Far-off destinations...

Keep looking for trips in far-off destinations for 2009. Thinking about Spain, maybe spending time in the south. Maybe, going to Tomatina at the end of August...

Then, I begin to think about the South of France, and all that we could do there. What about Greece and its beautiful islands. Maybe Mexico... yeah, we could go see ruins, and the beach, and loveliness all around us... Then there's Peru and its promises of adventure. I even looked into a Tokyo trip, though I'm not sure that's what I'm feeling.

Anyone else dreaming about far-off destinations?

Yes.

I know several people in Hawai'i that love, love going to Tahiti. I'd love to see it. Maybe soon? Who knows.

blueerica 10-16-2008 03:07 PM

OOoho, Tahiti!

Ghoulish Delight 10-16-2008 03:10 PM

I can highly recommend Scotland. On the south of Spain front, Granada's my favorite.

BarTopDancer 10-16-2008 03:21 PM

I'm looking into Ireland instead of NY.

JWBear 10-16-2008 03:23 PM

Bill and I have been talking Paris...

Ghoulish Delight 10-16-2008 03:41 PM

If you do end up in the UK, I highly recommend you take advantage of museum cafes for lunches. Easily the best meals we had.

We're not obsessive or anything, but we have our vacations planned out for the next three years.

2009: WDW and a Disney cruise in the Caribbean.
2010: Vancouver, BC for the Winter Olympics.
2011: Inaugural cruise of the third DCL ship.
2012: Europe? Japan? Who knows.

Ghoulish Delight 10-16-2008 03:45 PM

We're likely to stay domestic in 2009, but we're also thinking of going to Florida in 2010, possibly to catch the launch of the final space shuttle mission.

BarTopDancer 10-16-2008 03:47 PM

If I can get in contact with my cousins I may end up in BC for the Olympics.

That reminds me, I should get their contact info from my mom.

Kevy Baby 10-16-2008 04:17 PM

I've been dreaming of visiting Encino

Ghoulish Delight 10-16-2008 04:23 PM

You'll be very disappointed to learn that it was just a movie - Brenden Fraser is not frozen in ice there.

Stan4dSteph 10-16-2008 05:41 PM

Always.

I know Heidi and I have discussed the UK, as she has never been, and Paris, as neither of us have. And Greece. Beyond that, I know I would like to travel to India and Egypt and Kenya/Tanzania, and I know that she has other countries on the wishlist as well. We might not get to all of them in 2009. Though it is looking like we might spend Thanksgiving 2009 in Milan.

It's been far too long since I've left the country. Part of the reason has been Thurston, the other part has been the dollar's demise against other currencies. I have 2 trips planned for 2009 and both are in California! To places I've been!

lashbear 10-16-2008 06:48 PM

You know me: it doesn't really matter

Lashies, I actually looked up fares to Oz... I may try to go, but I'm guessing I need to not be looking so far in advance. Perhaps prices will drop... but I'm thinking... :)

I'd like to revisit Venice for about a week sometime. And I'm still dying to see Deia, Mallorca. Still haven't been to Greece or the Cinque Terre in Italy, nor England's Lake District, Wales, Ireland, or Spain.

JWBear 10-17-2008 10:25 AM

I want to go back to Wales. Bill wants to go to the Isle of Man (where his family is from). We both want to go to Scotland.
