Happy LoTaverssary!

Hard to believe we've been here for 3 years, but it's true. Thank you swankers for making it happen.

Cheers!

Snowflake 01-09-2008 09:04 AM

Thank YOU to the founders of LoT, happy anniversary.
 :snap:

Ghoulish Delight 01-09-2008 09:34 AM

And what a three years it's been. Thank you illustrious hedonist leader, thank you swankiest fellow members ever. And thanks to Fab and Jonvn for the motivation!

Capt Jack 01-09-2008 09:39 AM

[sappy]
to those who come to this little corner of the world, I thank you for allowing me to be in some small way a part of your lives

you have treated me to some of the best times I could ever have imagined and been there with me, supporting me, through some of the worst I never could have dreamed possible

without asking for anything but my friendship in return

here's to you and all you do
[/sappy]

(P.S. we still need a bacon smilie)

DreadPirateRoberts 01-09-2008 09:44 AM

Happy Birthday!

Now that LoT is three, do we need to take up a collection to by it an AP?

mousepod 01-09-2008 09:46 AM

I never would have thought that a simple message board would have been the catalyst for such dramatic changes in my life.

Thanks for making this place so great.

innerSpaceman 01-09-2008 09:54 AM

Wow. Just wow.

i love this swanky place, and everyone who swanks here.

(Um, some kind of celebration this weekend seems in order)

BarTopDancer 01-09-2008 09:57 AM

Wow!

Motorboat Cruiser 01-09-2008 10:20 AM

Without a doubt, the swankiest little gathering on the web. Sincere thanks to all who made it happen and keep it going and to all of the wonderful posters who make it what it is.

Happy anniversary, LoT.

Cadaverous Pallor 01-09-2008 10:22 AM

Happy Birthday to our amazing creation. All of us make it what it is, with each and every post. Thank you, swankers!

Not Afraid 01-09-2008 10:24 AM

Three year, eh? It was one of those little tickle dreams in the back of Chris' mind that got us started. I'm so happy he listened to the dream and we went forward with it. My life wouldn't be the same - it would be much less fulfilling. Thank you everyone who has been a part of making the dream come true!

Kevy Baby 01-09-2008 10:30 AM

The LoT is not a message board: it is home. I absolutely love what this little slice of heaven has become.

Thank you not only to the founders (€uromeinke, FEJ. and Ghoulish Delight [STILL] RULE!!!), but to every person who posts here. You are all family to me.

JWBear 01-09-2008 10:34 AM

Happy Anniversary!!

We all have a LoT to be thankful for!

wendybeth 01-09-2008 11:16 AM

Wow- I can't believe it's been three years. All the drama, all the passion.....all the bacon!:D

I'm very happy to have a refuge from an un-Swanky world here, and I consider myself very fortunate to have such great company.

scaeagles 01-09-2008 11:21 AM

First place I go when I get on the internet, last place I check before logging off.

Where else can one go and be called homophobic, discuss his sphincter, be stalked by both a straight woman and a gay man, prostitute himself for appliances, discuss politics in a rational fashion, talk sports and literature and television and pop culture, and all that with such a varied group of backgrounds and opinions?

Long Live the LoT!

Morrigoon 01-09-2008 11:28 AM

And bacon, don't forget the bacon, ham butt.

Happy and swanky anniversary, LoT!

It's been said before, but... I love us.

Chernabog 01-09-2008 12:11 PM

Wow a Lottaversary! Thanks for the larfs and bacon! How is it that I still haven't hit loser status on here, that's so wierd! I post here like, constantly.

Anyone for maybe just a cocktail toast somewhere at the Resort on Saturday??

Hey now, there were a good number of "other founders" involved with designing and putting together the website that fateful day...

But even as important as anyone who helped to lay down the foundation are those people who have helped build this happy home.

Happy LoTaverssary!

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 01-09-2008 01:25 PM

As per usual I won't say much. Thanks for keeping me around and letting me follow you folks from doomed board after doomed board. Like Kevy said, this isn't so much a board but a family of great people.

I toast each one of you.

With apologies: I did not mean to snub anyone from that. I simply just wanted an avenue to post the hidden text.

How come the other progenrators of the LoT were not included in that? (And I hesitate to list names as I do not know who all was involved in that - I have a few names in mind, but I do not know if it is a complete list.)

In all seriousness, thank you all for taking me in to your board and your lives, and may the next three years, and all subsequent three-year intervals, be as much swanky fun as these have been.

Ahh... I hope I didn't come off as feeling snubbed. :) Just wanted to make sure I said something because a lot of people helped out who I don't think have ever been really recognized, whether it was wording, designing various bits and pieces, and most importantly of all <cough, cough, choke>... picking out colors and making them work... somehow!

I think the list was kept with them because they were the only ones really able to do the code, well, at least two of them - and the rest of us would pretty much be stuck staring at it. :) Because that would have been changed had we had someone with access on the girls' side.

keith - SuPeR K! 01-09-2008 02:48 PM

I can honestly say that some of the most amazing people I have ever met are on the LoT- you guys are awesome! I'm so glad to be a part of this... Happy Swankiversary!!!

Cheers to the Swank that is LoT!

innerSpaceman 01-09-2008 03:04 PM

Hmmm, I was thinking a happish happy hour thing. But let me get thru Thursday weirdness (where i won't have any internet access, btw) and see what Friday brings.

alphabassettgrrl 01-09-2008 03:04 PM

Three years??? Wow. Time flies! I couldn't be happier to be here. ::sniff:: I love y'all!

I think I'll be at the park on Friday. Can't do Saturday.

The hidden text was done by FEJ, on his own whim. I have no idea why he felt the need to post those three names, as there were many others who provided as much input and ingenuity into the creation of the LoT.

You know, I do believe Pirate Bill has created a new verb. Lotroversy: when a dispute reaches unSwanky depths. Don't know if we've gotten there yet, but this is a message board and some sad day that may come to pass. Still- cool word, PB!:snap:

I've seen ""Disney's Electrical Parade" at DCA. I'm talking about The Main Street Electrical Parade going down Main Street at DL.

A man can dream!

Isaac 01-11-2008 12:29 PM

I haven't seen the Main Street Electrical Parade on Main Street since August 2002.

BarTopDancer 01-11-2008 12:33 PM

We have LoTters that are blocked out tomorrow. So, I propose dinner outside the park and then cocktails at the "Swank Lounge", or the "AP lounge" (which would be my preference over the Swank Lounge). That way those visiting don't have to worry about transportation and those blocked out can still partake.

Cadaverous Pallor 01-11-2008 12:45 PM

Sounds good to me

My point exactly!

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 01-11-2008 01:37 PM

Louis said he is eager to meet up with us on Saturday.

So where is the 3 hour dinner gonna take place???

innerSpaceman 01-11-2008 01:49 PM

3-hour dinners always take place at The Jazz Kitchen, I believe.

OR for less time and money, we could just have some cocktails at the Swank Lounge in the Disneyland Hotel (near Steakhouse '55 fka Granvilles)

OR - we could break from tradition and have an even more expensive dinner at Steakhouse 55 fka Granvilles.

BTW, my vote is for the least expensive option. But I'm up for anything.

Chernabog 01-11-2008 01:50 PM

Awww crud, wish I could go. But I have a trial next week and will be otherwise engaged. Hopefully my little Starbucks Barista is coming over on Sunday night to *ahem* relieve some of the pressure.

BarTopDancer 01-11-2008 01:54 PM

My vote is for the least expensive option as well. But I am up for dinner and drinks. Somewhere.

Morrigoon 01-11-2008 01:57 PM

I should stay out of the dinner discussion since I'll be joining in after work, but I'm cool with the Hearthstone as well as the Swank Lounge. How about keeping it simple with dinner at Storyteller's followed by drinks at Hearthstone? That keeps the price point down and minimizes walking. (Although I still think the swank lounge is uber us.

'Twas fun seeing everyone. Nice small group, Storytellers dinner, pyro, and a treat ride on the Lilly Belle. :snap: (sorry for the red eye but it was dark in there!) It was so cool getting to see our out of towners!

Morrigoon 01-13-2008 04:09 AM

And a snub! Don't forget the snubbing (that's like forgetting bacon, man!)

tracilicious 01-13-2008 10:15 AM

I agree, a lovely evening. It was grand to defile the Lilly Belle with talk of polar bears being made of porn, or a porn star dyeing every time someone drinks a coke or the internet being the hovercars of porn or something like that. Good to see everyone!

BarTopDancer 01-13-2008 12:53 PM

Much funness! It was great to spend time with our out of towners. Typical Storytellers dinner - where they obviously did not want Lisa to tell her story. Hi!

Pyro (where are the lasers?!) and a ride on the Lilly Belle (sorry, only special groups allowed) were the perfect end to the evening.

Polar Bears are only good for Coke. Or every time you drink a Coke god kills a polar bear.

Every time you prevent cancer, you kill a polar bear, and they turn them into Coke.

Yes, give me a subject and I will twist it. Thankfully no Transformers showed up :) I don't think I made any friends in the Polar Bear community. :)

Thanks Morrigoon for the ticket. Thanks to all who were there, it was a grand time!!

Great photos CP! Thanks for sharing! I take it GD took the picture? Seems like he rarely shows up in the pictures. Unless he was not there, of course that would also explain his missingness. ;)

I'll have to take a ride on LB some day...
