Very sad, but a great excuse for me to break out Blazing Saddles for a late night viewnig. Thanks for the many laughs, Harv!

Truly and sincerely, Korman was one of my very favorites. I can't tell you how many times I have quoted his character in Blazing Saddles. I can still recall seeing him at the Hyatt Hotel cafe in Burlingame, sitting by himself at a table; each time the waitress would walk by, he would hold up his finger and open his mouth as if to speak, his finger tracing her movement past the table. It is sort of hard to explain, but it was very funny, and each time he did it the tables nearby would break out in a quiet sort of titter. When she finally did notice, he smiled and waved her off, acknowledging that it was all indeed just a little show put on for anybody who had noticed.

He may not have been a giant in comedy, but his portrayal as Hedley Lamarr in Blazing Saddles sealed his place in movie history.

I wish he could have stuck around a little longer.

I think I'm rare for my generation of Korman fans in that I know him better from Carol Burnett than Blazing Saddles. My parents were fans of the Burnett Show, enough that they'd always catch the anniversary specials or when they'd syndicate the episodes. That, and they wouldn't have let me near a rated R Mel Brooks movie.

He made me laugh. I'll miss him.

I have to thank my mother for something and introducing me to this show was one of them. Lots of great memories.

Wow, this one really hurts. I'm glad he did what he did for the world and brought me a gabillion laughs over my whole life. He was easily in the top 5 all time funniest comedians ever.

In an interview on the Blazing Saddles DVD there is an interview in which he said he always liked it when someone would say... "Hey look! There's Heady Lamar!" and he would gladly answer "That's HEADLY! Headly Lamar!"

I always wanted to do that if I saw him in person..

Damn... :( Time to put on Saddles...

Back when on Saturday night, it was more fun to stay home with Carol Burnett and Bob Newhart and Mary Tyler Moore. Harvey, R-I-P, thanks for all the laughs and I can never have Rasinettes and not think of Hedly Lamarr

My parents were the same (though we'd also watch the Mel Brooks stuff). I adored his style and timing.

I'll always love Harvey for his performance as The Great Gazoo on the Flintstones...

I also have fond memories of his role in Buck Henry's First Family (a quick scan shows that this isn't out on DVD... why?). His "chi-chi or la-la?" line is still a staple in my house.

I recongize pictures of him, of course, but looking at his resume it appears the only significant credits of his I've seen more recently than when I was a pre-teen are History of the World, Part I and High Anxiety.

I don't think I've ever seen so much as an episode of The Carol Burnett Show though I've certainly seen individual skits replayed.

Lani, however, made rare mention of a celebrity death on this one.

Did he do the voice of Gazoo for the live action/cgi Flintstone film? If not, shame on the producers!

This made me very sad. The irony is I just watched a infomercial selling the Carol Burnett show yesterday and laughed a lot with them. Now it makes me miss him even more. RIP, my friend!

I guess I should go make sure Tim Conway is still alive. I loved those two together, they made me bust a gut as a child.

Tim Conway is still alive. The big shock is that handsome straight man Lyle Waggoner is 73 and looks it. The bigger shock is that for about half of his run on the Carol Burnett Show, Harvey Korman was younger than I am now.

Harvey was looking his age at the end.

I too am deeply saddened to hear of Harvey's passing. My first memories of him were for his brilliant work on Carol's show, but his film work with Mel Brooks was also uproariously funny. I also remember seeing him play Bud Abbot and thinking to myself, wow, he's a good dramatic actor too!"

You will be sorely missed Mr. Korman.
