LSPoorEeyorick 02-13-2008 10:14 PM

Lovely - some of my favorite park shots ever! Particularly fond of the statues in NOS.

WOW! Beautiful shots! Between these pics and CMs of a few days ago, I really would like to experience the park like this again. It's been a LONG time since I've had the feeling of having the park to myself.

BTW, what is the Cheshire Cat doing in NOS?

I'm so glad someone else saw that too.
I was thinking either the Cheshire Cat or Jack Skellington...

OogieBoogie was my instant thought, but the more I looked at it, it was so OBVIOUSLY the CC hiding out in NOS.

Gemini Cricket 02-13-2008 10:32 PM

Yes, you're right. I guess Jack has those big eyes...

Today was a lovely day.
:)

belleh5 02-13-2008 10:53 PM

Great pictures GC!! Thank you:) Now I really miss Disneyland........

RStar 02-13-2008 10:54 PM

Man, GC. You're a great photographer!

I long for the days of the mid 1990s....

Cadaverous Pallor 02-13-2008 11:07 PM

Stellar photography. I thought I'd seen every angle at the park - wrong. :)

cirquelover 02-13-2008 11:10 PM

Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing your creative layout. It just makes me miss it that much more though.

Gemini Cricket 02-13-2008 11:13 PM

I appreciate the kind words very much.

I've been meaning to take a day and just take pictures at the park. I decided to take a break from the apt today.

The park was dead. There weren't a whole lot of people there today. But with the Jungle Cruise, IASW, Matterhorn and Alice closed there would have been a ton of complaints if there were more people there.

One rebellious thing I did was let myself into the roped off Haunted Mansion Fastpass area to take pics of the statues. No one saw.
:)

alphabassettgrrl 02-13-2008 11:13 PM

Great shots! I don't think I've ever seen the park that empty and that includes being there in the rain.

CoasterMatt 02-13-2008 11:33 PM

What's more fun, is taking pics like GC's, when the park ISN'T that empty :)

Just when I thought I was taking good pics, I'm gonna have to do better ;)

NickO'Time 02-14-2008 01:58 AM

Loved them all. Thank you.:snap: :snap:

Scrooge McSam 02-14-2008 04:52 AM

I was just going to post the same thing! I loved this shot!

Ghoulish Delight 02-14-2008 08:24 AM

Whee, great shots!

Kevy Baby 02-14-2008 08:33 AM

Good job GC. Sometimes, it is easy to overlook the details (although we would notice if they weren't there): I love how you captured the unseen.

A lot of I Spy photos in there!

innerSpaceman 02-14-2008 08:45 AM

Wow, that was awesome, GC! :) Beautiful stuff.

Deebs 02-14-2008 10:33 AM

Wow!

You made me really, really want to go back there. Right this minute.

Ponine 02-14-2008 10:41 AM

Gc, are your photos on Flikr or anywhere? I saw one that I wish to download.

mousepod 02-14-2008 10:48 AM

I think I need to get my butt to DL. Your pictures are a geek's vacation pamphlet.

:) I've got one as my desktop wallpaper riiiiiiight now. Thanks GC! Purty!

Nephythys 02-14-2008 11:15 AM

That aroused deep feelings of longing and affection for Disneyland. I can not wait to be there soon!

Great pics- thanks!

Gemini Cricket 02-14-2008 11:49 AM

I'm totally blown away by your comments. They made my morning. I've been meaning to take a day just to take pictures at he park. It was cool.
I also noticed that if you're at Disneyland by yourself without a camera some people look at you like you're some creepy person. If you're alone at Disneyland with a camera and you look around a lot, especially up at a building or something, then people think you're some sort of reporter. I had people stand next to me and take a look at what I was shooting. It was kind of cool.

Ah. Uh. It's on Photobucket. But I can send the pic to you if you want. I have it on my desktop somewhere. PM me.
:)

If anyone else wants a pic let me know. I'll ask GD or zapppop to tell me how to send it to you.

innerSpaceman 02-14-2008 12:04 PM

Actually, GC ... your photos made me realize that I kinda hate Disneyland.

I can't remember being there on a day when such details could be readily appreciated. The place is always mobbed and bordering on unpleasant because of that.

I envy you your empty day. February is great for those.

February 1986, that is.

Le Sigh.

We need a real terrorist threat to clear the parks out again

:rolleyes::D

Gemini Cricket 08-16-2010 07:50 PM

I'm reminiscing. Looking at these pics again made me happy. Even though that was a rough patch I was in at the time.

What made me even happier were the comments. You guys rock.

:)

BarTopDancer 08-16-2010 08:21 PM

RStar 08-17-2010 06:35 AM

Thanks for memories! I forgot how cool those pics are!

And you rock more! :D

Wow, has it been 2 1/2 years already? Dang!

MouseWife 08-17-2010 08:27 AM

I had never seen these pictures. They are awesome!! Certainly made me want to be there right now, though.

Have you been gone that long?

Wasn't it fortunate for you, being able to be there in that special place, during a rough patch? You took from it what you needed. It gave you what it had.

Your perspective is awesome.

I don't remember seeing this thread on its first go-round! Beautiful pictures, and something I've never seen - the falling apart box of dynamite in Frontierland.
I didn't realize I was looking at an old thread, I thought you just had a bunch of pictures saved up that you decided to post. The fact that you'd gotten a typical hazy SoCal day struck a chord for me.

Kevy Baby 08-17-2010 01:33 PM

One point: this thread was created two-and-a-half years ago on February 13, 2008. It threw me off at first.

Cynthia 08-25-2010 09:37 AM

Great photos, Brendan and I will be at the park tonight, I don't think we will find any such corners . . . I remember having year passes about 25 years ago and being able to run wild in the park on rainy days in the winter . . . I doubt that still happens, but I will try for it anyway.

CoasterMatt 08-25-2010 10:21 AM

You should do a book, bro.

Find Susan - her and a friend are there today.
