How to convert an M4V to QuickTime or burn to DVD
I purchased a short film off of iTunes Store and would like to be able to show it on my TV. I've been looking for a way to either burn it to DVD or at the very least, convert it to QuickTime. Does anyone here know a way to do that without forking out a big chunk of change? My googling has not been fruitful.

How big is the file? I can do it for you.
|
Unfortunately, if you purchased it from the iTunes store (instead of illegally downloading it), the DRM protection generally prohibits you from burning to a DVD.
Out of curiosity, what's the film? |

Will that software work for Day of the Mold???
|
It might.
:) |
If that works on True Blood - I'll totally love you! Can't get my husband to watch it with me because "it's on the computer" and not the big tv. (I joke with him that he has no trouble watching porn that way - but whatever.) And I totally need someone to OMG with after the episode is over. ;)

I see... they want to make me wade through several screens of stuff and ads before I get to the download. Was that 3 different screens there? Or did I just take the long way?
|
I had to go through 3 or 4 screens before I could finally download the software, but I'm glad I did.
When I get home from work, I'll upload the exe file and post a direct link to it. |

Thank you for the file Isaac.
Unfortunately, SUPER does not appear to support the conversion of m4v files. :( |
Hmm....I converted an M4V to an MPG before..
I'll have to search through my computer programs. |
I've got the file, and I'm running it through my encoder right now. Not sure what will happen, because it really didn't like it... it kept telling me to open it only through iTunes.
However, it does appear to be compressing something... I'll know in about a half hour if it worked. |

I wonder if it is another format and somebody just changed the extension in an effort to get it to work somewhere (I've run into that on video before). Since you've had trouble and the program Isaac recommended didn't work, I am starting to suspect that. Or the file might be corrupted just enough to cause problems. |
Regardless of how it may eventually turn out, I really appreciate everyone's suggestions and/or work on this project of mine!

I've had a lot of trouble trying to convert or otherwise use .m4v's from iTunes before. In the end, the only way I was able to do it was through screen capture software. I used Snapz ProX, but there might be better as I didn't research it exhaustively. And I think Snapz might only be available for Mac.
|
What exactly is the movie you're trying to convert? Perhaps there's another version available...

Streaming versions exist and I can easily save that to .flv, but I need something of higher quality because this is going to be displayed on a movie theater screen. |
Ok, I'm trying again now that my computer is "authorized" by iTunes.
There's a codec that they add to their files. I'm trying to find a way around that codec. And, it's a bitch. But, keep your fingers crossed! |
