Wii - Animal Crossing: City Folk + Wii Speak

Does anyone have City Folk with Wii Speak? Or Wii Speak? I'm curious about Animal Crossing and also curious about Wii Speak. It seems like that would come in handy during Mario Kart group plays (and other group plays). Any word if it will be compatible with more than just Animal Crossing? I'm guessing yes but I can't find info on it - not that I've looked that hard.

lizziebith 12-01-2008 11:52 PM

I have both...haven't hooked up the wii speak as nobody I know has it yet. The AC:CF game is very similar to the Wild World version, but is still fun. I'm looking forward to visiting friends' towns and picking fruit and goin' fishin'! :D I haven't heard what future games will utilize wii speak yet, sorry.

BarTopDancer 12-01-2008 11:56 PM

I haven't played any version of AC before. I just bought a DS too and was thinking maybe I'd just get AC for the DS instead. I know you can port your characters around from Wii to Wii, Wii to DS and DS to Wii. Just wish there was a way to play DS games on the Wii. Then again I wished the same thing for prior Nintendo systems.

lizziebith 12-01-2008 11:59 PM

I used to play my...what was before the DS...??? LOL anyway I used to play those on my game cube. There was an attachment you could hook up to the base and pop your little portable games in. Fun! My favorite version of Animal Crossing is still the original Game Cube version -- so fun! I still play it :-)

Disneyphile 12-02-2008 12:11 AM

AC is horribly addicting on the DS.

We're planning on getting City Folk when we get our Wii for Christmas.

And... um.... I hope LauraGar is reading this thread. She already wants to kill me for pushing the crack that is AC onto her. ;) And, now, I've been pushing for it for the Wii.

We could have a whole LoT community going by the end of December!

Hmm...the thought just struck me that I want a Wii too! Funny how things work like that. ;)

Morrigoon 12-02-2008 06:05 AM

It looks at least a little interesting to me too

Betty 12-02-2008 06:53 AM

AC is a game my kids have requested for Christmas. Glad to see it's been pre-approved by the LoT folks. :)

Stan4dSteph 12-02-2008 07:38 AM

I'm thinking I might have to get one of these Wii dealios.

Alex 12-02-2008 07:40 AM

The advertising on Animal Crossing doesn't seem that great. I still have no idea what kind of game it is other than that it apparently lets to grown women gossip while sitting around their immaculate homes.

BarTopDancer 12-02-2008 10:26 AM

It looks like a cross between SIMS and Second Life. I'm interested in it because I generally suck at skills games like Mario and Zelda, though I still want to play Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy it's a huge waste of money for me to buy these games and then get frustrated and never play again.

I think I'll be picking it up for the Wii.

Ghoulish Delight 12-02-2008 10:40 AM

Tanget - Rock Band 2 for the Wii is getting close to release. There's a lot of weird conflicting info. Amazon shows Dec. 22nd as the release date for the software. I've seen Dec. 30th as the date for it bundled with instruments. And I've seen reference to a "special edition" bundle, possibly Jan 6th, but I don't know if there's anything "special" about that or if it's just the instruments.

Close. ;)

It lets grown women (and some men) sit around their homes while building their little virtual home and growing perfect gardens, collecting furniture and clothing, socializing with animal neighbors, catching fish, shooting balloons from the sky with a slingshot, catching butterflies and other bugs, and celebrating festivals, holidays, and seasons in real time.

It's like this perfect little addicting utopia that allows us to be kids again. :D

blueerica 12-03-2008 02:01 PM

Hmmm...

Alex... my sentiments almost exactly.

Off-topic, but only slightly: Do you (collectively, of course) recommend Rock Band or Guitar Hero (the one with the full band kit) for the Wii? What's the difference, if anyone's tried out/looked into both?

Ghoulish Delight 12-03-2008 02:13 PM

I don't know that there's particularly much gameplay difference, but I recommend Rockband for 3 reasons.

1) CP's brother who works the electronics department at Toys R Us says people are continually returning Guitar Hero drum kits because they keep breaking.

2) Rockband will have Beatles songs at some point (don't know if it will be this version, but even if it's a later version, if you want continuity of staying within the franchise AND Beatles songs, Rockband's your choice)

3) Rockband is developed by Harmonix, who originally developed Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2. Guitar Hero 3 and Guitar Hero World Tour are developed by Neversoft (Activision) who retained the rights but broke with Harmonix after disputes over hardware. Thus, while I have played neither enough to have any real grounds for this, I trust Rockband to have the edge in whatever ways the two are creatively/technically distinguished since it's the brilliant folks who conceived the idea to begin with working on it. (though I'm surely biased since my college roommate works for Harmonix).

This is NOT a rant!!!!! Please read on if you want to know why I haven't posted on LOT lately. I think an intervention is needed.

The new crack is AC Wild World. My husband and I sit for hours maintaining our little worlds. Its not Hi how are you? Its how much is your turnips selling for at Nook's? Do you fall into a pit fall seed today? Have you harvested today? How many bells do you have in the bank? Who visited your town today? Today, I have the Shrink, what emotion with I get today?

We don't have normal conversation anymore thanks to DP,our favorite friend in the world!!!!!!

And, NO we are not getting AC City Folks. If we did, our dogs would starve and I would need diapers. The little red light tells me its time to stop playing.

I have to schedule normal things to do. Like read a book, pay bills, let the dogs out. I have lost 2 months out of my life, thank God my house is paid for, and I only need two more fossils.

Do you know the secrets to Feng Shui the ACWW way? Just ask my husband. Do you want to catch the high bell fish? You will need to know about Feng Shui.

Oh, you'll assimilate... oh, yes you will.... I'll have to give you a City Folk tour sometime when you're over and least expect it. MUWAHAHAHA.

Oh, and may I interest you in a side of Harvest Moon? ;)

from our beloved Ms Ponine (having connectivity/log in issues)

Rumor has it that the Ponine household is getting ACCF w/ Wii Speak from Mr. Claus himself.
At which time, someone else from LoT will NEED to have Wii speak, ahem <DP> , so that they have someone to talk to.
After they install, the Wii Chat channell will be next.
:D

lizziebith 12-03-2008 03:20 PM

Time to shake some trees and see what falls out! :D

Apparently you aren't the target market, because I hardly ever buy video games (except as gifts for Alex) and yet I find myself interested in this one.

We totally plan on buying the ACCF/Wii Speak bundle. :D

I'll never leave the couch!

BarTopDancer 12-03-2008 04:13 PM

After constant homework and studying for the last 13 years I want something mindless to do for awhile.

*ducks*

I'm having lots of fun with my ACCF. There are some differences though, like you can't save your turnips on a table and save them for next week. Christmas Eve was lots of fun going to see the reindeer and getting lots of Jingle presents. I really want some fruit besides pears though. I can't wait to join up with everyone!

Hmmm, I wonder if my home will magically become immaculate if I buy AC. :D

My town, Darkride, has oranges, so I'll be happy to trade! It's so ironic that my city was built on an orange grove after naming it as an homage to Disneyland. Heh.

Unfortunately, I missed the reindeer since we didn't open the games until Christmas Day. :(

I'll pull up my friend code in the next day or two so we can visit each other. :)

I did not get the microphone bundle though. I figure I'll add that in later if enough people I know are playing ACCF. :)

cirquelover 01-04-2009 09:20 PM

I pulled up my codes but we don't have a place for ACCF codes on the doc, let alone I'm trying to figure out how to comfigure it on page 2 because page 1 is full. I'll ask Gary or I'll be asking someone here to help a gal out:blush:

I went ahead and added Animal Crossing to the document and removed Super Smash Brothers since no one had information for it. The document works very similar to Excel with the inserts and deletes.

Disneyphile 01-04-2009 11:15 PM

I've added mine to the sheet. :)

Disneyphile 01-05-2009 12:25 AM

Oh, and I should also warn that I am far from "family friendly" when it comes to teaching my animals new "catch phrases". They usually phonetically swear and/or make innuendoes.
