I'm gonna spend some time away from this board...

I'm posting this as to why i'm not on here or posting. Brad if you need information about April just PM me or let Matt know and we'll figure out about the animals situation.

For reasons i am not gonna get into on here i do not feel welcome anymore. I post responses and yes sometimes events i can not get to or make due to work. I do not have a Mon thru Fri job like everyone almost always has on here... So i work weekends. Other times it does take money and traveling etc. That i just don't have the energy or desire to spend sitting in a car trying to attempt to get down there...

I know i could organize a swanking event myself i just have LIFE to attend to outside of all this. Work and marriage and a household with daily chores and activities and animals to attend to.

I'm sorry if i am posting negative responses alot of times or making it sound old to my replies about certain events...i just thought that i would the day would never come where i was told "my responses are getting old". "that i make the same excuses".

So to those who i offended sorry. I do not want to bother anyone so...i guess some time is needed away from here for obvious reasons.

You can either email me or let Matt know if you need to speak to me....

It was fun while it lasted....another board i do not feel at home at anymore...

Have fun everyone....

cya

:(

innerSpaceman 01-30-2008 01:07 PM

Um, sorry you feel this way.

You know, we have lots of members who are out of town, and can't make events for that reason. So just because you work on weekends does not make you some sort of pariah for being unavailable for some or most of the get-togethers that happen.

Ugh, here is it January 30, and we DID NOT have a January swanking.

Bah, the swanking season is only 3 months long, and we've blown January for the first time in LoT history.

But you know what? ... Swankings and events are NOT ALL OF WHAT THE LOT IS ABOUT. It's a tiny part of the swanky message board scene we have cultivated.

I hope you're not feeling unduly left out of events that do or do not end up happening. I'm sure plenty of people who live out of town or out of state also get pangs of 'waaaaa' when they read about fun events planned or done.

Anyways, I hope you will reconsider. We'd miss you!

Take a break, if you must. Come back if you can.

I beg to differ. My honey swanked me quite well this month. ;)

I respect your need for a break, MMG. Give lots of love to the critters and spend some time rocking out to Bon Jovi. :)

madmonkeygirl 01-30-2008 01:14 PM

I'm gonna spend some time away from this board...

ISM it's not about being left out of events or not being able to go. It's about me posting that i can't go for obvious reasons. There is a person on this board. (I put on ignore now). That made it obvious to me in a comment and pm's that what i'm posting is "old and that i need to do something about it if i can't go" maybe to start one on my own...but i have no free time at all barely.

I have other obligations and responsibilities. I do not feel left out. I felt loved here on the board until today. When i was personally "attacked" yes i was...Because of this i am really wary now of everyone sorry but until i know that won't happen again...and no i did not get an "sorry" and i'm not expecting one from them either.

I will take a break but i will definitely post on here about Bon Jovi and the concerts definitely :) Cuz who knows what good things are in store in April.

Just brings me down and i've been crying and i do not want to post my whole story about myself on here either. Those of you who know know. Those who don't just give me time.

Those who have responded to this post i thank you from the bottom of my heart.

JWBear 01-30-2008 01:21 PM

Please don't leave the board because of one person. Whoever they are, they do not speak for the rest of us!

innerSpaceman 01-30-2008 01:28 PM

Um, yeah, even if their position seems like they might have some Official Voice status ... there's no such fvcking thing!

Anyway, go ... heal ... get better .... i'm sorry you got your feelings hurt. That sux. But you are loved in these here parts, and we hope to see you around here again some day.

blueerica 01-30-2008 01:28 PM

I really hope you wouldn't leave LoT over a single incident. I'm sorry it's brought you down so much, but I know a lot of us here really do like you. If we, as a whole, gave you any other impression, I'm very sorry for that.

I'm guessing from your first post that the whole thing might be a misunderstanding. Sometimes when you post that you can't go somewhere, like the thing at the Hearthstone, it reads a little like 'you can't waste your time' to come see anyone. I don't think that's what you mean at all, but it could be read that way... maybe someone was trying to send you a signal on it, in a more private way? I know that's how a lot of people use mojo comments, both positive and negative. Sometimes the shock of getting negative feedback can take away from the actual intent, so I'm hoping that's a bit of insight from my own experience.

Anyhow, I like you a lot and I hope that you stay. Maybe just take a breather and do what DP suggests, love up some critters and rock out to some Bon Jovi!

:)

Scrooge McSam 01-30-2008 01:43 PM

Time

You have it.

But when I come back to Disneyland in about 34 years and don't get to meet you I'm gonna be pissed.

Eliza and NirvanaMan are still on my **** list from last time. And I don't think there's any redemption for Leo.:p

Seriously, I'm sorry things got wonky. I hope it all works out where you can still participate and have a good time. Because even if you can't do all the meetups, the online stuff is still a lot of fun.

I suspect BE is right here. When I read your reply in the Hearthstone thread I was like ok... you have better things to do then spend time with us. Almost insulting to the organizer.

We're all busy and we make things that are important to us a priority. I know I said it before in another thread somewhere - not all of us can make everything. There are so many things on weeknights that those of us in OC can't make because of work and traffic.

From what little I remember.

Nephythys 01-30-2008 02:22 PM

*sigh*

Time away sometimes helps- I have taken self-imposed breaks from LoT in the past.

Morrigoon 01-30-2008 02:32 PM

Jeez, I go to lunch and miss all the hubbub...

MMM: Perhaps you're taking missing meets too personally?

I mean, even if you never make it to any meets (I'm looking at you, Leo!) you're still a part of this community. In fact, you don't even need to apologize for not being able to make them. I think everyone here knows that you live way up in the farthest part of the Valley and have a job that gets in the way (hell, I live in the far south part of OC, so a lot of Hollywood swankings are just plain out for me).

Nobody "expects" you to attend meets, this isn't that kind of a group. I mean, sure we'd love to see you guys at stuff, but everyone has a life, and life doesn't always make it conducive to get to stuff. Maybe just don't worry about it so much?

I don't know what all was in the original PM, but based on what you've posted and what I've read in past threads, maybe what they're getting at is that you sound all hurt because you can't get to meets - but it's just not that big of a deal. You can make an event or you can't. Nobody holds it against you either way. I know I've posted the "Would love to but can't because...." responses in meet threads before myself, but I do it more to express an interest in the subject matter (in hopes of future similar meets I might be able to make) than to complain about the timing.

Ugh, I feel like I'm rambling. I hope something I said in there makes sense. Basically, I wouldn't stress over the not-able-to-get-to-meets thing. I don't think there's anyone on this board who could possibly make it to every single meet. We all have our various scheduling/financial issues that affect us and force us to make choices. You're certainly not alone in that, and nobody holds it against you.

scaeagles 01-30-2008 02:34 PM

I've been to one meet. I was scared and ran away.

I like it on the board, though.

Morrigoon 01-30-2008 02:36 PM

RStar 01-30-2008 05:23 PM

Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

I know I've gotten so buisy that I can't make the meets much anymore. I'm lucky to run into someone by accident and say hi for two minutes. And I don't spend half the time on the boards any more.

Take care of yourself, and I hope to see you around just the same.

wendybeth 01-30-2008 05:56 PM

If you feel you need to take a break, or a permanent vacation, that's certainly your prerogative and we'll all respect that. I'm reading in your posts that it's one person who is making you feel uncomfortable about stuff, am I right? Then why throw the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak? Deal with that person via PM, e-mail or talk to one of us mods or admins and see if we can smooth things out, but why the self-imposed exile? Again, that is your decision, but I think you can see by the above posts that you will be missed if you decide to stay away.

It's not cuz i can't make the meets...it's from one person who "attacked me via privately". Sorry but i can't defend myself and fight anymore. I've done that all my life and i'm burned out. I just wanted a place to be safe and loved and to be able to post on here up til today i never thought i would have to defend myself always thought this was a fun place..debate and express opinions...

GC if Jon Bon Jovi asked me to stay i would stay. :)

Cindy you make a good point and it's not cuz of that. Yeah i do feel bad sometimes not being able to make a meet up or swanky but that's life.

I've been told not to post that i can't make this event or that event that it is getting old my excuses so...i won't....

I think i'm getting sick...so i need to go to bed now...achy headache i really hope not i don't want or need to be sick in any way or fashion...

wendybeth 01-31-2008 01:34 AM

Well, even if I lived in SoCal, I certainly wouldn't be able to (and wouldn't be expected) to make all the meets, trips and whatnot. Everyone on here has 'a life' and the get-togethers are to be fit in when and if it's feasible. I wish I could see all of you more, but I can't due to the distance. You're closer geographically so you might feel the pressure to join up more, but it's not expected and I'm sure no one wants to make you feel like you have to show at each and every event. I dunno- I think the fact that people want to see you is a good thing, but maybe I'm missing out on something here. I hope you can work this out and stay with us, but in the end it's all up to you. I also hope you feel better- I've been sick for nearly six weeks, and it's getting very old.:(

Who the hell on this forum thinks they have the right to tell you what to post or what not to post?

That makes me sick too- in a pissed off way.

Not Afraid 01-31-2008 09:36 AM

If the person giving you direction in a PM is a Moderator or an Admin, then you probably need to take a look at what they are saying. If the person is NOT a Moderator or Admin, then you should put the person on ignore and ignore the PM. To take any sort of action based on the comments on ONE person on a board of many is a of an over reaction.

Ponine 01-31-2008 10:29 AM

I need to respond to what NA said.
I agree with her completely, BUT I also know exactly where you are coming from. I've been there, and I've blocked them.

It has to be up to you. Will that one person be the one who tells you what you should be doing?

If they are a Mod, fine, give their opinions some thought.
If they are not, stop and consider what they are asking you to do.

Alex 01-31-2008 10:32 AM

I don't know who you are so I say this as a complete outsider and without a hint of bias:

Ok.

madmonkeygirl 01-31-2008 10:44 AM

I'm gonna spend some time away from this board...

The person who has PM'd me and told me those things aren't a Moderator of this board so. Just a regular person on here...what you're saying on page 4 makes total sense. I don't want them to win.

People really need to think before they write. Yes we all have opinions, beliefs etc. This board is a place to express them and yourselves. But when one personally "attacks" someone in writing on here in private even it makes me stop and wonder "am i free to express myself anymore?"

Everyone has a right to respond to posts everyone without being mean and rude and hurtful. I did have not gotten an apology and no they weren't joking in my eyes...sorry but the way i see it was just plain outright mean and i did take it personally and was very upset.

It's not about making meets etc. It's about being able to post on this board and not have someone attack someone else. Enough said...They know who they are...

I did put them on ignore yesterday. Took them off last night...

yes i woke up with a little start of a head cold...oh no...i really don't wanna be sick with this thing. My mom and sister were i was around my mom at her worst during her sickness and my coworker is finally well and now...at least one more day of work then two days off to run errands even though i don't feel like it...

Ah yes. That was when Babette and I were on the adventure trip of several thousand miles:
  • Philly for work
  • Drive to Detroit (via PSU) to meet freinds
  • Beaver Island for the annual 4th of July party with my Detroit crew
  • Drive back to Detroit
  • Drive to Lake Cumberland, KY for a wild houseboat adventure/Redneck-themed wedding
  • Drive back to Detroit for work and for Babette to check out tres cool Henry Ford museum (now called the Henry Ford; how trendy)
As for Eliza, she has to come up with her own excuses. She definitely was not with me back then. :)

Bingo- but some people feel too much of a need to control others and impose their control by embarrassing or hurting someone enough to do what they want.

There are two sides to every story, and since only one has been publicly presented we're all a bit short of information- which is very fine with me. The matter has been resolved, but in the future it would be nice to not have a public viewing of a private matters like PM"s and Mojo- kind of walking a thin line here, and it would be unfortunate to let a small matter blow up for no good reason.

Not to beat a dying horse here, but I have a bit of sympathy for the mystery PMer. I stumbled over what i can only assume is the post that started this drama and I gotta say....there are several ways to read it. As an outsider with zero stake in the thread, i understand what mmg was saying. Howeva, the post can be read in such a way that it could (and did) offend certain parties. Completely unintentional on mmg's part, no doubt. But there it is.

Agreed....say what you gotta say, girl. But you might want to edit your posts for clarity. So much of the nuance of verbal communication can be lost with message board posts -- and misunderstandings and hurt feelings can often be the result

Personally, and not meaning any disrespect to the OPer because different people have vastly different personalities, but I've been called many a name both literally and implied here on the LoT and precursors to this wonderful place by many members who continue to post here regularly and I communicate with. They include, but are not limited to bigot, homophobe, and racist.

Gotta have a thick skin. It took several months of jonvn on another site to inspire our great LoT founding fathers to establish this place. Some harshness or even downright stupidity here or there shouldn't scare anyone away.

cirquelover 02-01-2008 10:11 AM

Yes but do you believe both kitties stories? You know kitties can lie too. Every time I break up a kittie fight they both look at me and say "She did it!". So who do you believe, hubby always takes the little ones side but she usually starts it. Speaking of which I can hear the boy right now yelling " Tigger no, don't attack Shadow!!" Never a dull moment with kitties!

Yeah, they're all liars. And con artists- as soon as they got the whole household awake, they turn into cuddly little snuggle monsters. Brats.

They just want attention and will get it any way they can (wake everyone up then become adorable).

I'm not sure how to take that...

cirquelover 02-04-2008 10:46 AM

I was wondering if you'd see that one GusGus. Oooo, Kevy's in trouble now.

Morrigoon 02-04-2008 10:59 AM

Luckily for me, GusGus's shopping gene is not dominant in her life.

Morrigoon 02-04-2008 05:32 PM

Oh good, so you won't mind if we all head to the fabric district in a few weeks then?

This may be so, but I have shopped with her. She shops with purpose!

GusGus 02-04-2008 08:40 PM

Did somebody mention the fabric district?
