 7:30 AM til' 3-ish. Come on by! |
The zoo's nuts this weekend. Everyone waits to come to ZooLights, and then it's summertime crowds in the evening.
I'm on vacation. Let the seasonal staff have the hours. (Well, I'm working the next two Sundays, but other than that, I'm gon until the 2nd.) ron |
|
Oh man, one of my all time favorite songs. I had no idea there was a video. And a fabulous video at that.
|
Wow, that brought back some memories.

Well, I'm at work. There are about 10-12 people here. You can hear a pin drop. I have a feeling it's going to be a loooong day.....
|
Hahah... I recognized the song immediately... perfect choice!
Really IS a ghost town around here, but I have to stick around to cover for the Corporate Administrator who's out this week. But at least I get to leave at 4 :) |
I knew I forgot to go somewhere today.
PSYCH! Hopefully the day goes by quickly for all those at work today! |
Shyeah, and no Peet's or Sprinkles to console myself today either, I'm back in my regular office (technically, since Disney hasn't succeeded in getting a check to me YET, I can't afford it anyway)
|
I have a box of doughnuts in my office. You're welcome to come by and get one!
Oh... And Christmas cookies too! |
Between the doughnuts and cookies, I have my staff (the few of them that are here today) in sugar comas. I'm an evil boss.....
|
I'm one of two staffers still working after noon. She's not pleased either.
|
I slept in, made breakfast for Susan and I (including bacon!), and most importantly, didn't have to work.
It sucks to be me. |
:p
|
I worked. Took a nap. Worked some more. Now I'm downloading pictures - all 255 of them. It's odd not to have any Christmas Eve plans - except more work.
|
Went and had some wine and my first screening of A Christmas Story at a friends house. Ran some errands before the store closes. Now I'm doing laundry so I can pack and then will be making dinner. If I get off the interwebs.
|
Once again, I'm the only person on the 3rd floor today.
|
I'm here today.
Everyone else be gone. My client's happy I am here. I am not. :D |
I'm here. My back hurts. I'm hungry.
|
I am spending my vacation today at the office.
|
There are tumbleweeds. For the first hour it was just me. Now it's just me and our art director.
Bored, bored, bored. |
Our office has more people in it today. To their credit, the CEO and CFO are both here, as is the office manager and one of the girls in escrow.
My back still hurts, and I'm still hungry. But it's nearly lunchtime, so I can solve one of those issues :) |
Yay, patrons showed up today! We're nicely occupied. :)
|
There are three out of 20.... its quiet.
