Aspiring filmmakers, take note

Who needs extras, a multimilliondollar budget, months of shooting, or Steven Spielberg?

Gn2Dlnd 01-14-2008 12:51 AM

Why, are you getting rid of some?

Pirate Bill 01-14-2008 09:19 AM

It certainly is incredible what can be done these days.

However, one could argue that it was thousands of extras, a multi-million dollar budget, months of shooting, and Steven Spielberg that made it possible to do it on the cheap now.

Kevy Baby 01-14-2008 10:22 AM

Pretty cool, but I don't know of any aspiring filmmakers on this board. In fact, I don't think anyone here has any interest in film at all.

innerSpaceman 01-14-2008 11:30 AM

Um, I am an aspiring filmmaker.

(Of course, all I have left are the aspirations. I gave up any film career soon after moving to L.A., when I quickly discovered what a dog-eat-dog world of barely surviving moment-to-moment it is. My recent contacts with several independent filmmakers who have more guts than me have led to some personal regrets.)

LSPoorEeyorick 01-14-2008 11:54 AM

I'm pretty sure K was being sarcastic. (Since I can think of at least three of us.) (Cool short, btw.)

wendybeth 01-14-2008 12:01 PM

KB sarcastic? Not our sweet little Kevy.;)

Very cool, CP!

Disneyphile 01-14-2008 12:29 PM

AWESOME!!! :snap:

Btw, CineGear Expo is coming up this June, and there is an independent film festival with prizes.

Anyone interested in making a film together? (I'm totally serious.)

Are there any nude love scenes involved ?
(because if it's intricate to the plot I'd be more than happy to do it)

Heck, even it was just a gratuitous sex scene, I would do it.

innerSpaceman 01-14-2008 01:43 PM

And I'm interested ... with or without nude porn involved.

(but if it is, can zapppop be my fluffer?)

Please see attached resume. My shower-taking experience is extensive.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 01-14-2008 01:46 PM

Hey! I was in Jackie Brown! ;)

Morrigoon 01-14-2008 05:07 PM

I'd love to make a film together.

Moonliner 01-14-2008 05:31 PM

Moonie Junior aspires to filmmaker stardom...

I've been looking at Film camps for him, I found a cool three week camp from the New York Film Academy at Disney MGM. Then I saw the tuition: $3900. Not including room.

Think that's bad? Try pricing USC's summer film program.

Actually that's the first one I looked at. The pain was too great to even think about.

I understand. Subjecting your child to USC might get you in trouble with CPS.

:D :p

Yes!

I've been kicking around this idea for quite a while. I've been looking for a good vehicle.

katiesue 01-14-2008 08:32 PM

Count me in - my admin skills could come in handy.

innerSpaceman 01-14-2008 08:43 PM

Oooh, i haven't been involved in making a film since college! (not counting my masterpiece, "Day of the Mold," which is an early 80's classic!)

Let's put on a show!!!

(Did I mention i was hanging around a bunch of filmmakers at the Palm Springs Film Festival earlier in the week, and Ive got the jones??)

CoasterMatt 01-14-2008 08:47 PM

I'm a union member, so I'm good at sitting around the set looking surly ;)

Oh, I almost forgot, I did work on a couple music videos awhile back, some band from San Francisco called Metallica- wonder whatever happened to those guys? :)

Some people claim that they sold out.

Cadaverous Pallor 01-14-2008 10:04 PM

Do we have a grandfathered script?

JWBear 01-15-2008 10:44 AM

Who needs scripts?

Yeah; we do something along the lines of Spinal Tap/Best In Show/Waiting for Guffman/A Mighty Wind/For Your Consideration (a group of movies that I think NA has never seen).

JWBear 01-15-2008 11:10 AM

I was disappointed in For Your Consideration. His worst so far, IMO.

LSPoorEeyorick 01-15-2008 11:38 AM

Scripts are underrated!

Disneyphile 01-15-2008 11:44 AM

I started a thread for planning. :)

How many do you need?

Oh, and as an extra in "Howard the Duck," I did get to observe world class filmmaking first hand.

So what movie did you watch being filmed while being an extra on Howard the Duck?

Disneyphile 01-15-2008 12:05 PM

Visible mojo to ML for the best film crack ever. :snap:

Not Afraid 01-15-2008 02:52 PM

I've seen "Show" "Guffman" "Tap" and "Wind".

And not Spinal Tap? It's, by far, the best of the bunch!

LSPoorEeyorick 01-15-2008 04:09 PM

She said she saw it, though. "Tap."
