I won!

Yes. I am a winner! of bagel-y goodness no less.

Our local radio station does a weekly giveaway of bagels and schmears for the email that they think deserves them the most. I gave them our sob story of having to get up so very early... and how when it rains the street floods and we have to drive around "road closed" signs to get in. Poor poor us.

And yes - it's true! I won bagels for our office.

Needless to say - I'm very popular today.

:snap: :snap: for me.

BarTopDancer 03-09-2005 11:21 AM

Woohooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MerryPrankster 03-09-2005 11:24 AM

:snap: :snap: for you!! They should now give you the rest of the day off -- after you eat your bagel, of course!

cirquelover 03-09-2005 01:17 PM

Free bagels always sound good, unless you're on some low carb diet. Congratulations! I bet the office crowd is impressed.

Claire 03-09-2005 01:38 PM

Mmmm......I love Noah's Bagels and their schmeary goodness!!! Did you also get the coffee boxes? Those are kinda cool!

Congratulations!

mousepod 03-09-2005 02:30 PM

Congrats on the win!

As a New York boy, though, I feel that it's my obligation to point out that there ain't nothin' like a real New York bagel.

If you need convincing, order a box of bagels from H & H Bagels

They pack 'em at the end of the day while they're still warm and overnight them to you fresh and yummy.
(Note: don't have them sent to your office, because the fragrant aroma wafting from the box will guarantee you won't have any left to bring home...)

Betty 03-09-2005 06:28 PM

Mmmmm. That sounds yummy.

I've always wanted to try making bagels at home but never have. Bet they'd be super fresh and yummy.

Yes. Apparently yummy is my word of the day. ;)

Gemini Cricket 03-09-2005 08:03 PM

Congrats, Betty! :)

blueerica 03-09-2005 08:08 PM

The best bagel in Los Angeles is the cheese and onion bagel from Brooklyn bagels on Beverly in Koreatown. I buy 'em by the bagful und freeze 'em. Sweet, precious bagel, how I love thee. You are my only true love, bagel. My one and only. When I lived in North Carolina, do you remember my parents sending you buy mail in bulk so I would never have to be without you? Remember that? Hah? Remember? Bagel? Air mail? Parents? Remember that?

Noah's is good, but there is something about them that bugs me. I can't quite put my finga on it.

House of Bagels in SF is great, too.

Earliest bagel memory: I can still remembah my grandpap waking me up at dawn to go out and pick up fresh bagels and pastries. The streets were pitch black, I was in my pajamas and I remember I got to pick out a cookie. Anditwasgood. And I remember the butter. My grandparents went through almost an entire of butter each morning. That'salotofbutter, letmetellya. Anyway, my family took their baked goods very, very seriously. I try to keep that tradition alive.

It's true. No joke.

High road schmigh road!

I win them on my working Saturdays, but that's only because one of the office ladies is quite kind. She makes sure I get a sesame seed bagel. YUM!

dsnylndmom 03-09-2005 10:29 PM

:snap: Wow! that's awesome!

BarTopDancer 03-09-2005 10:48 PM

Heh. Should I tell you all that we get toasty warm bagels every Monday and Friday?

Life is sweet

Its 11:31 in the a.m. and I am just finishing up my morning bagel, soy sausage (2) and cuppa coffee. I've got nothing to do and all day to do it. The Good Life.

Ghoulish Delight 03-10-2005 12:36 PM

I was slow getting ready this morning so I decided to skip eating at home and grab something out of the vending machine. I figured I had enough change in my car. I didn't. And all I have is 20s in my wallet. I'm hungry. I want a bagel.

MickeyD 03-10-2005 01:02 PM

Everyone knows I hate the class I'm taking, right? I probably would have dropped it months ago but for one thing....the warm, fresh out of the oven goodness that is the bagels they give us.

Ok, well the bagels and the whole I'd be fired if I didn't take this class thing.

Cadaverous Pallor 03-10-2005 01:06 PM

Hmm, where to get a bagel sandwich around here...

I can honestly say that the BEST bagel and schmear I've ever had were the ones my husband brought me back from New York. Even though they had been carried on a plane, all the way. And were cold...they were still the very very best bagel ever! Yummm!

A bagel is sounding good right about now....

Favorite bagel topping...Garlic Bagel, Chive Cream Cheese, Slice of Ham! Ahhhh!

Cadaverous Pallor 03-10-2005 04:08 PM

Well I went to a crappy place and had a crappy bagel and egg salad. Crappy.

Must continue my search for good lunch bagels another day.

Betty 03-10-2005 07:36 PM

Follow up to the bagel story...

My work has a work cat. He's usually out in the factory - but I bring him in, in the morning, for some kitty treats and lovers, and occasionally a new kitty toy. He sneaks in other times of the day - and at least half of us just let him roam without taking him outside.

So, we ate the tasty bagels and there are leftovers that aren't put away right away. One of our designers comes in to find Max, the kitty, face first in the open tub of cream cheese, eating away and basically frosting his little kitty face with it! Who knew cats liked cream cheese.

Today I found him lounging under one of the beds (we sell murphy beds) just resting away the day, like he owns the place. It's becoming apparent that we are only visitors in his luxurous home where everyone spoils him and he occasionally catches a mouse (or a bunny. yes, it was very sad.)

Mmmm, just finished my weekly roasted garlic bagel with garlic herb cream cheese. It always ensures a nice quiet Friday where people leave me alone
