Woo hoo!

Some folks have already rented accomodations for the Hearst days - but I'd really like to be part of this, so I'm willing to do research for another portion of us who'd like to stay in the area too.

Anybody want to join in with Tom and I?

I really want zapppop to come along. He's so interested in architecture. But if he does, we'll need to arrive a day early or something ... because he (and anyone who hasn't been there before) should take the 2 tours the Lashpair already took last time.






Oh, and who's going to start the separate thread about the LashPair's third Thursday in the States? And we'll also need one for the second Wednesday afternoon. :p

I think I have the answer, all of this would just be less complicated if the Lashpair would just upit and move to the USA already. Then we would not have 637 different travel threads.

I've been to Butchart Gardens!

I went there when I went to Vancouver in 1986. Went to visit family. And there was that whole EXPO '86 thing going on. That was pretty cool too.

Yeah, Butchart Gardens is near Victoria which is on Vancouver Island which is not the same thing as Vancouver. Once again, I was 9. My family was in Surrey. We flew in to the Vancouver airport. Near is a relative term. :p

Oh and in case that was a serious question, Canadans drive on the right side of the road just like Americans. They are thoroughly dominated culturally.

Oh, um, yes, the story is really magnificent about Randolph Hearst. tim tams are everything Aussie that Vegemite is only DELISH! I was lucky to get the gift of a package when I was acting as the go between for our beloved bear as he supported the troops back in the day....a dear friend of ours was serving in the sand when the war started and Lash spent an insane amount of money to ship a package to me for me to send on to our friend....and sent a pack of tim tams as a treat for me...I will say that tim tams are still remembered fondly as the only chocolate that survived the desert heat.

Holy crap, I experienced Tim Tams for the first time last year when friends of ours visited family in Australia and brought us like 5 boxes of 'em. Fantastic! I kept a package in the freezer for hourly emergencies.
