Kitten looking for a good home...
So a week and a half ago Sunday, my sisters found a cute little kitten. Starving down to her bones, but friendly, she came home with them. Over the last week, she's eaten well, been to the vet, and is starting to look good.
Here's the part I mentioned in the title: my mom really can't afford to take care of another cat. She has two already, and it's been a financially tough situation with one of the cats ending up with a broken leg. So here's little miss kitty. She's not fixed, and while she's 4-5 months old, she's pretty small. The vet says she'll always be really small. She's cute as a button and has a good temper. Loves to be cuddled. While I know I can bring her to a no-kill shelter that can find her a home, I wanted to bring it up on these boards to any Southern California local who might have a place in his or her home for a new kitten. My camera's charger is missing, so I don't have any pictures, but I bet I could find a way to get a pic taken. But trust me when I say she's a doll. Tabby with little orange spots, and her front right paw looks like she stepped in bleach.. SO CUTE! It pains me to think about letting this cat go, so I want to be sure she'll be going to a great home. She's so cute. If I could take in a cat, I would do it in a heartbeat (and part of me is strategizing a way to make it happen. Tramspotter? Why won't you get allergy shots?!?!?)... So, if anyone here would like a cute little kitty, or knows anyone who would want a kitty, please feel free to PM me, or post here. I'll be checking in on this. Time is a little short, and mom's ready to bring the kitten to a shelter... /le sigh/ |
:( I want Kitty! stupid allergies :(
|
I want kitty, too! Stupid landlords...
|
I want kitty too. Damn allergic husband who hates cats.
|
Soemthing tells me €uro is trying desperately to keep NA away from this thread.
I would love to take the baby, but I live kind of far away- she sounds like Sam, who is not so little anymore, but still cuter than hell! |
Oh, believe me, I've known about kitty since they found her!
I'm being good. I've told myself that that only way I'll add a 6th is if it's a Maine Coon or an Abyssinian (or......). Chris claims we're at the legal limit in LB. I claim they are indoor and no one knows. But, whatever the reasons, we're done for RIGHT now. |
As much as I want Kitty and have debated about taking her since the girlies found her I can't do it due to allergies and the fact that I'll be moving in August and don't want to have to deal with the limited options + increased rent of having a kitty.

sounds adorable, now I just have to keep my wife away from this thread.....

I would love to take the lil' kitty. I need something that will greet me when I come home. All I have right now are those little fruit flies that appear when you leave out bananas. Sure they're cute, but they have sort such short lifespans. And God forbid if I forget to bring home some more bananas ...
|
Yes, and at somewhere around 11pm the night before MA (after after getting up at 2:10 am) he was face down in his closet looking for the key.
This action reappeared the next morning when we were trying to get out the door. FREAK |

I want a kitten so badly....but I'm kind of far away. Plus I've already spent over $700 on vet bills this month alone. And Sasha would probably kill it. She only tolerates Boris because he's the dominant cat in the household. Oh, but I so want another kitten...
|
I would love to have a kitten. I endured years of painful allergy shots, and it was worth every needle! Plus, my darling baby Labrador, Little Bo Peep, loves cats. She was raised with them & when I temporarily moved back home with my Mom, she acclamated right away to my Mom's cats! :)
However, I live in coyote territory, which is why I would never, EVER have a cat. I would love one, but I could never do that. I just found blood on my porch this morning. I have a gate & tall, compound-like walls, so I know it's not a coyote. The squirrells are attacking each other again. :( Yes, BarTopDancer!! I know I am moving! Sadly, right into new coyote country. :( |
Kitties don't go outside.
Sorry, but I have pretty strong feelings about this. All 5 of mine live in the house 100% of the time. They never get hut by cars, get in fights with cats, racoons or oppossoms, and they don't pick up diseases. When Jack decided to live with us, I made it clear that he was going to be an inside boy from now on,. He nodded hug fuzzy orange head and loves it. |

Our kitties are indoor kitties- the last cat I let go outdoors was killed by a raccoon, and so I have kept all my kitties inside since then. (That was twenty years ago). We have coyotes, wildcats and hawks that love to go after kitties, so it's just too dangerous.
|
Now I'm all heartbroken over the squirrels. And kitty.
I leave the squirrels lots of fresh peanuts, lined on my wall tops. They are so cute! They hop from nut to nut, eating happily with their little paws. :) This is so typical me. I'm surprised I'm still alive. I try to befriend and snuggle everything in nature, even if it hisses & snarls at me. LOVE ME, dammit! :D :p I once saw a skinny coyote wandering around the lower hillside of my neighborhood. I felt so awful. I was on my way home from having dinner at my Grandpa & Grandma's house, and I had yummy leftover ham inside of my car. I almost pulled over to share with the coyote until I realized that the neighbors wouldn't appreciate that too much when the coyote's whole pack eventually moved into the land of ham, looking for seconds. :( Yes, I'm clueless. I love animals & I just want them all to be fat & happy. I'm so sorry for the derail! I'm just swooning over all things furry & needed to share! Oh, edited to add- I would always fear kitty getting out, BarTopDancer! That is how my neighbors lost their darling kitty. It's also how my roommate's parents lost their kitten. :( Don't even get me started on the bobcat that prowls up here. Nature is so cruel. :( I should "accidentally" show my Mom this thread.. |

Ya, I heard he married a hot redhead ;) Quote:

my wife and I agree CP, we love cats, but we love our furniture too, hence why both our kitties are declawed. One was done 8 years ago when he belonged to Erins parents, the other was done a few months ago, when he clawed up our brand new couch the first night we got it.....
|
We got this scratching box at Trader Joes and suddenly that is the big clawing attraction. I wish we had discovered it sooner.
Oh, and cats can be leash trained. I hate fleas, which is another reason our cats don't go outside. I think I like cats just a tiny bit better than dogs is because they take less care.. Our cats stay home for 2-3 days by themselves. Can'd do that with dogs. We like the mobility. |

I forgot about that Bobcat! How could I?!?! He, too, roams the neighborhood! Plus, I lease the hot redhead's house, and who could forget the entertaining plumbing fiasco when I moved in??? The hirsute Bobcat's I'm-sure-that-it's-his mystery curlies clogging my shower drain, thus resulting in a mass snaking. Where is the gag me yack smiley when you need it?? :D ;) :p |
Does Kitty have a home yet?
I wish I could take her, but she would be The Third Cat, and as a single woman, lets face it, I'm only one cat away from being that crazy lady who lives all alone with all the cats. Plus my apartment has a two cat maximum. Plus my two cats are quite content with just the two of them. |
No, no home yet for the kitty -- I'm mentioning it all around the office today, but no takers....
You knooooowwww you want a cuuuuute wittle kitty! |

Update:
Ericas mom and her sisters are going to be keeping Kitty. |
Thanks BTD - I didn't even know what to say earlier...
Mom was leaning toward it, but the event that knocked her toward the side of keeping the kitten is that we just lost Tiger because he got hit by a car. I'm really so sad today. I found out this morning. And I really don't know what to say, except that those of you who have pets can understand. Well, anyone who's ever lost someone can understand. I'm going to my mom's today to console my little sisters. I just can't imagine not seeing his fluffy face peering out at me as I come upstairs to the condo... :( -Erica |

{{{{HUGS}}}}} I'm so sorry to hear that Erica.... :( :( :( My heart goes out to you, & your mom, & your little sisters. |
I'm so sorry you lost Tiger. Poor baby! But, the good thing is kitty (Tink?) has a good home now and a friend. Poor, poor Tiger.
|
Erica, I'm so sorry about Tiger!!!!:(
|
:( So, so sorry. Strange coincidences abound.
|
Thanks, I just got back from my sisters, and they're pretty torn up about it.
Lots of hugs, and tears. We talked about the good times, though, and got to cry and laugh. Tiger was so peculiar. He would flick his fluffy tail when he was done having his way with you. ;) Hehe... The way he would stretch himself so he was flat and sleek against the ground. All these things we'll miss so much. I feel a lot better after seeing them, and my sisters, I think, feel better too. |
sorry to hear about your loss Erica :( glad you got to keep the kitten though!
