US Air to remove in-flight movies

US Airways will begin removing inflgiht movie systems from planes running domestic flights (except to HI) to save fuel. Story here

Fine. I hate those inflight movies. They're always edited and cropped.
You can never walk down the aisle when one is playing. There's always a huge line to the bathroom as soon as the movie ends. Good riddance.

On the other hand, in-seat entertainment like JetBlue or Virgin? Wonderful.

I'm thinking of buying a portable DVD player because so many airlines have already ditched it before. Now when I fly it's actually a surprise when they have a movie.

I can't stand airline versions of movies. They stink. Badly edited on crummy screens... I mean, who wants to watch a G-rated Sin City? I'm joking, but you get the picture. Picture... hahaha.
I love in-seat players though. Yay!
:)

My DS is simply lovely on flights. In flight movies are only good because the lights are dimmed and you can take good advantage of the Ambien you pop before take-off ;)

I do remember catching part of an in-flight movie of a film that I hadn't seen and probably wouldn't have otherwise. But seeing it on the plane caused me to see the real movie when I got home and I actually enjoyed it.

Just wish I could remember what film it was.

The Jimmy Neutron Movie?

In-flight movies is really suck. Like you said, GC, it's badly edited on crummy screens. And they pretty small so you can barely see whats on the screens, let alone see words on it. So, that's good they're getting rid of it.

Don't go knocking Jimmy. Or the Fairly Odd Parents.

I actually hate in-seat entertainment. The constant flickering commercials (when you don't buy the service) are Right.In.Front.Of.Me. and very distracting. I'm going to start packing cardboard and tape in my carry-on.

BarTopDancer 07-11-2008 02:27 PM

Love Jet Blue. Except when there is a hockey game on and they don't carry the FS channel that shows it. That's just mean.

On JetBlue you can turn it off. Just kill the people next to you and shut their's off too.

Oh NO! Where will I ever get to see Space Chimps and Beverly Hills Chihuahua? I will never see them in the theater, rent or buy them or even watch on TV.

When I saw Wall-E last weekend I saw the trailer for the aforementioned movie. I have never seen such an absurd preview. I was laughing all the way through it. I have no desire to see it but I left the theatre humming and singing the song. At least it has that going for it.

Well, rumor has it that Jimmy Neutron himself is a liberal. I hear he is the love child of Jane Fonda and James Carville. Will your opinion change of him now, I wonder? The Fairly Odd Parents, I hear, live up to their name and are conservative.

:D

No, no, no....Jimmmy Neutron is the Boy Genius. This excludes him from being a liberal.:p
