Obama VP: Joe Biden

ANNOUNCED: JOE BIDEN

innerSpaceman 08-23-2008 07:53 AM

Um, we have an Obama thread.

Kevy Baby 08-23-2008 04:49 PM

Maybe, but we don't have a "Obama chooses Biden as his veep running mate" thread.

Gemini Cricket 08-23-2008 05:36 PM

Interesting choice.
We'll see if it pays off for him.
Is anyone in the media wondering about McCain's choice? Doesn't seem like it. :D Maybe that frenzy is coming up next.

scaeagles 08-23-2008 08:13 PM

McCain didn't gack a pseudo debate at a church and therefore doesn't need a story to deflect attention away from his butt getting kicked. :)

wendybeth 08-24-2008 12:24 AM

Obama's butt wasn't kicked, Scaeagles- not by a long shot. McCain's bemoaning his infidelity and desertion of his family for the rich chick doesn't cancel it out, and I'm amazed that the 'family values' party is so willing to overlook that particular character flaw.

I liked Biden's speech. He adds a little fire to Obama's campaign, and I think we all need to get fired up.

scaeagles 08-24-2008 06:28 AM

WB, it is almost universally accepted, even among the left, that Obama lost and lost handily....even to the point there was whining that McCain must have cheated. I'm sure there are those that don't think so, and that's cool.

Gn2Dlnd 08-24-2008 07:04 AM

This "pseudo debate" is the one where both candidates chatted with the minister separately? How do you lose a chat? I pay as much attention to the news as anyone, but not FOX, and not talk radio, and your post is the first time I've seen any description of that event as a debate and of Obama having lost.

But, okay, I'll bite that Walnuts was a more convincing panderer to the religious right. I'm still unaware how this is in the news cycle and has to be deflected from.

innerSpaceman 08-24-2008 08:53 AM

And you see how much this thread is about Obama's vice-president choice.

Um, can we merge, please?

scaeagles 08-24-2008 10:40 AM

I don't even see a point in merging....I think this one should just die.

He's a Republican. It's a no-brainer.

Even with the cheat notes, the guy was superficial and inarticulate.

Edited to add: Oh, Biden.

Excellent choice.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised then about the whining. You know -democrats - a no brainer. And without a teleprompter, Obama sounded stupid and confused.

Now, do I necessarily believe that? No. But if the quoted poster is going to post in a deliberately insulting and generalizing way, I can't resist responding in kind to show how stupid it was. As BTD alluded to and ISM agreed with in another thread, this has become too commonplace here.

Let's see now. Joe Biden and Barak Obama have law degrees from good schools. You know what they call a war hero who graduated almost at the bottom of his Naval Academy class? John McCain.

scaeagles 08-24-2008 11:09 AM

I could reply that I've read that Biden got lower grades than Bush, but what's the point? Don't think I'm going to out do you in the area of pissiness.

Simply not worth the effort.

Hey, scaeagles, local Dem Party picnic at the park today. Let's go have a free burger and root beer together.

scaeagles 08-24-2008 11:56 AM

Weren't you at a Ronald Reagan rally I was at in 1984 in Sacramento?

BarTopDancer 08-24-2008 11:57 AM

You two should go have a Coke

Or get a room. :p

scaeagles 08-24-2008 11:58 AM

I always pictured that commercial as MBC and me....but I don't think he loves me anymore.

wendybeth 08-24-2008 03:06 PM

Awww, McCain is now saying that Obama snubbed Clinton in his choice. Nice of him to be so concerned about her feelings- I'm sure it's not a calculated, pathetic and lame maneuver to piss off her followers so they'll go with him.

I see nothing wrong with having a VP thread so long as it relates to the VP choice. If anyone else wants to merge threads I'm good with it, but I kind of like having them separate.

scaeagles 08-24-2008 03:30 PM

What? McCain is being political in a campaign? NO!

Alex 08-24-2008 03:43 PM

There used to be a guy around here that complained about every topic being confined to a few general threads. I wonder what happened to him?

innerSpaceman 08-24-2008 04:48 PM

you gonna monitor this thread for Bidenhood, wenchy? So far it's running about 20% Biden and 80% Obama, but let's have anarchy!!!

BarTopDancer 08-24-2008 04:50 PM

Let's merge all threads. It'll be like the SOOOO thread but for every single topic we can ever discuss.

innerSpaceman 08-24-2008 09:03 PM

Yay, and let's just call it A Whole Lotta LoT!
