ROOMMATE WANTED for DCL Panama Cruise, May 10-28, 2008
Hey all --
I'm looking for a roommate for the upcoming Disney Magic Panama Canal cruise! Unfortunately it seems like my roommate is unable to go at this time -- and I can't go either unless I find a roommate! Maybe that person is you? :D Here's the itinerary: Click Here I've already got it reserved, and the total cost is $1,546, including the taxes and fees. Airfare, ground transportation, and gratuities will be additional. My stateroom is an inside cabin, but really, it's a freakin cruise so you're almost never in there. However, from what I hear the Disney cabins are bigger than most cruise ships, which is way cool. As Disneyphile said when she was looking for a roomie, this cruise is already sold out, and highly coveted, so this is a great and rare opportunity to have 15 nights of all-inclusive fun aboard the Disney Magic, and visit awesome ports like Castaway Cay, Aruba, Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, and Cabo San Lucas, with a transition from the Atlantic to Pacific oceans via the beautiful Panama Canal. (And, quite a few swankers are going as well, so it's sure to be a party!) And yes, I am gay so that means I shower regularly. If you're a guy or a gal that's fine by me if you are comfortable. Oh, and I've been on three cruises before, so I'll be invaluable in letting you know about cruise etiquette. The full fare is due by the beginning of February 2008. Yes, you can pay by credit card! Please let me know if you're interested... I'd love to go with a Lounger! Did I mention Not Afraid, Euromeinke, Disneyphile, Wolfy and other Loungers are going? Swanky. |
Oooh, don't hold my berth, but i will be strongly considering this for the next 48 hours. It sounds yummy.

Oh, wait... you said BERTH. Never mind. |
Dammit. I already moved to my parents' room, and they're paying for it, so I can't move now. :(
I think Sadako needs a roommate, so try asking her too. Although, I'd totally love it if iSm went!! (Dude, you SO have to!!!) :snap: |
You really wanna live with your parents for two weeks??!? Hehehe just move and make up the difference ;) And yes it would be fun to room with ya IsM (as long as certain libations were not libated IN the room, lol). I just left a message for Sadako and Almandot as well so... let's see who is interested. It's gonna be really fun! And then after we'll have a whole year to save up for the 2009 Toykobear trip :)
|
Love to Cherney, but I snore like a banshee, so I'm told!
I'm thinking of the Tokyo trip in 2009.....since Europe 2008 is out. |

I'm with my parents... though I'm 21 so its not as bad.
Hope you find someone, it seems this trip has less and less as time goes on... |
BTW, I'm not the roommate that can't go. I mean, I am the roommate, but not the one who can't go. Which is not to say that I am going, 'cause I can't.
|
Oh, I snore. Does that disqualify me??
|
Quote:
What kinda snoring are we talking about here? Off-and-on wheezing, or constant freight train? :D |
I've slept with ISM and it's sort of medium-grade snoring.
|
......at times.
Other times he snores like a mother****** ! |
Quote:
It ain't like two weeks with you kids is all happiness and cheer either. It's damn challenging to get our freak on with you hanging round.... |
Oh Chernie.....you have to go.....it won't be the same without you! I'll keep my ears and eyes open!

And who knows, maybe someone will buy a house at the 11th hour...
(not holding my breath *sigh*) |

I would but i have no $$$$ sorry. Why must all the swankings take in $$$$? there should be more less $$$$ events outings for poor people. Yes i am Poor very Poor so i can't afford the luxuries of what others can but Cherny keep your chin up i'm sure you'll find a roommate. :) And the Tokyo trip 09 lmao maybe i'll just send Matt and save the $$$ for me...

If you didn't spend all of your money on Bon Jovi.........;)
|
Hey, we all have our priorities :)
Speaking of which, Phantom of the Opera will be coming to town soon.... |

Gah! A 2nd chance but we still don't have a push date for our software and I just committed to another trip to SF in May. :(
Have a great time and I'll have to live through photos and trip reports! |

But it's going to turn into a swanking anyways!
|
I'm not sure if it's been 48 hours, but I'm bowing out of consideration.
I've never been on a Cruise, and that's because they don't really appeal to me. I'm willing to challenge that assumption, but not with a 2-week cruise. 2-weeks contiguous vacation would be very difficult for me to get ... and frankly, a cruise would be 130th on my list if I were to take 15 consecutives days off for vacation. Sorry, Chernabog. I hope you find a fantastic cabin-mate. |
Awwwww pooh! I just would prefer not to room with someone I don't know for two weeks, you know? Still haven't heard back from Sadako yet.... hmmmm... I don't think putting this same type of thing up on MC would yield results that I'd want.

Hey we all have our priorities and mine is Bon Jovi so there...plus not everyone can get time off weekends evenings sometimes to do the other free or nearly free swankings so ;) I have my priorities straight Bon Jovi first lmao...i work hard for what little money i do have that is my entertainment lmao...
|
You have your priorities with the money you have. Bon Jovi is first for you. Cruises are first for others, other swankings are first for others. Alot all of us can't make the weeknight swankings because of traffic. So we don't go. There is plenty for all and we make what we can. We do what interests and is important to us.
There is a swanking thread, why don't you post some ideas of things you could make, would like (and could afford) to do? |
It's too bad, because the money's no problem for me. And I'd love to experiment with cruising with this particular group of people (and, hmmm, maybe experiment with cruising while I'm rooming with the likes of Chernabog!)
But 2-weeks off is just too much for me to manage all at once ... and I'd regret not spending that same amount of time having the more indepth explorations of Europe and other land-based areas I've always longed for. But, well, if he hasn't found a roomie by then ... maybe Disneyphiles Cruise Party will totally convert me! |

Cruises are always fun, they're like giant floating hotels (or small cities). It isn't like you're sitting on the boat ALL the time (there are stops, shore excursions, etc.). You always meet new people from all over the world on cruises. They're pretty relaxing -- and I almost NEVER take relax-type vacations, mostly gogogoGOGOGOGO vacations. I agree though -- it is a long time to take off of work (and a long cruise... but it is nice to be able to completely escape from real life for a few weeks into a nonstressful atmosphere where you don't have to worry about anything whatsoever). I didn't go on vacation last year at all so that I could do this trip. Plus there's always Toyko in 2009 if you want something land-based ;) |
Steve.....being immersed in Disney the old fashioned way is SOOOO well worth it, and the plus is that a bunch of us LoTters will be there also....keep thinking about it...OK?
|
i am, i am. I hate letting Joe down, really. And I'd really like to go.
Why oh why is it TWO WHOLE WEEKS?! GAK! |
Quote:
For instance, the entertainment. In comparison, imagine "Animazement" enhanced about 1000%. ;) Not only that, but it's like old school DL magic 24/7. :) |

We're still not "in" for sure yet. Chris will probably NOT be able to get the time off. I don't know how I can leave Thurston for that long.
|
Hmmmmm well how bout you and I room up then? I mean, it isn't like we haven't seen each other's arses. Or that we aren't fabulous bitches. ;)
Give Thurston some Chris-bonding time. Or get service-dog certification for him in the next few months. He could be your little fella that carries around pills for you or something. (Hey, I've seen it happen) |
Hmmm talked to Sadako this morning and she can't get the time off work after all. Awwww pooh. She would've been a fun roommate too!!!
IsM? NA? Wanna be roomies? ;) |
Quote:
|
Quick! How do I make Thurston a service dog? ;)
|
^^ Heh I really knew a guy who had his toy poodle as his service dog -- the pooch was "certified" by something-or-other, and it had a little pouch around his neck in which he kept the guy's heart pills. In case the guy fell over and couldn't reach his pills, the dog was trained to bring the pill case over to his hand. (Of course, I don't think the dog could actually get the canvas pouch open itself or put a pill in the guy's mouth, lol)
|
He can be Chris's Hedon detector- he alerts when he senses unSwanky activity. (Like bingo).

Assuming things haven't changed in the last couple of years, it is pretty easy:
Quote:
Of course, whether DCL would recognize it is a completely different thing. |
Small animals are allowed if they are kept in their crates- Thurston is not very big. The last flight I was on there was a woman with a puppy, and the time before a lady had a cat that meowed almost all the way. (No one seemed to mind- everyone was trying to make kitty feel better).
|
Quote:
Thurston is small enough he may be able to go in a carrier under the seat though. FAR preferable. |
We've flown with our chihuahuas in the past. The rule is (or was) that you could have two animals that fit under the seat in each cabin.
|
Thurston is still small enough to fit in a carrier int he cabin.

I'm leaving all the animals Lucy and Ethel with Matt for about a week or so while i go to Chicago again this summer. Ha vacation away from them. I wouldn't mind leaving them for that long if i could go on the cruise lmao...seperation anxiety but just the daily grind of walks, feedings etc. That's what i won't miss.
|
Quote:
I'm so bummed I'll be missing this. Our push date isn't until at least June but I couldn't get the 10 days of coverage that close to it anyways(they have to fly out a co-worker to cover for me. Oh the perils of being the sole IT person in the state ;) ). So I feel a lil better knowing that even though they weren't sure when the push date was, we'll be at crunch time trying to get ready to push. |

I don't think we have a doctor on this board yet, do we? Lawyers yes, doctors no.

I've played doctor.

Here, how's this one: --------------------------------------------------------- Disney Magic c/o Disney Cruise Line 1313 All Who Come To This Happy Place Place Orlando, Florida 32837 Dear DCL: Enclosed please find: One (1) woman with a tangle of red hair, who answers to the luxurious and swanky name of "Not Afraid" and one (1) small cute widdle pug-dog, who sometimes answers to the name of "Thurston" but will run faster if you call him "Bacon" (hereinafter known as "Pooch"). The esteemed Mrs. Afraid suffers from a condition in which her hair grows mottled and limp, her eyes glaze over, she becomes taken with fits of excessive howling and stealing the bacon and/or Olszewski sculptures of other persons. Said condition, "Thurstonicus Missimus", cannot be cured, but the symptoms can be minimized to undetectable levels via repeated applications of saliva to the face by said Pooch. Therefore, it is urgent and necessary that Mrs. Afraid take the Pooch, who has been certified and trained in the saliva-transfer method after months of relentless and brutal conditioning, on your sailing establishment. If you have any questions about the above, please feel free to contact my wife, who will make you something yummy to eat until you forget the question. Thank you, and have a pleasant tour. Love and kisses, Dr. Kevy (or at least I played one once). ----------------------------------------------- See? Easy. |
I shall copy that to my personal I'm Not a Doctor but I Played DoctorŽ letterhead and mail it.
|
Cherny, that was brilliant!!! :snap:
