Thursday Night Pot-Luck...

Last week my sister was in town, so we threw together a last-minute dinner at our place. We had so much fun that we realized we should do it more often.

So in the spirit of fun, and for no other reason than "it's Thursday", we're going to have a pot-luck dinner at our place at 7p.m. to 10ish.

Two rules:

1. We have limited seating (8 around the table + 4 more), so you're gonna need to RSVP by, say, Wednesday. First 10 to RSVP and we close the list.

2. There are no food rules. You can bring anything you want. A salad, an entree, dessert, take-out, leftovers, anything. No poison (OK, so that's a rule, but it's pretty common sense). If we wind up with all salads, we'll order pizza. If we have no dessert, well, Winchell's is open 24 hours...

I will make sure we have plenty of fuzzy water.

PM me with your RSVP.

Hope to see you then!

Why must I live so far from all the fun stuff :(

Have a good time peoples!

Tell me about it....

Gn2Dlnd 07-27-2008 07:07 PM

I think a potluck of foods containing the word "pot" would be fun. Handicap: no pot brownies or any other marijuana laced food.

In your case, its intentional.

Ghoulish Delight 07-27-2008 08:27 PM

Well, I usually try not to leave it up to luck.

But I'm sure we'll find ourselves up there some thursday(s) or other(s).

Gemini Cricket 07-27-2008 08:31 PM

I dunno. I may have to work late that night. My boss is kinda mean.

Not Afraid 07-28-2008 10:44 AM

I have a walkies about 6:30 but will head up after that. Chris may be available too, but I can't speak for him. (Or I can just drag him along under protest.)

Gemini Cricket 07-28-2008 10:46 AM

I'm there.
:)

mousepod 07-28-2008 10:57 AM

So as it currently stands, we're at 7. Maybe 9. Just so's you know.

innerSpaceman 07-28-2008 11:21 AM

Tempted, but i'm so bad at food.

Snowflake 07-28-2008 11:23 AM

:(
Tempted, too far away.

LSPoorEeyorick 07-28-2008 11:26 AM

I've got a crunch at night this week, but if I can clear enough of it out before Thursday, I'd be happy to join in.

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 07-28-2008 05:01 PM

I would love to join you, if there is still room. And if there is still room, please let me know what you'd like me to bring. Lovely of you both to put this together.

mousepod 07-28-2008 05:59 PM

Here's the "for sure" list so far:

1. Heather
2. me
3. Gn2Dlnd
4. Gemini Cricket
5. NotAfraid
6. €uro
7. Chernabog
8. iSm
9. EH1812

We have at least two "maybes"....

Morrigoon 07-28-2008 07:57 PM

No money for gas right now, but this is definitely something I'd do on a future date, if offered (I swear, one of these days I WILL make a MousePod event!)

€uroMeinke 07-28-2008 08:15 PM

Are we talking this Thursday? If so, I'll need to reschedule my hair appointment. Then again, I'm driving in to work that day so maybe Lisa and I can join late?

lashbear 07-28-2008 08:39 PM

Put me down for a "Maybe".

That's good, 'cause I'm bringing dessert. It will be yummy.

Chernabog 07-29-2008 04:08 PM

Sadly, I think I am a "maybe" too. Work is killing me, literally. I can't keep up this level of stress and my FU<KING BOSS hasn't shown up for 2 days or returned phone calls.

I came |thisclose| today to having a complete hissy fit and walking off the job. Unfortunately I don't want to eat through all my savings yet. Nor would just exiting be completely professional.

OK, so this should be in the vent thread. ;)

alphabassettgrrl 07-29-2008 05:47 PM

**hugs** Sorry you're having such a hard time, Cherny. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

€uroMeinke 07-29-2008 07:23 PM

Ok, I rescheduled my hair appointment - so if I look shaggy - it's your fault

mousepod 07-29-2008 07:30 PM

I just bought an extra 36" x 72" table at Target, and Heather picked up 8 more chairs. This will be a comfortable shindig.

...and there's nothing wrong with a shaggy €uro.

innerSpaceman 07-29-2008 08:15 PM

Zoinks!

But we have to draw the line at a Scrappy €uro.

But Scrappy €uro could be fun!

lizziebith 07-30-2008 09:02 AM

Can't attend this time, but sometime we'd love to! We really need to get out more...

Not Afraid 07-30-2008 09:16 AM

I will do doggie dinner at 6 then head up after that.

Morrigoon 07-30-2008 09:20 AM

Chinese food, huh?

(ooh, that was one of my worse attempts...)

mousepod 07-30-2008 09:26 AM

Chairs & table in place. Room for a couple more...

Gn2Dlnd 07-31-2008 01:18 AM

I'm looking forward to it.

Is anyone bringing quorn?

Not Afraid 07-31-2008 09:16 AM

I have no idea what I'm bringing and I'm in a bit of a panic over it.

Gn2Dlnd 07-31-2008 09:19 AM

Joe's a definite probable no-go 'cause of work. If I should pick up a date at the Century City farmer's mkt., I'll bring him instead. Who knows, maybe he'll supply fresh produce.

Assuming that won't happen, do we have a list of what's being brought so we can fill in the empty trivets? I'm making Caesar salad. I can also bring mashed fauxtatoes if we need a hot veg/starch. Who's got the bacon commitment?

I probably won't be able to check this thread until I get home from my mkt., so if you need to contact me, use the good old phone. I'm still not figuring out how to twitter from my cell.

You're bringing quiche.

Or lasagna.

Something casserolle-y.

innerSpaceman 07-31-2008 09:23 AM

If i have any money left over as I cruise by the Parmesan Palace this afternoon, I'll pick up some thin crisps in addition to dessert. :p

CoasterMatt 07-31-2008 09:23 AM

Hop in a Plymouth Satellite, and bring some quiche lorraine...

LSPoorEeyorick 07-31-2008 09:27 AM

I am bringing corn-and-bean cilantro salad.

innerSpaceman 07-31-2008 09:35 AM

Is that with corn or quorn?

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 07-31-2008 09:45 AM

I am bringing a tomato and cucumber salad and possibly a store bought hot something. Been working late-ish and getting home very late because of the bus commute, so haven't had time to cook. My apologies.

Gemini Cricket 07-31-2008 09:46 AM

No idea what I'm bringing. I work until 6pm, so I'll see what we're lacking at that point and bring that.

So he might produce produce?

He, sadly, remains fictional.

On my way to Trader Joe's for lettuce and whatnot. Looks like we're pretty heavy on salads, call me if I should pick up something more substantial.

Kevy Baby 07-31-2008 07:24 PM

Is it too late to join for tonight (especially considering I am still behind the Orange Curtain)?

CoasterMatt 07-31-2008 07:47 PM

Have fun everybody!

Um [looks at watch] ... yes.

Cadaverous Pallor 08-01-2008 09:39 AM

The tweets made it sound divine

Not Afraid 08-01-2008 09:49 AM

Anyone with garlic breath this morning?

BarTopDancer 08-01-2008 09:51 AM

Since it's not always feasible to drive to LA on a weeknight, we should have an OC potluck on Thursday nights and join together via web cam and twitter.

innerSpaceman 08-01-2008 09:52 AM

Mmmm. never too much Garlic.

Thanks so much to the mousepod and the devine Mrs. H. for a wonderful evening of gastronomic and companionship delights!

OMG, that would be so fun! We could skype!

Snowflake 08-01-2008 10:31 AM

Even in lieu of Tref's posting and GC's accident, etc., feeling just a tad bitter this morning.......
