Love That Hat !!

Well, Today was Melbourne Cup day - the BIG horse-race of Australia, where the whole country comes to a complete standstill at 3pm to watch, and the state it's held in (VIC) gets a public holiday.

Traditionally, "Fashions On The Field" are always of huge importance, and many workplaced have their own fashion parades and Hat Parades.

Today I broke the mold.

In my hand-made creation (yes, really) in a style I can only describe as "Cecil Beaten" (Spelling deliberate) I wowed the folks, winning the "Most Creative" category.

Here's the hat in question (Apologies for the blurring for Privacy):

That looks like a Moulin Rouge dancer's petticoat, Lash.

But, hey- snaps for carrying it off!

Easter Parade on Steroids and Methamphetimine!

I want a shot of the back! That's one bad hat dude!

Positively Hepburnesque!

Audrey, not Katherine.

I thought yuo were talking about William Hepburn.

I am surprised at your workplace, though. I expected more kangaroos and koala bears in the background. And shouldn't there be corks hanging from the brim of your hat? I have no idea why i should think that, I just saw it somewhere. Is it to keep your hat from sinking to the bottom of the river when you're out crocodile hunting?

My impression of the land down under may need to be retooled (as I spread a bit of Vegemite on a ThinKrisp, "Mmm, tastes like brekky in Australia!")

And where's the barbie to throw the shrimp on?

Why would you want to do that? They're such a small target, and the shrimp would just slide off. Perhaps it might work if you coat the dolls in a sticky subsance....

Oh my gosh. An Edwardian hat that is not just "as big as," but BIGGER THAN, a card table.

SzczerbiakManiac 11-04-2008 01:45 PM

I'm not sure if it's bigger than it is gay or the other way around, but either way, I love it!
