Star Wars for iSm (and other Star Wars Fans)
New cartoon on August 15th. Just thought I'd let you know.
|
Saw it in Variety today, but thanks ever so (especially since my subscription is about to expire, and so i easily could have missed it).
But I'm so confused. It's a new Clone Wars cartoon series based on the same subject as the old Clone Wars cartoon series. huh? Another oddity - they're releasing a 100-minute version of the new Clone Wars theatrically ... like 2 weeks before it airs on tv. |
I'm just annoyed that George keeps ploughing this Clone Wars "prequel" era for storylines. It has failed to pay off in spades, in three brain-numbingly tedious movies. (The Cartoon Network series was kind of fun, but hardly must-see.) In an animated series, we could easily go beyond Chapter Six, and into uncharted (not foregone conclusion-based) new territory.
I guess it is to the credit of the first series of films that I still care and want this franchise to become wonderful. |
I heard about this back in July but forgot about it.
Can't say I give a damn. |
F'n Lucas. Why did he have to slaughter that which the world loved? :tears:
|
I'm with flippy...I just can't bring myself to care. Stupid prequels. I want to see Han, Luke and Leia! Not whiny-boy and fashion-victim girl.
Hubby went out of town last year, and I thought I'd waste some of that time having a little private SW marathon (of all 6), and I found the prequels unwatchable. So much worse than I'd remembered... I'm now an unapologetic basher. But none of that will ever spoil my love of the first, um, two (I consider ROTJ the first of the bad films). |
Yep, i can't even watch Attack of the Clones anymore ... which, at the time, i considered the "good one"
Um, don't even own Revenge of the Sith, that's how much I loathed it. I'm glad to say my own private 6-episode marathon would not even be possible. |
* This is not the movie you are looking for *
This is not the movie we are looking for * You can go about your business * You can go about your business. Move along. |
At eleven, RoTJ was heaven. Just sayin'.
But no, I don't think I can suffer any more prequel-era SW. |
Oh, and on LSD, RotJ was heaven, too.
Just sayin' ;) |
I have to admit that I went back and watched the prequels when they showed them in HD on Cinemax, and didn't totally hate them. Every time I've watched the prequel trilogy, I've included the Clone Wars cartoon between the second and third movie (I have both of the commercial DVDs, but prefer to watch a version that someone stitched together with the opening and closing credits of each episode removed), and it's my favorite of the prequels. I'm not completely disgusted with the idea of the upcoming cartoons, though I'm not sure what the point really is. The Clone Wars cartoon provided a necessary narrative bridge between the two movies - I don't see that this is really an era rich with stories - especially since the war ended badly. Are WWII movies popular in Japan or Germany?
|
Letters from Iwo Jima was a big hit in Japan.
I'm sure the citizens of some planet somewhere must like the Star Wars prequels. |
I enjoyed watching the Spanish dubbed prequels- no Hayden whine.
|
check this out. It's from Camille Paglia's column this week:

Sorry mp, but by the end of "Sith" I just wanted to bash my head against the wall to make the images go away.
I <3 RotJ |
^ um, I wish that had occurred to me. I was that close to poking out my eyes with red-vines. Head bashing would have been easier.
|
So, I still haven't seen the 6th, er uh 3rd epsisode - does this mena I should watch some cartoons first before "completing" the series?
|
You should watch it.
Just make sure you have a bottle of cognac by your side. |
I should probably post this in the You Tube thread, but if I do I might miss those I most want to
|
More disturbing than Mormon porn. Srsly. And the singers were one shy of a line-up. Work- release at its "finest", I suppose.
|
Hahaha, YuB nUb is teh awewome.
Yes, one of George's more brilliant moves to cut one of the series' most popular songs from the revisionatized film. keenly wizard. |
So am I the only one that had no idea there was an English translation for that song or did they just make one up?

I think they should do a series (if someone hasn't already) based entirely on Han Solo's thoughts, musings and observations while he was encased in carbonite. In real time.
And it would still move at a faster pace than the prequels. |
A-le-lu-te-lub!

If you want to sound really dumb, sing it in English. |

My elementary school music teacher (why yes, the one who told me I had no vocal talent whatsoever and should mouth the words) made us sing that song over and over and over again. Over multiple years. As far as I can remember, we only ever sang that and the vocal score from HMS Pinafore. And never sang anything else. </bait>
|
We sang Yub Nub around a campfire in Death Valley (aka Tatooine). I love that song!
|
The best title ever for an article was on "Aint It Cool News", about one of the prequels, and it was entitled "GEORGE LUCAS RAPED MY CHILDHOOD". lmao
(I feel violated by Lucas The Hutt too. I absolutely refuse to purchase any Star Wars-related videos, toys or video games until he dies. Not kidding.) |

Ok, this is terribly out of date and mostly lame, but there are a couple of gems in here, and with this thread percolating I figured why the hell not post it here.
Just check out the dead-on ones: McCain/Vader, Obama/Leia, Clinton/Lando. YMMV on the rest. |
Who's up for a StarWars Nerd Swanking to Death Valley?

Don't talk back to Darth Vader... He'll getcha!

That 3 year old has a better of the movie plot that I do!
|
Obi Kenobi and the siny guy.
Nice. :) Cuuuuute |
He has to block the little pokey ball.
|
Hey, the kid knows how to pronounce Princess Leia. High marks for that.
|
Adorable video! I feel bad for the father who posted it though; seems some child-labor group got wind of it and started spamming his comments, saying that he's violating child labor laws and using his daughter to promote his business. I don't understand that at ALL; a dad got a cute video of his daughter and posted it for his friends, it got a wider audience, and rightly so because it's so damn cute. There's no connection within the video to his business.
|
So Cute!! Why people would be so stupid as to say that man violated child labor laws, I don't know. They're just haters!
|
|
George couldn't deliver, but 20 years later MTV did.
