Obama Wins Presidency!!

McCain Concedes the Election:

"Barack Obama swept to victory as the nation's first black president Tuesday night in an electoral college landslide that overcame racial barriers as old as America itself."

First story here

This should be an interesting time.......

Kevy Baby 11-04-2008 10:37 PM

Yeah - another election thread!

Honestly, the best any president can do is try. Congress is its own many headed hydra which can be near impossible to tame.

I've always found it ironic that the smallest coffee is the "Tall"

Nov 5th is always a good day to start limiting expectations....

Classy post. I'm looking forward to seeing action as well.

I'm seriously ready for some post-election unclenching. I'm waiting for the "Obama is the AntiChrist" crap to blow over on another board I read so I can resume posting there.

Life is hard when you're a second amendment Dem.

Well, that's what you get for posting republicansbackwardsrus.com

Princess Dala 11-05-2008 03:18 PM

Not even close. :P It's a costuming site.

bewitched 11-06-2008 11:19 AM

Olivia and I had talked about writing in Hillary Clinton's name (I let her commandeer my vote). As the election drew closer she started talking more about Obama...we had a discussion discussing the pros and cons (being able to vote for whomever you want to in this country vs. history). In the end, she chose to vote for Obama. I am happy for her (and me) that looking back, she will feel as though she was a part of history.

If McCain's concession speech were as bitter as his campaign

Gemini Cricket 11-06-2008 12:19 PM

I was just thinking if Obama didn't win, would it have meant that his girls wouldn't have gotten a puppy?

:D

That's a good question, were there any First Cats?

Ghoulish Delight 11-06-2008 12:32 PM

What kind of puppy should the First Puppy be?, make your pointless vote heard!

I suspect the puppy was a reward for a job well done during the campaign. It's got to be hard on kids to go through that.

I do hope they rescue a dog.

Much easier to potty train when you have "staff". :D

(Me too, on the rescue)

Gemini Cricket 11-06-2008 12:57 PM

It would make a powerful statement for them to rescue a dog. I think lots of people would do the same.

Andrew 11-06-2008 01:01 PM

I voted for the rescue dog, but I like the terrier -- "so he can pal around with it".

Motorboat Cruiser 11-06-2008 01:21 PM

Don't know how many South Park fans there are here, but for those who are, I highly recommend this week's new episode concerning the election. They skewer it, like every other subject, in their own inimitable way. :)

SacTown Chronic 11-06-2008 01:32 PM

Hey Obama you're so fine
You're so fine, you blow my mind
Hey Obama!

Scrooge McSam 11-06-2008 01:35 PM

You look cute in that skirt, Sac!

SacTown Chronic 11-06-2008 01:36 PM

I know.

Was it more than 2 jokes drawn out to half an hour like the first few episodes this season (or a full hour in the case of the 2-parter)? Because I've been unimpressed with them up to this point.

mousepod 11-06-2008 03:01 PM

Without giving away the parody, I agree with MC that this week's South Park is well worth a watch.

Minor spoiler:
Spoiler:
They skewer the rabid Obama and McCain supporters, while creating a completely fictional (and fun) story around the two candidates.

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 11-06-2008 03:29 PM

I was too tired to watch last night when NM sent me a text, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

In other news, I just came across a user submitted response to an article that said: Perhaps it will take few more months for them to realise that he's just Dubya with a smoother line in patter.

Boggling.

I heard on NPR this afternoon that the Obamas have already stated that whatever kind of dog they decided on, they planned to get a rescue. The HSUS has said that they will do their best to hold them to their commitment.

Good for them!

Ugh, I keep making the mistake of reading user comments on articles. I need to stop.

Today's doozy was, "Why is it that anytime someone disagrees with Osama...I mean Obama, they're labeled a bigot?" Yeah, that'll dissuade me from calling you a bigot, bigot.

Totally: I just don't understand why people can't spell "realize" correctly!

Cadaverous Pallor 11-06-2008 09:11 PM

Sorry everyone, that South Park sucked. Two jokes. Funny for a second. Gotta admit, Sarah Palin as operative, kinda funny. But "the kids can't get help from their idiotic parents" bit is so freaking old on that show.

This season is pissing me off.

Not Afraid 11-06-2008 10:14 PM

Obama is going to get his daughter a puppy and he's going to go through a rescue! He's a HERO!

Motorboat Cruiser 11-07-2008 12:29 AM

eh, we liked the South Park. To each his (or her) own. :) I do agree that this season has been lacking, but I thought this one was more in line with last season.

Morrigoon 11-07-2008 02:08 AM

Kevy: I think it's Single Action Shooter Society or somesuch. Basically old-fashioned gun shooting as an excuse to get dressed up for the appropriate time. Costumer events are funny like that ;)

(It's like the NRA for costumers, I think)

I find that 80% of them are of no use to me what so ever....
