Sweet Evil
Today, my grief therapist told me about something wonderful, yet evil, and I just had to share:
http://www.sprinklescupcakes.com/index.html So much for my eating healthier!! Cupcakes are my absolute weakness. Has anyone tried these yet? |
Oh my yes. And they're every bit as good as they sound, if not better.
errrr, I mean, umm, they're foul, horrible tasting things and you're better off never touching them. yeah. |
Yes, and a few other of the specialty cupcake places that have popped up over the last year.
They're good. They are not, however, worth north of $4 a piece. Not even close. |
I never went to any grief counseling when my dad died. If eating cupcakes is their idea of helping process the loss, I guess I am glad I skipped it! I was in such bad shape back then, I'd have likely eaten all the cupcakes and the building, too.

They look yummy, sinfully rich but still yummy!

Vendors bring them in to our Operations team during the holiday season. Since I am the lone IT person in the state, they keep me well informed of vendor goodies.

Wow! I can't believe we've known each other this long and you're only getting intimate wtih Sprinkles now!
I've been pimping them for years. I'm making a short film about them. They've even been at every party we've ever hosted! Oh, except for the recent dramatic reading party, as we opted for the ever-thematic bananas brulee. Anyway, I'm similarly fond of cupcakes in general, and these are my ultimate favorites. I'm only allowed about one a season (and a couple around my birthday.) They're all tasty, but the simple vanilla is my personal weakness. I am not sure whether to curse or to worship Wes Craven, who sends them to our office every Christmas (it was how I was introduced.) I'm glad you've found them! They are a lovely treat. |
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the link, Disneyphile! I'm so sending a dozen to my daughter in college this fall.
|
I'm all for a good cupcake. However, good or bad, I can't support the trend of cupcakes replacing birthday cake at kids' parties. I don't eat the stuff (unless it's my own kids' parties), but the spectacle of a lit cake being brought out, then sliced, passed out and shared should be preserved.
|
Yes, thanks to the generosity of LSPE, I've had the pleasure of sampling these devilish treats. They are every bit as delicious and addictive as one might imagine, perhaps more so. :)
|
ohhhh yes, the cupcakes with nipples, I love those things!!! Gobbled them up at various parties around SoCal.

I'd have to agree. I made that comment when they first came out with birthday cupcakes put together to look like a cake. I even saw graduation cupcake cakes this year at Safeway. The boy had cupcakes for his bday this year but we didn't have a party. So he wanted to bring Iron Man colored cupcakes to everyone he knew before we all went to see Iron Man on his bday. I like cup cakes because they are a nice small portion of cake and then I hopefully don't overindulge:blush: |
Don't feel bad DP, I have never heard of these.
Though they seem excessive for cupcakes. They are cupcake sized? yes? |
Jim Gaffigan bit:
And what is it with all this cake at the office? A: Hey, there's a party for Joe in the lunchroom. B: Geez, I can't stand that guy. A: There's cake. B: Well, I should stop in and say hello. |
i have not had those, but I can probably make better. I'll let you know if I ever have any.

They sound pretty good...except we don't have those kind of shops here.
As far as cupcakes vs traditional cake for Birthdays I do prefer cake. The reason? One of my pet peeves is sprinkles (not the shops you are referencing ). I just don't like the texture of them in my mouth. Yes...I know I'm weird. However I think a larger than usual cupcake is perfect for a Birthday treat for someone celebrating a Birthday by his/her self (like someone away at College) as long as it includes a candle or two to be placed and lit. It might also work well as a surprise for a friend or a relative that lives far away. Speaking of candles I have an idea about one that I have not seen done before. Remember the Unbirthday cake from Alice In Wonderland? I am picturing a larger than normal candle (with stripes) that when lit plays the Unbirthday song and looks like a sparkler (but is not fake...if that is even possibl3e I have no idea). Does a candle like this actually exist? |

Dude, BDB, I would so love one of those candles. I'd love to put it on a cake like this! |

Anywho...back to the candle....Sadly my imagination comes up with the idea but I don't know how to make it happen and become a reality. I have a fantastic imagination but usually my skills and knowledge are lacking if that makes any sense. |
I have seen the candles that play music, my boys bought me the Over the Hill one that plays the death march, a few years ago. They're lucky to both still be alive;)
I think the sparkler might melt the frosting. It would sure look cool until it did though! |

[quote=LSPoorEeyorick;215524]I am sure your cupcakes are scrumptious, Melonballer. I also make great cupcakes but I'm unable to come close to the perfection that is Sprinkles.
QUOTE] One of these days I hope to be able to bake for more of my online friends, both from here and other sites. Ask anyone who has had my baking and they will back me up. I would like to try the cupcakes from Sprinkles, just for comparison. They might be better. |
No Sprinkles here, but we do have this and boy are their cupcakes excellent. Unfortunately (or fortunately since it keeps me from indulging) they are also verrrrrry expensive.
|
I credit LSPE for my first Sprinkles experience. I can't look at another cupcake without craving Sprinkles. Interestingly enough, there is another (new) cupcake store that just opened up down the street from Sprinkles. It's called Crumbs. The Chocolate Blackout is really good, but most of their cupcake selections have a mess of frosting!

BTW... Happy National Donut day!!!!
I brought donuts to work today. |

At a closer glance it looks like three big doughnuts in two layers with frosting keeping it all together. |
