flippyshark's first surgery tomorrow

Hi all. Tomorrow (Wednesday) I will be undergoing hernia surgery. it's the very first time in my heretofore uber-lucky life that I will be going under the knife. It's a pretty routine procedure, and I'm looking forward to having it done. My inner 12 year old is a little freaked at the thought of being anaesthetized, just because I've never done it before, and I tend to resist giving my consciousness up to sleep let alone to some stranger in a white mask. Still, I expect everything will go smoothly, and then I will be convalescing for a few days here at home. Check in with y'all when I get back.

NickO'Time 05-06-2008 07:58 PM

Too a speedy recovery Flippy.:)

I have had three repaired at once.

innerSpaceman 05-06-2008 08:08 PM

Thanks for alerting us. I'll have my goodvibeathon turned on to 11.

BarTopDancer 05-06-2008 08:10 PM

Be sure to type while on painkillers!

It entertains the rest of us.

Chernabog 05-06-2008 08:11 PM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!!! And being anesthetized is sort of fun, you count backwards from 100 and by the time you get to 99, it's like HOLY COW I'M SLEE... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz oh, is it over?

BDBopper 05-06-2008 08:15 PM

Good thoughts and good vibrations are being sent your way Flippyshark. You will be in my prayers tonight and tomorrow. I definitely know how you feel the night before a procedure is done. I've been under the knife over 15 times in my 25 years on this Earth. Think positive. Watch a good funny comedy or cartoon before bed. Know that we are all here for ya and are all behind ya 150% :D

Deebs 05-06-2008 08:40 PM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery from your surgery, flippy.

Cadaverous Pallor 05-06-2008 08:47 PM

Thinking of you.

lashbear 05-06-2008 08:52 PM

Best part about anesthesia for me is asking Nurse Gladys* "When am I going in?" and being told, "it's already been done" !
(*True story, only the names have been changed to protect the nurse)

We'll be thinking of you on Thursday (which is your Wednesday).

Hugs !!!

...PS: Watch what they remove, otherwise we'll have to call you "Darla". ;)

mousepod 05-06-2008 09:17 PM

I'm sure it'll be a breeze and a snap - but I'll be really disappointed if you don't play it up... THEATER!!!

We're thinking of you...

scaeagles 05-06-2008 09:28 PM

The anesthesia is the easy part! Waking up is what sucks.

You'll be absolutely fine. And don't type while on drugs. Trust me.

Snowflake 05-06-2008 09:53 PM

speedy indeedy recovery for you Flippyshark. Hope there will be hot steamy and crispy corn dogs awaiting you.

alphabassettgrrl 05-06-2008 10:12 PM

May your surgery go perfectly and your recovery be smooth. **hugs**

Boss Radio 05-06-2008 10:43 PM

Flippy,

I just had mine in March. Dose up on the pills, keep iced and don't use the "Buy it Now" feature on eBay while you're doped up.

I did, and the damndest things started showing up in the mail...

Good luck.

Not Afraid 05-06-2008 11:36 PM

Chris needs to have this done at some point. It should be fairly easy and you should recover quickly. But, PLEASE type on pain killers, I need some competition.

Tom 05-06-2008 11:36 PM

Here's hoping for an uneventful procedure and a quick recovery.

wendybeth 05-06-2008 11:59 PM

We need to compile a 'Posting While Stoned' greatest hits thread- with all the surgeries we seem to have around here, it might rival the 'Sooo....' thread.:D

Feel better, Flippy!

Disneyphile 05-07-2008 12:11 AM

I've brought the ham!

Gn2Dlnd 05-07-2008 01:16 AM

It's a breeze! I've had two of 'em. Unfortunately, the hernia just moved up the muscle wall and popped out again. So, until I lose a few pounds, get health insurance, and can take off from my business for at least a week, it will make about 23 years I've been going around with a hernia.

Left inguinal, if you're curious.

Morrigoon 05-07-2008 01:26 AM

Good luck! Yeah, don't order shyt while on meds. My mom went a little nuts on the home shopping channel while recovering from back surgery. While she was wildly entertained by the stuff that started showing up, she admits it's not exactly stuff she'd have bought sober.

Stan4dSteph 05-07-2008 01:35 AM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery! :)

Moonliner 05-07-2008 03:57 AM

Break a leg!

Strangler Lewis 05-07-2008 05:17 AM

What, are hernias now like tattoos? All the cool people get them?

Mom!

Anyway, good luck, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Nephythys 05-07-2008 05:19 AM

Wishing you well :)

DreadPirateRoberts 05-07-2008 07:41 AM

Hope all goes well.

LSPoorEeyorick 05-07-2008 07:48 AM

Sending you good, good, good, good vibrations.

Ghoulish Delight 05-07-2008 07:49 AM

Hope all goes well, and enjoy that morphine drip while you can!

blueerica 05-07-2008 08:10 AM

Best of luck today... and yes, type while doped up!

Snowflake 05-07-2008 08:50 AM

Sending healing vibes to Flippyshark this morning.

Hope you are recovering nicely, and as GD said, enjoying the pain meds hwile you are able.

Gemini Cricket 05-07-2008 09:15 AM

No worries!

cirquelover 05-07-2008 01:19 PM

I hope everything went well and you are feeling no pain right about now. Here's to a speedy recovery:cheers:

flippyshark 05-08-2008 04:04 AM

Thanks everyone for the long distance hugs and good wishes. I am now convalescing, with the hel[p of my two fuzzkins. ( Can you train a cat to bring you soup?) I am told that today wil be my toughest day, aches and pain-wise. I have Vicodin, which is nowhere even close to the delightful substances they dripped into my system yesterday. I want more of that!

I hope this isn't too coherent for you all. It's an abtastic wham to the gearbox. Seven is less than the pied piper on his street machine, are you digging? Power to the puppies.

blueerica 05-08-2008 05:24 AM

I dig.

Power to the puppies!

€uroMeinke 05-08-2008 06:26 AM

Right on Bro!

Boss Radio 05-08-2008 01:11 PM

Up the dose.

Strangler Lewis 05-08-2008 04:26 PM

When the person from Porlock knocks, don't answer.
