What's for lunch?

Since BE mentioned the wasabi snackies, I was craving Japanese. Spicy tuna roll with LoTs of wasabi is today's choice. It's a good one!

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 05-14-2008 12:41 PM

Meatball sub. Yum.

Gemini Cricket 05-14-2008 12:41 PM

Domino's Pizza from what I hear. The company is buying us lunch today in honor of "Spring Cleaning Day".
:)

Moonliner 05-14-2008 12:47 PM

Ham-Cheese-Bread and Fritos in honor of the Man of La Muncha

LSPoorEeyorick 05-14-2008 12:57 PM

I don't exactly have a lunch. I spread out small amounts of food across a day. It's like one ongoing meal (but I end up feeling more comfortable, never overfull but never overhungry - and there are fewer total calories.)

This week, it's...

9AM - fat-free greek yogurt, 10 blackberries, 1/4 cup lowfat granola
11:30 AM - low-cal whole grain bread, 3 oz salmon, 1 oz lowfat goat cheese, basil
2:00 PM - 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese with tomatoes and cilantro, 3 small carrots and teaspoon of peanut butter
4:00 PM - cup of white tea, 1 madeleine
5:30 PM - 12 almonds, 10 grapes, 5 unsweetened ginger chips
7ish - 2 servings of vegetables (I'm hoping tonight will be butternut squash "fries"), 1 serving of protein

Comes out to be about 1300/day (I lean toward 1400 if I'm swimming that day.)

Morrigoon 05-14-2008 01:13 PM

No idea, but I'm very hungry. Probably pizza leftovers.

blueerica 05-14-2008 01:18 PM

Lean Cuisine Mushroom Pizza.

It was good.

blueerica 05-14-2008 01:42 PM

Thanks for mentioning wasabi snacks.... Now I had to go and open it again. Time to go hide it.

Ghoulish Delight 05-14-2008 01:48 PM

Tofu rice bowl from the Ralph's freezer case. Good stuff, nice and garlicky.

You could be having your own Spam Festival right now, without even knowing it.

Oh yeah, there's more. So very much more.

Stan4dSteph 05-16-2008 07:17 AM

Salade Oeufs - green salad with eggs, cheese and tomatoes
Tarte Saumon Epinards - salmon and spinach quiche
Tarte Rhubarb - Rhubarb tart for dessert

cirquelover 05-16-2008 08:24 AM

I decided it was going to be hot today and I wouldn't want to cook, so I started it last night. We are having a hawaiian plate lunch, soju chicken, rice and macaroni. Oh and fresh pineapple for the boy and I, yumm!

No fair! You're in France where the food rocks.

Once again, I'll be having leftovers from the previous night's dinner.

Cold Udon noodles.

Capt Jack 05-16-2008 03:07 PM

Snowflake 05-16-2008 03:17 PM

Bad, flavorless Vietnamese from the place next door.
How can you screw up grilled pork over vermacelli? I dunno, but they did and it will be a very cold day in hell before I venture inside to try their Pho.

Kevy Baby 05-16-2008 03:26 PM

Double Double Animal Style no pickles
Fries
Large iced tea (refilled twice)

Morrigoon 05-16-2008 03:43 PM

I would really like fish and chips about now. Already eaten lunch, and it's not like I have the money to be eating out. But fish and chips sounds really good at the moment.

Man do I miss the heyday of H. Salt.

Snowflake 05-16-2008 03:49 PM

H. Salt Fish & Chips for Goonie

There was one in Sunnyvale growing up, not any more.

BarTopDancer 05-16-2008 04:05 PM

GusGus 05-16-2008 05:29 PM

Oh, and I had tuna salad with sliced cucumbers and shredded carrots on whole grain bread.

JWBear 05-19-2008 12:31 PM

I just finished a french dip from the coffee shop next to my office. They serve it with a side of horseradish. Mmmmmm... lunch and sinus relief at the same time... :)

Kevy Baby 05-19-2008 12:54 PM

I think a chicken Caesar salad and a cup of tomato basil soup from Corner Bakery sounds good today.

Snowflake 05-19-2008 01:05 PM

hungry and I cannot decide where to go and what to eat......

CoasterMatt 05-19-2008 02:18 PM

grilled cheese, with chips and blue cheese and bacon dip.

Prudence 05-19-2008 02:30 PM

nothing so far, since I had scrambled eggs (with milk, chives, and smoked salmon - made last night and good even reheated) and bacon for breakfast and I'm still full.

BarTopDancer 05-19-2008 02:37 PM

I had an oscar meyer sandwich creation kit. Tasty and filling.

Snowflake 05-19-2008 03:18 PM

Chevy's to-go wrap at the Big City Wraps. Not a good choice, I'm now munching papaya tablets to calm my stomach. Now I know why there was no line at 1:15. The place used to be packed with people.

GusGus 05-21-2008 05:36 PM

Great White from BJ's. No tomatoes.

Ate double noodle soup. Which tasted like nothing. Which is to say it didn't taste like water, either.

Ugh.

Sick sucks.

Morrigoon 01-26-2009 02:28 PM

Avocado with a little salt. Thinking later I may add a baked potato with cheese, green onion and bacon.

JWBear 01-26-2009 03:45 PM

Unfortunately, today's lunch had nothing to do with fellatio

Snowflake 04-13-2011 12:40 PM

Vietnamese grilled pork over rice with cha gio (imperial rolls). Absolutely fantastic lunch. :D

JWBear 04-13-2011 01:54 PM

Taco Bell (I had a craving)

On the road

I wonder why I am so fat?

Kevy Baby 04-14-2011 08:10 PM

Today was Lobster Carbonara from Maggiano's. Not bad for a chain.

Morrigoon 06-16-2011 03:29 PM

At noon it was a turkey dog with ketchup

Now it's a steamed artichoke. Haven't decided if it's with butter or garlic curry mayo, but given how I've reacted to garlic these days, it's probably going to be butter.

alphabassettgrrl 06-17-2011 02:26 PM

Lunch was chicken vindaloo. Yum!!! Spicy and chicken and yum.

lashbear 06-17-2011 05:50 PM

Grilled Scotch Fillet from the local pub ! (with a beer, of course)

Gn2Dlnd 06-25-2011 02:32 PM

Scotch fillet? And is it "fillay" or "fillit"?

lashbear 06-25-2011 06:59 PM

Fillit if you're saying in Anglo, Filay if you're saying in french.

Gn2Dlnd 06-27-2011 12:30 PM

In Amurrican we say "fillay."

Unless it's gumbo, and then we say "feelay." But that's a different thing altogether.

Betty 06-27-2011 01:06 PM

a salad of greens, croutons, chicken, walnuts, grapes (we'll see how they go) and I think I have some broc to throw in there too.

Moonliner 07-26-2011 01:48 PM

This seems like a good place to post this...

Wow, that sounds delish.

I'm having a baked BBQ pork bao from Eastern Bakery. It's delish, too.

Capt Jack 07-28-2011 02:00 PM

Great Wall el cheapo chinese.

pretty decent stuff

Betty 07-29-2011 06:35 AM

Today will be a salad with lettuce, turkey, cranberries (dried), walnuts, granny smith apples (matchsticked), carrots, and... I think I'm leaving something out but can't remember what it is. Croutons - but there's still something else.

oh - and celery. It's sort of a modified waldorf salad.

CoasterMatt 07-30-2011 07:29 AM

Yesterday, I had lunch (and beer) at an excellent restaurant near Faneuil Hall (the name escapes me, but they claim to be the second oldest restaurant in Boston), then some beer at the Bell in Hand Tavern (America's oldest continuously operating tavern), then some beer at the Side Bar (downstairs in our hotel). Some point after that I had dinner and beer at McGreevys.

Kevy Baby 07-30-2011 02:15 PM

I hope you like beer

CoasterMatt 07-30-2011 05:06 PM

Had 2 more beers at the airport, along with a really delicious chicken pasta.

I just got handed a Martini, and according to the seat to seat chat, I'm a round behind the rest of the group. (There are 8 of us who wound up on this flight).

Snowflake 08-30-2011 12:45 PM

Leftover grilled chicken covered in BBQ sauce, steamed veggies.

CoasterMatt 08-30-2011 12:54 PM

I'm going to look for a bike. Then maybe a salad.

Alex 08-30-2011 12:56 PM

Four slices of deli turkey, some mustard, on a pita.

JWBear 08-30-2011 01:39 PM

Ham (not the thin processed luncheon meat ham, but thick peices of fresh ham steak) and swiss between split buttermilk biscuits. Yum!

Betty 08-30-2011 03:08 PM

I had a "sun dried tomato turkey" sandwich with swiss, mayo and lettuce on sourdough, toasted, with some bread and butter pickles on the side.

I've always thought that was an odd name for pickles. I don't really care for the dill ones much.

Betty 08-30-2011 03:10 PM

so I immediately thought - why are they called bread and butter pickles? And here's the semi-interesting answer:

Quote:

Legend has it that bread-and-butter pickles got their name during the Great Depression. The sweet, crunchy cukes were said to be a staple because they were cheap, shelf stable and could become a meal when sandwiched between bread and butter

Morrigoon 03-26-2012 03:42 PM

bacon-wrapped sausage sandwich on bolillo bread with sauteed mushrooms, onions and garlic
