Say Goodbye to McDisneyland!

According to some folks at MousePad, McD's is shutting down Burger Invasion at DCA and the two fry stands at DL. :snap:

:D

Isaac 08-01-2008 01:39 PM

Yup!

Burger Invasion will close on Sept 2nd, as well as the Harbor Galley and Westward Ho!

mousepod 08-01-2008 01:42 PM

I'm surprised that this didn't happen sooner. It's been a while since Disney pulled their "Happy Meal" support.

They should dismantle the turkey leg ODV cart and serve those from the wagon - it would totally look awesome.

And, they should return Harbor Galley to a fish-n-chips stand.

Hopefully, TDA still remembers how to theme.

CoasterMatt 08-01-2008 01:44 PM

How about serving decent fries at ANY Disneyland venue? Or is that asking for too much?

Morrigoon 08-01-2008 01:58 PM

Harbor Galley used to serve potato skins. I'd be very pleased to see the return of those.

katiesue 08-01-2008 02:06 PM

Mmmmm Popcorn Shrimp.

MouseWife 08-01-2008 02:10 PM

Is it lunch time or what? :D

Bad for me or not, hot McD's fries are yummy.

BDBopper 08-01-2008 02:14 PM

God be praised! :)

Snowflake 08-01-2008 02:16 PM

Well, for the swank factor, I think a return of the Tahitian Terrace would be a good thing. I'll wager GC does a mean hula.

Disneyphile 08-01-2008 02:19 PM

I've been hoping for the return of TT for a loooooong time. Hopefully, my wish will come true someday.

Good.

Morrigoon 08-01-2008 02:33 PM

TT would be awesome - and if they opened up the sightlines a bit, the Aladdin queue area would make a killer smoothie bar!

CoasterMatt 08-01-2008 02:37 PM

The McDonald's fries are about the only decent snack left IN Disneyland, though :(

innerSpaceman 08-01-2008 02:42 PM

OMG, I miss the seaoned curly fries at the Harbor Galley, sigh.

And sadly, CoasterMatts' right ... there's ZERO good snack food at the Park.

Alex 08-01-2008 03:02 PM

After a decade, I think the McDonald's stuff officially becomes part of the permanent fabric of Disneyland.

Therefore I will hold my breath until they are returned.

LSPoorEeyorick 08-01-2008 03:32 PM

Well, I like the grilled veggie kabobs. And Dole Whip. So I respectfully disagree.

Ghoulish Delight 08-01-2008 03:40 PM

And pretezls.

And fudge.

And churros.

And mozzeralla/chicken strips

And chocolate brownies

BarTopDancer 08-01-2008 03:49 PM

And popcorn.

And ice cream.

CoasterMatt 08-01-2008 03:50 PM

I'll give you Dole Whips, but it's really damn lame that Knott's Berry Farm has better fudge AND brownies.

Churros? You've got to be kidding me... The churros at Disneyland are about as edible as stucco wall treatment (probably older than some of the stucco treatment at DCA, too).

Morrigoon 08-01-2008 04:12 PM

You only say that because you've never tried Costco churros, Matt!

innerSpaceman 08-01-2008 04:13 PM

I'll grant the popcorn is good most days.

Mozzerella/chicken strips also good. But at those prices, not a "snack" It's food. I didn't say there was no good food at the Park. Though it's getting harder to find and even harder to afford.

MouseWife 08-01-2008 04:19 PM

I agree with iSm, a snack food shouldn't be compared with the other foods. I consider it something you can grab and enjoy, maybe share, something to either fix that craving or else help hold you over until a meal.

I think fresh, hot fries, with ketchup, are perfect.

Cold fries, no. Oh, and we do share it.

lashbear 08-01-2008 04:20 PM

I'd be lobbying for seasoned curly fries myself. TDA take note, if you're reading this.

....aussie bears can eat a LOT of fries.... :D

SzczerbiakManiac 08-01-2008 04:31 PM

Where are these spendy Mozzarella/Chicken Strips sold?

Oh, and I'm not sitting next to YOU when I get my fries, then!!! :p

Are Costco churros bad? Because I would imagine Matt is talking more about, say, the authentic, yummy, fresh doughy churros available in any number of latino neighborhoods. Mmm, that one I had on Olvera Street.. I'm drooling at the thought.

I think Stagedoor Cafe, or the walk-up counter by it.

I don't think their bad. They wouldn't stand a chance next to a super authentic one, but they aren't bad. Then again I don't like Churros unless I am standing on Main Street, USA.

innerSpaceman 08-01-2008 04:48 PM

Yep, Stagedoor Cafe. Kinda yum. Kinda expensive.

Gn2Dlnd 08-01-2008 05:16 PM

Churros should be relegated to Frontierland, otherwise, they're just so very Magic Mountain.

Popcorn shrimp, catfish nuggets, and curly fries need to make a return to the Harbor Galley menu. Of course, the catfish may feel differently about the whole thing.

madmonkeygirl 08-01-2008 06:37 PM

Say Goodbye to McDisneyland!

I agree with Matt. Sorry but Knott's has the BEST fudge hands down even over pumpkin fudge. Chocolate boysenberry swirl fudge yummy and it is much cheaper than Disney's. A square is only $3.25 i bought 2 squares and my total plus tax was $6.50. Plus they have boysenberry punch. Now that McDonald's fries will no longer exist the fries that are served elsewhere inside the park suck really are just plain god awfully bad. And i ended up getting a huge cup of Dippin Dots for $4.50 at Knott's as well. I think the lady didn't know what she was doing or they were out of Large cups but when i went to order she came out with a small sized soda cup filled to the top with chocolate Dippin Dots much more for my money than if i went elsewhere in the park. I won't hold my breath when i go back there that i will get the same but hey if i do i scored...

MouseWife 08-01-2008 07:24 PM

I like how often times Knotts' will offer specials for guests, especially those staying at the hotel.

Sometimes they offer the snacks over at the boardwalk area real cheap and other times you can buy a cup and get free refills of boysenberry punch. A few times we've been given cups at the hotel and these were for unlimited fill ups at the park.

Boysenberry punch is sooooo good!!!:p

madmonkeygirl 08-01-2008 09:08 PM

Say Goodbye to McDisneyland!

Boysenberry punch is the best stuff on earth. I seriously won't drink anything else while i'm in the park other than the punch. We joke around that they can just hook up an I.V. of that stuff into our arms. Next time i definitely need to buy a bottle of concentrate to make at home :)

Just in time for my trip :snap:

Bye Bye McDonalds, hello Burger King:p

alphabassettgrrl 08-01-2008 09:32 PM

McD's- good riddance!

I hope we get something good to replace those locations.

MouseWife 08-01-2008 10:04 PM

I just remembered~when I was really really heavy, walking past the Westward Ho! and saying 'Oh, I wonder if they're making McDonalds fries here?' and this skinny blonde woman rolled her eyes at me and made some comment about how ridiculous that was they don't sell McDonalds fries here get over it......

But they did.

Really, though, what could they replace them with, that would be in the same price range? That isn't a meal?

RStar 08-01-2008 11:26 PM

There are times I walk past New Orleans Square and I smell Garlic Bread. I then think, why don't the just sell garlic bread somewhere. I know it sounds strange, but that would make a great snack IMHO.

Oh, and I love grilled burgers much more than fried, so bye bye McD!

Now, if they would put Pome Frits in the Galley, they'd have a winner!:snap:

MouseWife 08-02-2008 05:14 PM

Hmmm, RStar. I haven't ever heard of a snack of garlic bread....but, it could be done up like the pretzel bits.

And, mmmmm, grilled is yummier than fried.

I know, and I think it would be a great idea! I would love it even if it were traditional, and not even fancy little "bits", "Pretzels", or "Tails". Just good old fasioned garlic bread. What's wrong with that? ;)

NirvanaMan 08-02-2008 07:12 PM

Awesome. They can McSuckit.

BarTopDancer 08-02-2008 07:48 PM

I think I managed to escape buying McDonald's within the Disney gates.

Every once in awhile I get a craving for some McNuggets, fries and orange drink. Thankfully it's rare, and thankfully a Happy Meal can fill it. My stomach and head hate me after.

The Original OC Adventure 08-03-2008 08:31 PM

In-n-Out would make a fine replacement.

Ghoulish Delight 08-03-2008 08:32 PM

We ate at Burger Invasion today. By "ate at" I mean we bought a corndog and sat at the tables by Burger Invasion because they were shady. That counts, right?
