New Splash logs a bust?

If you've yet to hear, Splash Mountain has new logs with an additional row in the back that is big enough for two smaller people. Making each log able to hold up to 7 people.

Last week they were filling the logs. (All seven people when possible.)
But today, I went on the single rider line and noticed that the CM loading people wasn't putting anyone in the back seat. At first I was a little pissed because there was a decent wait for the the Single Rider line and there were plenty of people waiting to fill the seats. After about 5 minutes I realized that there had not been one peron in any of the back seats since I had started waiting.

Finally, I was called to be seated and I asked the CM why they weren't seating people in the back. She said that the boats were back-heavy and sometimes wouldn't make the turns; and they broke down several times last week because of this.:rolleyes:

How does a log break down?

€uroMeinke 03-28-2005 11:39 PM

Log jam

Kevy Baby 03-28-2005 11:39 PM

Or constipation...

It wasn't really clear. (I was getting in the log and didn't have extra time to talk.) But she made it sound like the logs had been getting stuck on some of the turns (maybe one in particular) when there was too much weight in the back.

So, like, me and Bornieo shouldn't ride together back there?

They're more of guidelines...;)

Cadaverous Pallor 03-28-2005 11:54 PM

Bwahahahahahah!!!!

All that money....all the time the ride was down.....*wipes laughter tears away*

I swear, it's like the place is run by amateurs. Don't they have engineers and such to catch these things???

The flume was not designed for logs with side by side seating.

Gee, I'm surprised this isn't working.

Does this log make me look fat?

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 03-29-2005 12:05 AM

Ah, someone mentioned my name.

How special...

So, how many LoTers will it take to sink a log?

I'll be taking bets starting now.

I was there tonight as well. Also did Splash Mtn. single rider. Also noticed the same thing, but didn't want to ask. Around what time were you there? I rode at like 10pm.

That's very interesting to me...
When the child and I were there for the Tiki meet we rode splash..
the cm seated us in the front..
"Sir, if you dont mind, we'd rather NOT sit in the front seat. I know my son is short, but he'd really rather not."
The CM finds a couple of gals and puts us back in line. New CM takes his place.. I have no idea why.
"Sir, would it be alright if my son and I rode in the back?"
"sorry, I cant do that"

Okay, so the three logs ahead of us, had a mother and son in the back seat. One of them, they stopped, asked the child how old he was, 4, and he was then asked to move to another seat and put Dad in the back.

But when our log was loaded, a young couple up front, then the child, then me, they left the back seat open altogehter.
I'm confused.

Personally, I would have felt better being able to touch my child without trying to loose my teeth

So does this mean that Splash actually has a LOWER capacity now? Am I right in thinking that they added one seat in the back, so now that they don't load those two seats, they've lost one per log?

No, they were still loading 5 people per log. The new logs have an added row which holds (or was supposed to hold) two people. "6 rows / 7 people" was the idea.
But, since the logs are now slightly longer, there could be fewer total logs running at once.
