innerSpaceman 06-23-2008 04:28 PM

Ok, that's hysterical.

Fortunately for my wallet, I hate car navigation systems.

Morrigoon 06-23-2008 05:26 PM

The unit with the lights is sweet - but the Lashes' link to a voice that works on my current system is teh awesome ;) Thanks!

Downloadable voices for my GPS! It never even occurred to me! (and this is from the nerd who hacked his AOL voices)

Ya, but that was pretty easy...

Cadaverous Pallor 06-23-2008 06:23 PM

A quick search reveals that Garmin doesn't allow download of voices the way TomTom does. Damn!

Morrigoon 06-23-2008 07:35 PM

Dude, the site had Darth Vader as well. I have Darth Vader on my TomTom!

Kevy Baby 06-23-2008 07:50 PM

Ozzy Osborne. That's who I want guiding me!

lashbear 06-23-2008 08:50 PM

I'm partial to a Queen guiding me.....

Your search was too quick. I found two sites that sell voices for Garmin as well as one with instructions on how to record them yourself.

HAL would be a good voice to follow ... unless he turned on you, just as he did in the Kubrick film, and directed you into oncoming traffic, or something.

You can download John Cleese to be your TomTom voice. I haven't decided if I want to spend $13 or not yet. Right now I have Katrina from New Zealand.

The only site I'm finding so far is this one, which has crappy ones. http://www.pigtones.com/garminvoices
