Moonliners DLR Trip 11/23/08 (photos!) It was kind of a last min thing, but I had a wonderful trip to DLR today. Here are just a few of the photos I took. Even on a Sunday, Traffic was heavy as I headed South on 5. Still it was not too long before I made it to the Parking Structure. I nabbed the first parking spot I found and jumped onto the tram. I made it! First stop, a grand circle on the Railroad. Then the traditional walk up main street (not too crowded today!) The castle always makes my heart sing! And, going down main street, I was overjoyed to see that Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is back! The new theater they built for him is amazing! What Detail. Although Mr. Lincoln himself has seen better days, that's not the flash he really was that pail. They need to work on that. Plus he never stood up. I wanted to hit splash first, before the lines were too long. (For some reason I could not find any fastpass machines today.) Next up, Dumbo. I'm always a sucker for dumbo. For lunch I tried a new ODV cart. Great themeing. Food not so great. Then over to tomorrowland for a quick spin on autopia. The new SUV is a great addition. It was getting pretty packed by now, so I ducked the crowds by visiting Inovations. Then, sadly it was time to head home. Another great trip comes to an end. |

Those who get to go to that other DLR all the time (to the point where, I daresay, the vast majority of us are just plain tired of it), are likely as envious as I of your trip to the really cool DLR that looks suspciously like our soon to be re-revered nation's capital. |

Great 'trip report' and photo essay, Moon! You know, I was surprised at how clear the air looked, what with all the fires and all. |

hehe Somebody please talk me out of driving to DC in January. |

Cool pictures. Was the museum crowded this weekend? |

Here is the view as you exit the Smithsonian metro stop My goal for the day was a visit to the Lincoln Memorial, on the way you first pass the Washington Monument. And then the WWII Memorial From the WWII it's straight on to the Lincoln. (Notice the pool is slightly frozen over) The National Museum of American History had its grand reopening this weekend after an extensive renovation. Here is something you won't see very often. R2D2 chatting with Betsy Ross. |

Those Disneyland gardners are slacking. The grass is all brown! |

Yeah, I gotta say ... not just the grass being brown ... but after decades of Disneyland, I was appalled at how poorly the National Mall was maintained (admittedly the one time I was in D.C.). Trash everywhere, rickety fencing all falling apart. It was really lame. And the grass was gross. |

 neat! |

Just a note for all you CA dwellers: grass does not stay green through winter. That is all. |
