Project Pugway

After making Thurston's Halloween costume and then making some gifts for my Secret Santa on my Pug Board, I decided Thurston needed a warm wrap-around (it's COLD!). Plus, I got a new sewing machine and I had to try it out on a thicker fabric. I fear I might not stop! (Thurston fears I might not stop!) So, here's pics from the latest episode of
PROJECT PUGWAY!

Am I still handsome when I wear this coat and sniff Rupert No Balls' butt?

He's also wearing one of his Christmas Collars from my Secret Santa.

Here are the other three I made (I made the jungle collars as well).

They all reverse to this fabric:

I think we need to hold an intervention.

(Actually, those are adorable!)

No intervention necessary. I say NA should make some cha-ching from her mad skillz.

SO GREAT, NA! :D

ETA - I would buy a calendar of pug-in-couture pictures. What a breed!

ETAA - A friend of mine has pointed out to me that puppy and kitty pictures "make all your testosterone vanish."

Those are really cute. Very nice work!

Oooh, so cute! Boomer wants one!

You could start another business, you know, in all your spare time. ;)

Jungle collars!

Jungle Balls,
Jungle Balls,
Jungle all the why?

KAWAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII :D

So cute! You should totally Etsy these.

You know, it's really cold up here (around 0 degrees this morning) and our little Porky (Peke-Yorkie) could use one of those cute little outfits........

:D

Those are adoreable, and not just cause Thurston is such a nice model. :snap:

So cute! I wonder if cats would wear them...

madmonkeygirl 12-16-2008 03:11 PM

Not sure about cats but that is just too cute. My girls wear their sweaters and jackets when they go to my parents house since it is freezing up there and Lucy is the one who tends to freeze more than Ethel does.

Of course Thurston already knows this...

I found this in the latest issue of mental_floss magazine:

If you're looking for a best friend in desperate situations, the pug might be your safest bet. Bred as a lapdog in Imperial China and introduced to Europe in the 16th century, the pug has a track record of pitching in during tough times. William II's pug, Pompey, is credited with warning the monarch of an impending Spanish attack and saving the Netherlands in the process. Empress Josephine's pug, Fortune, was employed to sneak secret messages under his collar to Napoleon as a way of keeping the Emperor in good spirits while his wife was jailed. Royals have had good luck with the breed, but maybe that's because the dogs forever have the monarchy on their mind. Purebred pugs have a vertical wrinkle on their foreheads that resembles the Chinese character for "prince."

It's nice to see that pugs had SOME purpose in the past. Even their Peke cousin was used to carry the train of the Emperor's robes but the pug - pure lap dog. What a purpose in life.

"I loaf in a highly decorative and charming manner."

Yes, that's pretty much Thurston's motto. Maybe I should make him a shirt that says that.

BTW, it was 46 degrees when we walked this morning. The coat was VERY useful.

Well, the word of the day on the little screen in the elevators in our building made me think of Thurston

Sentinal

The little pug became a sentinal, barking at shadows and chasing squirels.
Of course, this sounds more like terrier behavior to me.
