Leap Day Swanking?

So in case you hadn't noticed, it's a leap year this year. And the 29th just happens to fall on a Friday. It's really a stupid reason for a swanking, which is exactly why it's a perfect reason for a swanking. (Gotta get in at least one Disneylanding before the spring break crowds!)

I was thinking of a 7:30pm gathering at the hub, followed by a tour of all the "leap" attractions (eg: anything with an up-and-down element, such as the carousel, coasters, etc.) This is a very loose definition, but the more creative your excuse for why a particular attraction counts, the more likely we are to get on it, right?

Please come fed so we will have time to ride things - we can always gather for nutritious libations after park closing if necessary ;)

(Since I might be using a sign-in for someone that evening, I may be able to assist one or two people with park entry, PM me)

So what's it gonna be McFly... are you IN or OUT?

innerSpaceman 02-21-2008 05:55 PM

Hahaha, I love this idea.

I can't get to the Park on a Friday night till kinda late, but I'll be in for the Last Leap.

LSPoorEeyorick 02-21-2008 06:02 PM

Aw, I will be leaping at WDW that day but I'll be thinking of y'all!

Sohrshah 02-21-2008 07:03 PM

Well, I'll likely need yet another sign in, which isn't very fair, so we'll see....

Kevy Baby 02-21-2008 07:29 PM

It is not a blockout day for any pass, so there is that!

Kevy Baby 02-21-2008 07:30 PM

It appears that Sohrshah is both a Bitter East Coaster AND will be there on Friday.

alphabassettgrrl 02-21-2008 07:46 PM

I'll be working that night. I think it's a concert. Have fun.

cirquelover 02-21-2008 07:48 PM

I'm not on the East coast but I'm a bitter Oregonian, how's that! Have a great time!

lashbear 02-21-2008 07:48 PM

Colour me Bitter.....

CoasterMatt 02-21-2008 08:33 PM

Mutaytor's playing in San Francisco- I might have to hitch a ride

I am indeed a Gemini....

lindyhop 02-21-2008 08:50 PM

I'm a maybe. I'm expecting a horrible week at work so I could use something fun to look forward to...but it depends on how I survive the week.

wolfy999 02-22-2008 09:44 AM

Have to wait and see, but I'll try!

SacTown Chronic 02-22-2008 10:27 AM

I'd love to but the Sacramento Zoo is having a Leap Day event featuring frogs. Frogs!

Have fun kids.

madmonkeygirl 02-22-2008 12:03 PM

Leap Day Swanking?

Depends on my work schedule but i think i'm out sorry. After hell week this week if i even have the day off or evening off i have so many things needed to be done before April. Maybe some other time.

Cadaverous Pallor 02-22-2008 01:48 PM

I'll leap in and say maybe.

I'd say we should have a humongous game of leapfrog about the hub, but that would most probably end in injury.

innerSpaceman 02-22-2008 04:33 PM

So?

The Hub is conveniently located near First Aid.

BarTopDancer 02-22-2008 04:55 PM

Can leaped on this reply before I looked. Can a mod put me as a maybe?

Morrigoon 02-22-2008 04:55 PM

I apologize in advance, but it looks like I'll have to slip away for half an hour just before 9pm. I'll be around for everything else before and after though.

Morrigoon 02-22-2008 05:03 PM

Yep :)

Yo, don't be bumping people. You might spill rum!

Morrigoon 02-25-2008 06:27 PM

So THAT's why all the rum is gone!

;)

Ken and I might be there. I take my desire to do things a day at a time right now.

I say go.
Bornieo and I will be there early and will be hanging out all day.
It will be fun. We'll play the walk the park and count the facelifts game.
:D

innerSpaceman 02-28-2008 07:42 AM

I'm gonna try to make it by 7:30. Save at least one Leap attraction for me, ok?

lindyhop 02-28-2008 09:13 PM

No leaping for me. I'm craving a quiet evening at home.

BarTopDancer 02-28-2008 09:33 PM

I have a game and have to be at LAX by 11. Depending on what time the game gets out I may be able to stop by for a lil bit.

katiesue 02-28-2008 10:23 PM

Forgot my mom was having surgery today and I have to spend 11 hours in the car getting there on Saturday. I'd much rather be at Disneyland. Oh well next time.

Gemini Cricket 02-28-2008 10:25 PM

Sending good vibes for your mom's surgery.
:)

katiesue 02-28-2008 10:28 PM

She's done and totally doing fine - thank you. Just will need some help next week til she's back to making everyone bonkers.

CoasterMatt 02-28-2008 10:34 PM

I'll be working, then trying to sleep.

innerSpaceman 02-29-2008 08:26 AM

Spend some time in DCA. I think Jumpin' Jellyfish is perhaps the most classically leaping attraction at the Resort.

Others might include California Screamin', Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Orange Stinger (s that part of DCA open? If so, get a last ride in before this goes away). Mullholland Madness might be too close to leaping for comfort. Um, I think that's it for DCA.

Over in Disneyland? Various Moutains. Um, King Arthur Caroussel, Peter Pan's Flight, Dumbo Flying Elephants, Alice in Wonderland, perhaps Roger Rabbit's CarToon Spin, Pirates of the Caribbean. Hmmm, Indiana Jones might be a stretch. If you're gonna consider strethes, you might even include The Haunted Mansion.

That's about all I can come up with. Am I missing any??

Ghoulish Delight 02-29-2008 08:37 AM

Pooh.

Snowflake 02-29-2008 08:49 AM

You left out the option for Bitter N. Californian, so I reverted to my previous BEC status on this one.

Have fun everyone!:D

BDBopper 02-29-2008 03:58 PM

Have fun gang! Hope you have a ton of fun! I hope someone will have a Dole Whip for me since I can't be there in person.

Morrigoon 02-29-2008 05:05 PM

Remember guys, please grab yourself some food before meet time!

Yeah, I'm afraid Pooh does make the list. If not for the so-called "bouncing" than for its ability to make you want to leap off a cliff ;)

innerSpaceman 02-29-2008 05:18 PM

Um, what time is "Meet" time?

Morrigoon 02-29-2008 05:33 PM

WooHoo. There's a chance I could actually make it by 7:30!

Morrigoon 02-29-2008 06:45 PM

I should make it by 7:30.... LoT time ;)

Huh?

Oh.

innerSpaceman 03-01-2008 01:43 AM

Well, we didn't do as many leap attractions as we'd have liked, but our very first leap was a grand leap.

Ah, the sounds of six people going "AAARHRHRHRHHHHAHAHHAAAAAHRRRH!!!!!!"

Such fun.

Such soaking damp moist wet fun.

Boy, I had a blast last night.
An incredible swanking at the park. The highlight was definitely our Splash Mountain voyage. Our log became water logged at the first drop and it just got wetter as the ride went on.
The best was the huge screamfest after the last drop. It was like riding Splash with 5 CoasterMatts. :D
I couldn't stop laughing. Seriously. My face and sides hurt after awhile.
And, might I just add that I left the ride completely dry. Everyone else? Not so much.
Here was the seating arrangement for our log:
iSm (drenched beyond belief), zapppop (super wet), Sorshah (wet), Morrigoon (west-ish), me (dry) and Bornieo (wet).
And wait til you see Morrigoon's picture of us at the drop. Priceless faces.
:)

I had a great leap day swanking.

AND

Bornieo suggested we go see the Aladdin show earlier that evening. So we went. Can I just say? The new (to me at least) Aladdin was adorable.
We sat in the mezzanine. I hadn't sat up there for awhile. I had forgotten about people's reaction to the flying carpet up there. The loud, collective gasp from kids and adults alike was enough to soften this jaded APer's heart. It was a Disney moment.
:)

Sohrshah 03-01-2008 10:58 AM

It was definitely a wet and wild time! We certainly found our collective laughing place! I laughed so hard I cried, and that is definitely the best leap I could have hoped for!

We hit Mr. Toad's wild ride for a quick dry off in hell, then soared with Dumbo, and spun like crazy on the tea-cups. Well, the girls spun, the boys sat bac and felt the wind blow through thier hair. I was almost damp by the time we plunged to the great barrier reef and then headed for home, hungry, tired, wet, and happy.

:D

Morrigoon 03-01-2008 01:54 PM

Sooo funny! iSm *literally* leapt when that water came whooshing over the side of the log. I think we all stood up briefly as the water hit the seats. Which, in retrospect was probably a mistake as it allowed the rest of the seat to get wet, which we then had to sit back down on. Doh! Total highlight of the evening.

Morrigoon 03-01-2008 05:03 PM

Here's that stuff I couldn't share last night due to lack of camera battery. Let's not spread the link too far, k? (Even though we were allowed to take pics, don't wanna push my luck)

innerSpaceman 03-01-2008 05:33 PM

Wow, thanks for the tour of the Dream Suite.

Much as I hate to have it reverted to private space, it would be awesome if one of us won the prize and could have a gathering one night of many friends, during park hours of course, to hang out in the space Walt meant to live in while at Disneyland, at least made a little closer to the space Walt might have lived in while at Disneyland ... had he lived.

Gn2Dlnd 03-01-2008 06:24 PM

The "if only Walt had lived, so he could have died in this space, space."

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 03-03-2008 02:10 PM

So, some LEAP day Swanking pics. I also added a few from the Universal Adventure from Saturday.

Came Out fuzzy - dang it!

Love all of the shots! Thank you, Morri, for the inside look at the Dream Suite. Wow.

Thanks, too, BFL for your shots. I love those!!!

Alright, what the heck are you up to, KB?

Sohrshah 03-03-2008 07:16 PM

I LOVE that Splash shot!

These will made great "before" pictures. That way, in 10 pounds I can suck it in and show off my smaller---double chin!

:D

innerSpaceman 03-03-2008 08:37 PM

I still hope Goon posts her official scanned version of the official shot.

I want to steal it for posterity .... to recall how wet my posterior got.
