Aussie Treat made healthy...
Check out this fantastic recipe for Aussie Meat Pies - These taste just like the ones I grew up with at school (yes, they were good in the olden days....)
Serve with chips, er, chunky fries, a beer and a slice of Pavlova. (or go really trad and serve it with Mushy peas on top as served at the infamous "Harry's Cafe de Wheels") |
Why Lashbear Lovett, cool link!
:D It looks yummers. :) |
Business never better using only pussycats and toast.....

I had a meat pie in London. It made a good breakfast. Protein in the morning... I thought I wasn't going to like it and I did.
|
It looked edible until I got to the Vegemite. I lost my Vegemite virginity last week. Tequila shots now have company as something I'll never put in my mouth again.
|
That sounds delish. (I likes the Vegemite!) Now, i'm incredibly lazy about looking things up, and this recipe calls for 500 grams of meat. What's that in American pounds? (The rest of the recipe is handily in teaspoons and tablespoons and so on.)
|
I wonder if it would work with chopped grilled portabellos. I have a jar of Vegemite.
|
If you ship us some vegemite we'll try it out
|
I've still got some individual packets of vegemite, from another Aussie visitor.

And my parents thought selling pot would never get me anywhere in life..... :D As long as you're not "popping pussies into pies" I'm on board! |
Ah, thanks, RStar

Ahh meat pies! That's one of the things I truly miss about Australia, as well as sausage rolls and lambekins(sp). It looks like I'll have to try my hand at making them myself, thanks!
There was a place in Bend, run by Australians, that was supposed to have great stuff. They closed down before I could make it up there. |
