“To all who come to this happy place; welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past...and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and the hard facts that have created America...with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

innerSpaceman 07-17-2008 08:17 AM

hahaha, I want Herbie to be there today!!!

wendybeth 07-17-2008 08:58 AM

I can't believe it's been three years since the 50th! I still can't look at cupcakes without feeling a little nauseated. (Not that they were bad- they were just a bit too plentiful). Didn't Mrs. Mousepod wind up with a pallet of them, or is that an urban myth?

Happy Birthday to my favorite place on Earth!

scaeagles 07-17-2008 09:08 AM

Is anyone here older than Disneyland? WB?

belleh5 07-17-2008 09:09 AM

No, 'tis true. I spotted the mousepods at the Harbor Blvd crosswalk after closing (I think it was after the park closed) with 2 trays of cupcakes. They offered me and Ralphie some, we declined...
:)

This should be interesting.

The 50th was a lifetime ago and just yesterday - all rolled up into one. I can't believe it!

Happy Birthday, DL! You've enriched my life in so many ways, may you continue to do so for generations to come!

Gn2Dlnd 07-17-2008 09:26 AM

Happy Birthday Disneyland

Motorboat Cruiser 07-17-2008 12:15 PM

This one will be the first I have missed in many years. We're just both pretty swamped with work today. Plus, we are blocked out. Still, it is strange.

I hope that all that attend today have a wonderful time.

And a happy birthday to a dear old friend. :)

lashbear 07-17-2008 04:00 PM

Hipy Papy Disseth landeth bithuthday.

wendybeth 07-17-2008 06:54 PM

Today, a client gave me a litho of Sorcerer Mickey- he had no idea that it was Disneyland's b-day. Great timing, and very nice picture.:)

flippyshark 07-17-2008 08:17 PM

Hey, it's a decade older than me, so I'll always feel young next to Disneyland!

Chernabog 07-17-2008 08:36 PM

Yay! We saw the totally silly "dedication" ceremony today. Oh lord, I think our comments ruined some people's video of the whole silly thing but... oh well. Disneyland is MY land. So there. :p

I'm not as nice a stalker as Lisa. Watch it, mister.

(And I'm only a few years older than you, which means I'll still probably live longer than you.)

:D

NirvanaMan 07-17-2008 09:31 PM

Unfortunately not going to make it this year. ;(

Have fun

JWBear 07-17-2008 09:58 PM

I'm back, and I'm exhausted. It was fun, but the park really didn't do anything to make it feel like a special day. And Chernabog is right, the "dedication ceremony" was beyond lame. And of course, Ed was nowhere to be found.

Kevy Baby 07-17-2008 11:27 PM

It was good to share the park with friends again - it has been far too long!

Oh, and uh... Happy Birthday DL

ToriBear 07-17-2008 11:47 PM

Wow, three years since DL 50th birthday.

HB DL!!

keith - SuPeR K! 07-18-2008 02:17 AM

I'm sad that couldn't be there. Happy Birthday Disneyland! 2 more years and we have 55!

innerSpaceman 07-18-2008 09:26 AM

Well, that was the first Disneyland Birthday in 28 years without fireworks.

That pretty much describes my entire experience there yesterday. It was pleasant, but no birthday spark. Just seemed like a regular visit to the Park.

Yes, I'm in the midst of a bout of depression, so that surely colored my opinion. Midway Mania was loads of fun though. I had a smile plastered on my face for an hour afterwards.

I'm glad I didn't not go. But it was my most 'meh' Disneyland Birthday ever. Nice to see everyone, tho.

Cadaverous Pallor 07-18-2008 09:35 AM

It was awesome seeing everyone at the park again. We need to, you know, go there for a day. And like, do stuff. :)

JWBear 07-18-2008 10:28 AM

I haven't been to DCA in over two years. Now that I have a pass again, I should go check it out.

Morrigoon 07-18-2008 10:32 AM

What made it fun was the company... but on the Disneyland end, it was just another day.

Not Afraid 07-18-2008 10:33 AM

I'm glad we went to the Park. It was a fun evening and it got much better after I chowed down on salad, macaroni with a side of macaroni. Midway Mania was really great but my arm still hurts. Its a shame there were no fireworks, but it gave us the chance to sy our long goodbyes and go home.

I completely agree with CP. We must plan a meet.

innerSpaceman 07-18-2008 10:36 AM

Heheh, last night we were saying they should keep Fantasy in the Sky waiting in the wings for nights when it's too windy to do the 18th year of 50th Anniversary Remember.

It would mean the show could go on, plus a nostalgic treat.

Ghoulish Delight 07-18-2008 10:40 AM

Wish we could have been there earlier. Stupid work. Sorry to have showed up only to bail across the way, but we've seen fireworks, we hadn't been on Midway Mania and god knows when we'll be back so we seized the opportunity.

The lack of fireworks was disappointing, I was looking forward to enjoying them from afar as we made our exit.

innerSpaceman 07-18-2008 11:07 AM

Between cancelling fireworks mid-show on 4th of July, and not having them at all on Disneyland Birthday, the Park is having the most lame pyro summer in its history.

katiesue 07-18-2008 11:17 AM

We had a great time. Maddy finally crashed and burned when we got to the car. And she just woke up a few minutes ago.

Thanks everyone it was super fun!

Just move to the Tustin/Santa Ana area.

I hear & see them just about every night.

JWBear 07-18-2008 12:06 PM

Sorry I bailed so early, but I was very tired. I got a very good night's sleep last night, so I'm awake and functioning today at work (but why that's necessarily a good thing, I don't know).

CoasterMatt 07-18-2008 12:17 PM

It was nice to see everybody, and it was a great day overall - but it could have been any day at Disneyland.

I'm sorry I bailed kinda early, too, and that Laurie and I were on a sorta separate schedule while I was there. Ugh, went to opening show of Batman afterward. Long movie that didn't end till 3 am ... so, quite the opposite of JW, I am barely functioning at work today.

Happy 53rd Disneyland!

I had fun yesterday think it was with everyone. Toy Story was a blast the second time i got to ride it. I think each time it gets better to me at least. My arm doesn't hurt thankfully cuz now i know how to grip the string and ball instead of with my whole hand like i previously did. Plus first time thru i was so distracted by everything this time i could just relax and giggle and just shreek with excitement lol...

Lack of fireworks oh well been there done that ain't lookin back. NO biggie. I think it's rather funny last time i saw Disneyland fireworks was on April 6th yes i am antsy to see them again but i will live.

Would love to do a meet again but hey at least i was able to make it to the park. Renewing our season passes for another year.

Had a blast got home around 3am to find the DMV had my personalized Bon Jovi license plates ready to be picked up so today after sleeping went to pick them up and did some errands came home and napped now i'm almost feeling like human again.

If the hat turns up fine if not oh well no biggie.

My left knee is killing me next time i'm gonna wear a wrap around the knee.

Happy 53rd Disneyland!

Oh ya Joe it was so good to talk to you about the Voyager phone you have. I am really thinking of upgrading to that particular phone now more than ever i can't wait now lol....

Chernabog 07-18-2008 08:38 PM

Just remember the Voyager takes some time to get used to, it is not as intuitive as it could be....

I love it now tho.

So sorry I couldnt stay for the evening!!! I had to be up at 4:45am to fly to Excemento for a deposition..... bleagh.

Cadaverous Pallor 07-23-2008 07:03 PM

Heh, followed this guy to his YouTube page and saw this. GD and I are watching this show and yup, he did look like a total moron. :D

He does comedy specifically about Disneyland. Try this one for a giggle. (psst - stick with the Big Thunder one, it's got a good punchline.)
