The Official PNW invasion of the DLR thread

Seeings how Prudence and I, and mayhap others? are planning to invade your hallowed environs, I thought perhaps a PNW thread was in order. Mostly, because I had a real crappy week and need something to keep me focused on the important thing upcoming in my life: our impending SoCal visit in two weeks. Pru has a thread going, but for the ferretless of the LoT's sake I thought I'd merge it into a sort of general PNW thingy. And no, we're not bringing coffee. You all have had years to catch up- if you still cannot produce a coffee stand every city block, that's your problem.

Soooo....We'll be in LA on 4/1, then DLR as of 4/2 thru 4/7. We'd dearly love to meet up with as many as you Swanky peoples as possible, as it's been a terribly long and Swankless winter and we need recharging desperately. Pru will be along shortly after our departure, so anyone who needs to sue someone or has had problems washing their ferret might want to sign up for that event. (Might I say how terribly disappointed I am to not be there at the same time, Pru?). Any other potential PNW visitors- please feel free to advertise your appearance on this (or any other) thread.

Gemini Cricket 03-16-2008 07:48 AM

Yay!
I can't wait to see all y'all!
:)

innerSpaceman 03-16-2008 08:00 AM

You mean we have to come to Disneyland twice??

Mmm, I dunno.

:p

MickeyLumbo 03-16-2008 09:32 AM

i start an exciting and new assignment on monday and don't yet know my schedule for the times your here... i should know by next sunday.

but then again, assignments change around here faster than a spinning tea cup.

funny thing about my schedule... a new gal is in the office doing scheduling and making many errors. i have at least two a week. just checked next week's schedule and there is an ADO (authorized day off) for friday ( which I didn't request and needs to be requested in writing).

but, a paid day off on a friday would be cool! hmmm, where ever could i go? Disneyland?

my point is: i never have a clue, but, i sure wanna see ya during your visit. and just knowing that experiencing any unexplained farts on iasw is outta the question makes it even more tempting.

Haven't you been paying attention? You go to DL when WB is there, avoid it like the plague when I'm there. Do I need to run another alert? Sheesh! I mean, it takes a lot of planning for us PNW types to plan staggered visits like this.

belleh5 03-16-2008 01:08 PM

Wendybeth, I always miss you!! I will be there the 11th- 13th for MA.

CoasterMatt 03-16-2008 01:18 PM

I'll be avoiding the entire area for all of the PNW visits :p

wendybeth 03-16-2008 02:18 PM

katiesue 03-16-2008 04:35 PM

Hopefully I can get Maddy there to meet Tori this time.

wendybeth 03-16-2008 06:50 PM

That would be very fun, Katiesue!

lashbear 03-16-2008 07:00 PM

Tell Tori to ride TOT for me again, pelase !

Oh, and have a margarita for me and a girthy whatever-that-was that Chris had last time.

wendybeth 03-16-2008 07:50 PM

That was one of those double-gold numbers at Tortilla Jo's, right?

Okay, if I have to.;)

Tori says she will gladly ride ToT for you- it's her favorite ride.:D

Not Afraid 03-16-2008 08:10 PM

So, maybe I should see if I can take a day off of work. What day should I do that? (If I don't get at it now, I'll be scheduled with tons of stuff. I already have overnights scheduled.)

wendybeth 03-17-2008 12:02 AM

We're there (Anaheim) from the 2nd (Wednesday) thru Monday morning, so anytime that works for you is great with us. We were thinking about hitting Newport or Huntington beach one of the weekend days, but we're flexible. (If you want to do a beach/shopping/bumming around day, that is great as well!). We'd like to do a nice dinner somewhere, like Napa Rose or Granvilles (or whatever it is called now), so maybe a dinner meet up would work.

I cannot wait. It frikking snowed again last night!

libraryvixen 03-17-2008 08:15 AM

WB, have a fantastic time!! :) Have a mint julep for me!

Well, a week from now I will be frantically packing and doing straight shots- sort of a tradition, and I'm just a traditional kind of gal.:D

Do we need to try and set up some sort of happening, or shall we wing it? I'm good with whatever. I am looking forward to seeing you all, though, so if you can manage a meet up, just let me know! PM if you need any info.

I just have to live through this next week at work......

BarTopDancer 03-25-2008 09:17 AM

I need to renew my AP :(

Prudence 03-25-2008 09:50 AM

I might have access to 1 day of a socal 2-day hopper after 4/12.

Not Afraid 03-25-2008 09:59 AM

If there are plans for a get together of any sort, I'll need to know soon. I have work scheduled and Thurston to plan for.

innerSpaceman 03-25-2008 10:38 AM

And I'm only available weekends, so put me down for whatever's going on - on the weekend.

The only way I like hockey is live. To me, it is boring on TV.

BTW: I still owe you for the ticket.

wendybeth 03-30-2008 10:58 PM

Okay- probably won't be on much tomorrow, as I have a blitzkrieg day planned and then we have to get up at an ungodly hour the next morning to fly to LA, so I thought I'd post a final warning for ya'll. Anyone who wants to meet up at either USH or the DLR , just PM me or give me a call if you already have our number. I believe a cocktail hour might be doable in our suite- we plan to hit the liquor store and fuzzy water suppliers on our way to Anaheim. :D

Very much looking forward to seeing you all- I've missed you!

(My nephew is staying over tonight, as his mom is swamped at work getting ready to leave for vacation.....so we had to watch Borat. I'm such a bad auntie. Nick pretty much laughed his ass off the entire movie.)

Not Afraid 03-30-2008 11:01 PM

I can't wait to see you WenchyBeth! I don't know when it will happen, but dammit, it will happen!

wendybeth 03-30-2008 11:03 PM

Yeah, whatever.

I just want to meet Thurston.;)

(You will smuggle his cuddly butt into the hotel, won't you?)

Bring Charles as well- I may need a kitty fix.

Not Afraid 03-30-2008 11:52 PM

What beach are you going to? What day? Why don't you come to MY beach?

wendybeth 03-30-2008 11:54 PM

Sometime on the weekend, I thinks. And, okay- I don't think we're exactly fixated on any particular beach, so your beach would probably be just fine.:)

Not Afraid 03-31-2008 12:00 AM

Well, Long Beach isn't always the best as far a beaches go. There aren't any waves because of the breakwater. But, there ARE cats and dogs and (now) fish here. We'll figure it out.

Or, I'll just march Thurston into the GC in his stroller.

wendybeth 03-31-2008 12:16 AM

Tori votes for the stroller and the beach.

It'll be great to see you! (I hope Gus Gus can be there as well!)

Okay- now I better get my off my ass and start packing. Oh, Tori was wondering how all the dragons were doing?

They seem to think that feeding time (when I am reaching into their cages to remove/replace dishes) is breeding time.

If I can logistically, I will see if I can bring Draco down for a visit. He is fat and healthy.

Thurston and Draco can be smuggled in to the GC together.

We had a lot of fun as well, Matt- ty!!!!!!!

The Grand is really pretty great so far- no wait to check in (3:00), the services are prompt, and while it's pricey in some areas overall it's really a good value. Our room is literally over the monorail, but you can't hear it at all with the slider closed. It's a great spot- we love it. The meet the first night was great- many thanks to all who attended, and it was really fun smuggling the animals in.:D

Yesterday we had fun hanging out with Brad, even though the bastard was the only one who didn't get drenched on Splash. (He pretty much gloated about it).;) We still love him, but I do believe the kids are plotting revenge). Ate at the Jazz Kitchen, and it was really good. The Park was practically deserted, so we got on every ride we wanted to without waiting.

Gotta run for now, but will post more later. Thanks to everyone for making this such a fun trip!

Gemini Cricket 04-04-2008 12:15 PM

Here's how we all were after the ride on Splash:

:( <--- wendybeth's hubby - soaked to the bone
 <--- wendybeth - drenched pants
:p <--- wendybeth's sister who had a wet butt
:) <--- Tori - barely wet
:) <--- wendybeth's nephew - mildly wet
:D <--- me - dry

It sucks that I always miss Wendybeth & SuperK everytime I go to DL, by a few days.

Hopefully I will be able to see a few people next weekend.

innerSpaceman 04-07-2008 10:44 AM

 So will Pru be here for mouseadventure day?

I get the impression she's feeling left out because a Lot of LoT showed up for WB and SK!/L-A. But we've got swanie and belleh5 and I believe Pru here on mouseadventure day, which is another guaranteed Lot of Lot folk for the after-party!

Rather than be sad you missed a big out-of-towner meet by a single week .... be glad the timing of your visit works out to bring the LoT of us to the Park the very next weekend ... when you'll be here!!

katiesue 04-07-2008 10:57 AM

Should we make post MA ressies somewhere?? I'm happy to do it.

LSPoorEeyorick 04-07-2008 11:05 AM

Not comin' on MouseAdventure day, but other than a meeting already scheduled, I think we're planning to be in the area to see Pru, among others, on Saturday.

katiesue 04-07-2008 12:03 PM

The Swanies and I will be there most of the day Saturday too.

Prudence 04-07-2008 12:18 PM

The Prudence DL Visit Alert System has already been activated. Those of you without ferret duty next weekend who proceed to the park in contravention of that warning do so at your own risk.

Fortunately for several prior posters, Prudence has other plans on Saturday and will likely not notice any stray LoTers who wander into the park.

LSPoorEeyorick 04-07-2008 01:19 PM

I think you're right - because I've made myself available that weekend and said as much several times but to no avail, alas.

innerSpaceman 04-07-2008 01:22 PM

Starting to think martyrdom is sought.

LSPoorEeyorick 04-07-2008 01:35 PM

No, no. She really does have a prior engagement the day I'm available. I'm trying to look into Sunday for post-MA. But, oh well. I'll see what I can do to arrange things so I'm writing most of Saturday.

Prudence 04-07-2008 01:52 PM

Geeze Louise - I'm hanging out with my best law school bud on Saturday because it's the day she was available, I haven't seen her since I dropped her off at the airport in December, and she's never been to the park (or at least it's been long enough that she doesn't remember anything). So we're going to see as much of both parks as we can, on a crowded April weekend, and then we have dinner ressies.

Rather than be sad you missed a big out-of-towner meet by a single week .... be glad the timing of your visit works out to bring the LoT of us to the Park the very next weekend ... when you'll be here!!

At the very least, mr. swanie and I will be in town Saturday - Monday morning. Our schedule is a little up in the air since we're getting our puppy on Monday. Instead of flying out, we're having to drive so we can pick her up in San Diego. I'll spare you all of the confusing details, but best case scenario has us arriving late Friday night...worst case by 11:30 or so on Saturday. Katiesue will be joining us Saturday morning until Monday morning. The only commitment we have besides MA is dinner with my Dad at Storytellers at 5:15 on Saturday.

We were able to score the cool private dining room at Tortilla Jo's in January when Brigitte, katiesue, and my family were all in town. Would anyone be interested if we tried to get it for after the game?

LSPoorEeyorick 04-07-2008 05:09 PM

I don't do MA, but last time around I was involved in a swell pre-MA lounging that I'd like to make a habit. So. For those of you who are available, please join me outside the steakhouse on Saturday night (9ish?) for...

LSPE's Semi-Annual Chance-to-hang-out-with-friends-MA-weekend-without-having-to-do-MA Lounge!

With potential special guest... Prudence! If she's able to come. But she might not be there. So, with potential special guest... you!

innerSpaceman 04-07-2008 05:12 PM

Yes, if you can snag the private dining room.

Otherwise, we often go there afterwards and sit outside, sequestered around the back corner.

Of course, I perpetually vote for Jazz Kitchen, but that might be a pain depending on how large a group we have.

And now I'm confused. Is the pre-MA lounge swanking on Saturday night??

LSPoorEeyorick 04-07-2008 05:15 PM

Sorry! Yes - the pre-MA lounge is for Saturday night. It's a revisiting of the prior MA's lovely group boozehounding on Saturday night.

(note: no, I'm not coming after MA. You guys will be all sweaty and will only want to talk about MA!)

innerSpaceman 04-07-2008 05:19 PM

Um, I doubt I can make it ... but just in case, where will the Pre-MA Saturday Night Lounge Swanking be held, and at what time?

LSPoorEeyorick 04-07-2008 05:23 PM

As per my post above (poke, poke) it'll be outside the DL Hotel Steakhouse (it's changed names and I don't keep track) around 9ish.

Sorry to interrupt the MA swanking thingy....but here's some pics from yesterday at the Noon Hub meet...can't believe I didn't get any of Wendybeth or her family at all!

Such a beautiful cat...got all the kids attention along with NA and me!

I'm gonna try and make it, too!

CoasterMatt 04-07-2008 08:20 PM

Just don't move the sign ;)

katiesue 04-07-2008 08:42 PM

Ok post MA reservations - I'm counting 18 - who am I missing?

Team Kiss Ass - 3
Haunts - 2
Nemo (pru, na, etc) - 4
Denton Affair - 3
Zapp's team - 3
Drince & sis - 2
Team Howl - 1

Gemini Cricket 04-07-2008 08:45 PM

I may be going. We'll see how the Thurston sitting goes.
:)

innerSpaceman 04-07-2008 08:47 PM

Oh, and when the Swank Bar was our last hope for a place that serves alcohol at the resort a half hour before Park closing last SATURDAY NIGHT ... only to have those hopes dashed - - I moved the Goofy's Kitchen sign over to the Swank Bar for old time's sake.

Zapp's team aka SuperStar Losers -2, Are team leader usually leaves after the MA awards.

iSm- Where is the Swank Bar? I'm getting thristy?!

innerSpaceman 04-07-2008 08:49 PM

Ditto our sometimes team leader (we trade off), so the post-awards (usually embarrassed at that point) Denton Affair are only 2.

katiesue 04-07-2008 08:49 PM

This would be after the game but before the awards - say 3:45-5:45ish. Awards start at 6 at the Pier.

katiesue 04-07-2008 08:49 PM

ok so we're at 15ish then - I think.

If you come to the park in the evening and we get home at a decent hour, Mr. T will be fine. I don't want you to miss the frivolities and, if I need to, I can go home.

We're trying for Tortilla Joes - I think it was decided they would be faster.

That's me as well- I hate pictures and am usually really good at avoiding being in a shot, unless I'm pasted. (Deebs caught me mid-Margarita....;) ). I did get some good shots of very nearly everyone; I think the only person I missed was TheaterTech, and I could kick myself. The kids (including myself and my sis) were tres impressed with his look these days- I didn't recognize him from before as his hair has changed radically. I have to say- the LoT's got it going in the hair department- everyone's hair looked fabulous! :snap:

We had a ****load of fun, and it was great to be able to spend some quality time with such quality people. I'll post the pics and such tomorrow- we had to get up hideously early to make our flight today, and I am now back to freezing my ass off. (Did I mention it started snowing when we landed? Not much, just enough to piss me off). Thanks again to all who were able to come and play, and I missed all who couldn't!

(Oh, and the rumors are true: Thurston is the Cutest Dog in all the Land. Draco is pretty handsome as well, and was a very good boy- didn't bark once!)

Gemini Cricket 04-07-2008 10:13 PM

I didn't say goodbye on purpose, wenchybeth. I think I would have been too blue afterwards. I hope y'all understand my cowardly ways.

I do- I hate saying goodbye as well. Hey, when did you learn to speak Texan?;)

Ghoulish Delight 04-08-2008 08:47 AM

I wish we'd have been able to visit more with the out-of-towners. We just barely managed to crawl out of the bedroom we've been cooped up in due to floor repairs, it's amazing how exhausting living in bed for days at a time can be. The large, jubilant crowd that we joined up with at the Cove meant socializing with more than our immediate table neighbors was out of the question. We split off, expecting to catch up with you later, but ran out of steam. So we borrowed some of the train's and headed out.

But we had fun while it lasted, and it sounds like everyone else did too.

I apologize again to Zapppop for the rude awakening. I'm usually not that much of a jerk, but for some reason I couldn't resist.

wendybeth 04-08-2008 09:10 AM

We wound up in DL, where it was just as much a cluster**** as DCA. So, we hit the hotel room, had a drink, then Zapp headed off to find Keith and Co while we let the kids swim for a bit. I think everyone kind of ran outta steam, GD- I know we did.

You were pretty sleepy. I woke you up from your nap on the Tomorrowland planter with a flick to the nose.

Yeah, GD was kind of violent that day.
A flick to zappp's nose, a kick to CP's pants...
It was like watching a John Woo film!

:D

I'm sorry I missed all the fun... ::sigh:: stupid school and work and blerg.

katiesue 04-08-2008 05:45 PM

We've got reservations at Tortilla Jo's for post MA. See you all there.

wolfy999 04-08-2008 08:23 PM

Did you count me in? If so, what time are the reservations made for?

katiesue 04-09-2008 08:56 AM

Yes you're counted - reservations are for 3:45 (although we may be a little bit later).

innerSpaceman 04-09-2008 11:09 AM

Um, what planet? The awards were not done till 6pm if I recall. Or is that my Alzheimers kicking in???

katiesue 04-09-2008 11:34 AM

Game is over at 3:30 - awards don't start until 6 PM. So this would be post-game/pre-awards.

I thought that the "the post" MA dinner was after the awards.

Everytime I play MA, we get together for Dinner after all the MA stuff.

BarTopDancer 04-09-2008 03:27 PM

I seem to recall a post MA, pre-awards shindig in the past. Time to relax and refuel between the event and awards.

Then there always seemed to be another contingent of hanging out and lazing around after the awards.

But what do I know. I'm not even playing this year.

Not Afraid 04-09-2008 05:16 PM

Last time, we spent pre-awards, post game at TJ's bar getting drunk. I don't think we did dinner afterwards.

Snowflake 04-09-2008 05:35 PM

Now I'm confused. PNW thread is now the MA thread. The Mousepod Movie thread is now the seder and boobs thread.

Not Afraid 04-09-2008 05:53 PM

Seder and Boobs Thread.

Only on LoT.

innerSpaceman 04-09-2008 06:40 PM

Hahaha,

ok, I guess if they are doing that thing again where they have a dinner for payees in the ballroom and the awards are even later than usual. Um, but I didn't hear anything about that this time. Was it a bust?

If they aren't doing that, there's no time for dinner between game and awards. Heheh, not for a party of 15.

Just my opinion.

There's good enough time to get drunk, though. I like the bar at TJ's. ;)

katiesue 04-09-2008 07:51 PM

I told them we'd just be ordering drinks and some appetiesers. We have about two hours. I figured having a reservation would cut down on some time in waiting for a table etc.

wolfy999 04-09-2008 08:05 PM

Their guacamole is fantastic! That and a Margarita on the rocks, couldn't be more perfect!
