June Foray in Pirates of the Caribbean (the ride, not movie)

Am I the only one who did not know that the awesomly talented June Foray was the voice of Mrs. Carlos ("Carlos, don't be cheeekin") on the PotC ride?

innerSpaceman 05-13-2008 07:12 PM

Hahahaha, never knew that. Tis TeH AweSoME.

DreadPirateRoberts 05-13-2008 08:13 PM

I had no idea. I liked this quote:

Quote:

Renowned animator/director Chuck Jones is reported to have said, "June Foray is not the female Mel Blanc, Mel Blanc was the male June Foray

91 and still working! What a gal!

I once got to see her read w/Bill Scott doing Bullwinkle live - that was a treat. She made a great Femme Fatale

Yeah I knew that, and her original scream has been excised from the ride :(

Tref 05-13-2008 10:25 PM

Well, I'll be ... I did not know that. Yet, now that I know, it seems so obvious, almost like I did all ready know that, but I just did not want to tell any of you.

CoasterMatt 05-13-2008 10:57 PM

The only reason I knew, was that when Islands of Adventure was built, she recorded some pieces for that, and in an interview she said "This isn't the first thing I've done for a theme park"- then proceeded to do the whole "Don't be cheeken! Do not tell heem! No no no!" SCREAM!!!

For a female you do that quite well! You sound just like him! ;)

I didn't know that either, and it's one of my fave lines from the ride!

It is amazing the talent that can be found in Disney, isn't it?

When you say 'excised from the ride' - do you know it was once featured in the attraction and at some point removed, or was it simply excised from her performance and left on the cutting room floor?

Snowflake 05-14-2008 08:06 AM

I did not know that, not did I know she was Witch Hazel in the WB cartoons!

What a great talent!

The scream, when Mrs. Carlos slams the shutters closed, hasn't been audible since the movie-novelization of the ride. Nor do the flowerpots crack in half anymore.

It's more relevant now.

I always thought that was a cat that got shot just as she closed the sudders, not her screaming. Color me surprised.
