Star Trek prequel
Looks like we haven't had a thread on this yet.
Photos! Not much is given away, and it seems that these are from a forthcoming real trailer. Looks good so far :snap: though Spock does seem Syler-ish in that photo, heh. |
They nailed young Kirk, though. At least in that heavily airbrushed/photoshoped publicity art.
|
Oh my lord....that shot of Spock strangling the guy IS SYLER!!!!!!!!!!!
RUN AWAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Hee hee. I had to look up who Syler was. How Not Afraidish of me.
:D I can attest firsthand how strict the security around this movie was on the Paramount lot. Mega presidential like security. Even the guy I met and had lunch with who helped on the set was a sweating fool when I tried to get some info out of him. ;) |
They filmed a chunk of this in Kern County.
I can't wait. I am a closet Trekie. |
! kdjf;a!!!
I am very, verrrry excited for this to come out... Yeah, the photo does look a bit more like Sylar, but other publicity shots have looked less so. I'm also thinking I need to check my mailbox. I seem to get my EW later than I did in Cali, but it's just gotta be there by now! |
I love you.
You hurt me. Deeply. I forgave and for a short time, you gave love back Then you hurt me again. Still, I could not keep myself away from you. But you hurt and you hurt. It took time but I moved on, filling the hole you left with others who love me more. Now you want back in. I'm not sure. I've been fooled before. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me six or seven times..... |
Spock is Syler!!!!!!
I can't wait. I hope I'm not disappointed. |

Some pics Not sure if they're the same as the others as I can't see those for some odd reason. |
Ok, I think I'm done looking at pictures. Spoilorz and all. That one of Spock choking that dude is so damn Syler though.

It's just a still photo, but even though it's a strangulation thing ... um, a little too much emotion on the face for Spock. To the extent he stays deadpan, I think Sylerisms can be avoided. But WTF, Spock doesn't strangle people. Simple Vulcan neck pinch will do. I call shenanigans.
|
Unless the younger Spock is more in tune with his half human side than his Vulcan side.
|
Perhaps the story takes place during an earlier rutting season.
|
Yep, it better be Pon Far. In fact, I'd kinda like a kitchen-sink plot.

Thanks, that's why I haven't gotten my last two EWs. They stopped sending it. F***. |

From rumours I have heard, this movie messes around with the established time line quite a bit.
|
I love reading threads where I don't understand a thing about the discussion. I have heard of USPS though.
:p |
Okay, showing both my geekiness and my age here. This would be the young Spock. In the first pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone..." we see the young spock openly smiling while playing with the musical plants on an alien planet.
Perhaps he was not as disciplined as a youth? |
Heheh, or perhaps Number One was the cool logical, albeit human, at that point and Spock was a barely thought-out alien character about whom nothing was yet imagined outside of pointy ears. TeeHee.
I would Love if the new movie played off that, and somehow posited a way for emotional Spock to transition to proper Vulcan Spock ... but somehow I doubt that's what's going on when Syler, er, Spock is strangling that dude with obvious glee and malice. |
My problem is that the whole gimmick is too much like Muppet Babies. This idea that if you take a specific group of adults forming a group at one point in their life they were always in that group.
It would be like a Cheers prequel showing they all went to the same high school and had the same interpersonal dynamics. Maybe it'll all be plausibly explained why the bridge crew of the Enterprise would all be together 15 years earlier but I have to admit that I can't find the energy to care much. I'm sure I'll see it because I've seen then all, but it is out of habit not desire. |
Alex, I feel the same way. I can understand the sequels having the same characters, but the prequel? Not so much. I understand that people like to see familiar characters, but I like to think sci-fi fans can handle a bit more. Keep the same theme, but for pete's sake, get some new characters. Maybe one or two cameos, maybe show how they came to be a group, something like that, but dude.

FYI....
There is a Star Trek Trailer Before Quantum of Solace. I think it was the best part of the movie, but that's more of a comment on the 007 flick than the Star Trek Trailer. |
