The Testosterone Thread

I don't want to call it a "guy's" thread as I am sure that many women will be interested in some of these things.

To start, my dad sent me this link. It is a video of a race between a Bugatti Veyron against a Eurofighter Typhoon (a jet fighter).

For those who have never seen a Veyron:

The Veyron USED to be world's fastest production car (at 253.81 MPH with a 0-60 of 2.46 seconds) until it was surpassed by the Shelby SSC Ultimate Aero (which tops out at 257 MPH with a 0-60 of 2.78 seconds). The requisite pretty picture of the Shelby:

Kevy Baby 02-18-2008 07:15 PM

And then this one gets filed under "ridiculous but cool"

For those who have not seen this before, I give you:

The Dodge Tomahawk

From here:
Quote:

The Dodge Tomahawk is one angry looking machine, and one that I would gladly sacrifice a left arm to own (as long as I can still use my right arm to steer this thing, I think I’ll be ok). Formed by fusing the 500-horsepower, 505 cubic inch (8.3 liter) aluminum Viper V-10 engine with a motorcycle type body, this monster tops out at a potential of nearly 400 miles per hour, though no one has been brave enough to even coming close to testing that figure out. It needs four wheels to put the power to the ground, and each wheel has it’s own suspension, moving independently from the other three. You basically sit on top of one of the largest production engines on the market today and hold on while it blasts you to 60 MPH in just 2.5 seconds. If anyone asks “Why?”, no better answer has been crafter than “Why not?”. Apparently, if Dodge goes insane and puts this into production, a select few adrenaline junkies will be $250,000 poorer but 400 MPH richer. Sounds like a deal to me, now where do I go to sell my soul?
It reminds me of the episode of Monster Garage where they basically took the engine out a diesel truck and bolted wheels and steering mechanism to it.

scaeagles 02-18-2008 08:17 PM

Sweet. You mean I won't get in trouble for acting like an adolescent male in this thread?

Not Afraid 02-18-2008 08:34 PM

Speed is good but style is important too.....

blueerica 02-18-2008 09:24 PM

That looks like a penis tome - or two, or three.

Alex 02-18-2008 10:30 PM

I have been medically proven to have plenty of testosterone but sportscars and big boats do nothing for me. Nor do explosions unless I'm causing them.

So, to prove my manliness despite this deficiency I see your Bugatti and raise you a

cirquelover 02-18-2008 11:16 PM

Alex visible mojo to you, I just spit out hot chocolate!

I like the Shelby, by the way, that looks hot!

Kevy Baby 10-15-2008 07:05 PM

How about a chrome Veyron?

Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang - A special edition (only 5) of a special edition car. Also, here.

Also, if you want a web site with a lot of hi-rez images of a bunch of really cool cars, go here.

Drince88 10-16-2008 05:18 AM

Oh yea, I'm such a girl.

I see the picture of the Shelby and think "ohh, pretty blue"!

And the cornering and gas mileage on the ship are pretty lacking, too!

It isn't designed to go off road: its designed to go very fast ON road - and on GOOD roads. That original pic is a little deceptive on ground clearance (but is a damned good picture of the car). This one gives you a little different perspective on the ground clearance.

alphabassettgrrl 10-16-2008 07:22 PM

Love that car!

Saw a couple Lotus today. One was *really* pretty. Kind of a waste to have a car like that in a city this crowded.

CoasterMatt 10-20-2008 03:06 PM

I got to ride home in a Lamborghini today - it's fun having your picture taken at EVERY intersection.

Capt Jack 10-20-2008 04:36 PM

Kevy Baby 10-20-2008 06:08 PM

If you had DRIVEN it, I would be required to kill you out of spite.

CoasterMatt 10-20-2008 06:18 PM

It's good to have friends :)

Kevy Baby 10-20-2008 06:18 PM

I was curious, so I checked. It seems one can rent a Lamborghini for just $1,450 per day. I am not sure if it is a Gallardo or a Murcielago as the description says both and they show the Murcielago.
