Slightly used, smallish gas grill for the backyard. Cheap.

If anyone know of someone who is upgrading to a newer grill and has a smaller one in decent condition, let me know. I'm tired of coals and I would grill a LOT more if I had propane. The area we have to put it in in now terribly large, so no behemoth necessary.

Dang...we gave one away after the garage sale in August. Wish I'd known then.

You can get those little tabletop size ones at Smart n Final or Rite-aid, they also carry the small propane canisters. They're around 20 bucks. The problem I have with mine is that it will get hot spots and dead areas, so, if I had the space, I'd rather have a (small) full size grill, with the full size canister. The small one is still fine for doing a couple burgers.

I wish you could come get the one my downstairs neighbors have. :evil:

If you don't manage to find a used one, try Big Lots. They have several sizes, some of which are quite small.

Hmm, I'm trying to remember the brand of our grill. We paid $60 for it, it fits in our tiny back porch, and while it does have some problems with cold spots, it's the most efficient gas grill I've ever seen. We've owned it for 6+ years and I have had to fill the propane tank twice. It's uncanny.

ETA: Aha, I remembered. It's a Char-Broil. I think we got it at Home Depot, but I don't think they have that deal anymore.

We use our RoadTrip all the time at home now. I don't think I'll ever go back to charcoal. I just love being able to sautee veggies on a griddle while grilling meat right next to it. And the tops fit right in the dishwasher.

It can be used with full-sized or portable canisters, and can also be used for camping, so it's double useful.

They might even be on sale right now, since it's post season.

You know, a Road Trip might not be a bad idea! It's small enough that it can be put away in off season, we can take it camping, but it still does decent amount of food. I'm going to look at these a bit more.

And, they're nice and compact, with the rectangular shape - good for small spaces. They also make covers for them so you can leave them out and they don't get dirty.

I love my Roadtrip. I got one of those heavy duty plastic deck boxes to store mine in when I'm not using it so it stays clean. And it only takes a few seconds to get it out and pop it up. I think it took longer to get the cover off my old grill, not to mention you get all dirty, than it is to take the roadtrip out. Plus as Disnephile mentioned they have all the different accessories so you can make it a grill, griddle or cookstove.

I got a pretty red Roadtrip Grill today at Sports Authority for a mere $129. Maybe I do like Black Friday. ;)

A question for those of you who have them: Did you get the other grill tops (Griddle, Cookstove) and, if so, did you get them in pairs. I noticed they sell them singularly - which makes sense if you want to do grilling on one side and frying on the other. However, we have a tendency to be cooking for many people all at once.

Did it come with one griddle and one grill already?

If so, I recommend getting an additional one of each, plus one burner.

I also recommend the non-stick instead of the cast iron. The cast iron plates are VERY heavy, and can't be thrown in the dishwasher.

It came with 2 grills.

Most of the time, for just the two of you, you'll probably end up using one of each of the grills and griddle. The latter is perfect for stir-frying or sauteeing veggies while the meat is cooking, or used as a warming plate to keep stuff hot while you're still grilling.

We're going to get the cover for ours and a full-sized tank to keep it set-up all the time on our patio for convenience. But, if space is an issue, it sets up in about 5 minutes. :)

I'm planning on getting a full-size tank ans an extension hose as well as a cover for it. It will probably live in the backyard most of the year.

Come to think of it, I think we ended up with a 3rd griddle plate somehow, which is still in its box. I'll have Ken check the garage tonight and if you want it, you're welcome to it.

I'd be happy to buy it from you. The weight of the griddle ups my shipping costs quite a bit.

Sports Chalet carries a couple of the inserts, but I don't remember which ones.

We still need a burner plate, so if they're the same price and you're already ordering or picking them up somewhere, I'd love to swap (and I'll cover the extra shipping, if necessary).

I only have one burner and one griddle plate. I want to get the non-stick ones as mine are all cast iron and weigh a ton. I have seen some of the plates at Big 5. I odered the burner off Amazon and I want to say it ended up being around $20 total.

I have the big tank and adaptor as well. Those you can get at home depot or wherever. I like having mine in the deck box as I can keep all the accessories and tanks in there as well. Keeps it all clean and it's easy to pop out and use when I need to.
