A day in the life of LoT

Tuesday January 20th 2009 - Noon local time

Take a photo of where you are post it here along with a description of your entire day. It will be interesting to see how the various members of our global community spends a single day in time.

Who's in?

Ghoulish Delight 01-12-2009 08:22 AM

Gee, where might you be at that time on that day? Show off.

Moonliner 01-12-2009 08:30 AM

Guilty as charged.

There is so little in my life that's interesting I gotta take my opportunities when they present themselves.

Besides I have a new camera I need to take for a spin.....

Cadaverous Pallor 01-12-2009 08:37 AM

Yeah, not exactly the average day :) But I'm always game for this kind of thing. Let's hope I don't get distracted by something on TV at that moment. ;)

Just the other day I was thinking about texting all of my twitter friends at one time and asking them to instantly tweet about what they were doing, so everyone could check in at once.

Moonliner 01-12-2009 08:42 AM

I thought Inauguration day would be a good given the interest in the subject around here (and as was point out: Cuz I'm in DC :D )

But I'm open to picking a totally random day/time if that's a more popular choice.

Capt Jack 01-12-2009 09:11 AM

it sounds like it could prove an interesting...dunno...experiment? documentary? bunch of pictures?

if I remember, Im in.

Stan4dSteph 01-12-2009 09:13 AM

I'm in, as long as I remember to bring a camera to work. I'll have to take a photo on the sly, although maybe I will go somewhere else for lunch. I suppose I could go home for lunch that day.

JWBear 01-12-2009 09:17 AM

Noon here? 3:00 DC time. I'll probably be watching the Inauguration Parade, and eating lunch.

BarTopDancer 01-12-2009 09:23 AM

I vote to let Moonie have his chance to show off.

That would be cool. You should totally do it.

bewitched 01-12-2009 09:24 AM

I'm in if I remember.

If it's warm enough, I'll probably be at the dog park. :D

CoasterMatt 01-12-2009 09:45 AM

Sounds fun.

Gn2Dlnd 01-12-2009 09:49 AM

Noonish Tuesday, I'll still have wake-up hair!

katiesue 01-12-2009 10:15 AM

I'm in

€uroMeinke 01-12-2009 10:38 AM

Does it have to be noon? Far more potential for fun pics if the time window is expanded

Capt Jack 01-12-2009 10:49 AM

I will endevour to be in the can at that particular moment :D

Alex 01-12-2009 11:18 AM

Despite the national importance of the day, it currently appears next Tuesday as experienced by me will be of absolutely no interest.

I'm currently scheduled for a BRD review from 11am to 2pm so I'll be in my cube on the phone. I have a total of 13 hours of meetings scheduled that day (though I'll only actually attend six of them).

Normal BART commute in, normal BART commute home. Dinner. Do the NYT crossword around 7pm. In bed aby 10 (I'm trying to shift my sleep schedule to better accommodate my new East Coast centric workload).

Hey look, I already fulfilled the challenge. If I had my camera with me I could post a picture right now that would be indistinguishable from next Tuesday.

Morrigoon 01-12-2009 11:20 AM

This thread reminds me... I forgot to bring my camera on this trip with me :(

I like this idea a LoT, especially with the "historical event" angle. And as I have no idea where I'll be on that day (probably at home watching the inauguration on tv), even more fun wondering if I should go somewhere on purpose.

lashbear 01-12-2009 12:22 PM

HAw Haw !! I'm gonna get to post first !! :p

...and it'll be a boring pic of me at my desk...

So will mine, most likely.

bewitched 01-19-2009 11:12 PM

So...tomorrow noon, right? Be there or be square. :D

Oooo, two hands drawing a "dashed" square would be such a cool emoticon.

This was me, sick at home, eating my chicken soup in front of the LoT - it's good for the throat !

Wait... Oh well, picture me in front of that wall eating chicken soup and you have it.

Morrigoon 01-20-2009 01:22 AM

What's the chance I'll even be up when the swearing in happens? 8:45am? Better set the TiVo, I guess.

lizziebith 01-20-2009 01:44 AM

I haven't been up that early lately, but I'm setting my alarm for tomorrow. History, baby! Oh and I think he meant the inaugural noon, which for us on the Left Coast is 9 am. My camera is out, but I won't be in the pic at that hour...well maybe part of me will. ;)

Moonliner 01-20-2009 07:10 AM

Today is the day!

You can do noon eastern or noon your time or if you're € whenever you like.

Just pick a photo from today and post!

I'm off to the National Mall now, I'll post my photo later today...

blueerica 01-20-2009 08:31 AM

I'm dressed all fancy for the occasion. Okay.. I'm not. But I'll try to take a photo. I'm shooting for 10AM.

Alex 01-20-2009 08:48 AM

I'm glad people are excited but a local radio news lady just said this is the "Woodstock for this generation."

Man I hope not. If so, the Millennial Generation (bleh) will really suck.

blueerica 01-20-2009 09:10 AM

Woodstock for this generation.

Bleh.

Here's mine (a bit late).

blueerica 01-20-2009 10:56 AM

I have some pics of my office gathering in one of our conference rooms to catch a streaming broadcast. Unfortunately, not everyone decided to stop streaming so that we could ALL see it on the big screen. So, it was choppy. Plus, I'm sure there were millions of other working folks doing the same thing.

ETA: Oh, but my computer hates me and I will have to wait until I get home to post the pics.

Stan4dSteph 01-20-2009 11:02 AM

lizziebith 01-20-2009 11:18 AM

I got my feet in the pic...:) What a great day!

BDBopper 01-20-2009 11:23 AM

If i had a camera I would have taken a picture. Alas I don't Sorry.

BarTopDancer 01-20-2009 12:00 PM

JWBear 01-20-2009 12:09 PM

Taken the moment Obama became President (9:00am PST).

Morrigoon 01-20-2009 12:30 PM

My delay was only 1/2 hour off, hehe. So at 11:30am pst, I watched the swearing-in of Obama

lashbear 01-20-2009 12:44 PM

great pics, and the end of an error !!

I hope so. So far that error has lasted twenty years. I pray it is over.

lizziebith 01-20-2009 01:05 PM

In the spirit of the request in the original post, here is my pic from noon local time. I've been surfing most of my favorite sites. Inauguration coverage is still going on in the next room. I'm waiting for the parade. :)

katiesue 01-20-2009 01:09 PM

I forgot to watch - ooops

Here's what I do after lunch.

Morrigoon 01-20-2009 01:12 PM

Fair enough. Here's Noon local time. Not much different from 11:30, except that I opened the door and the dogs are barking at it.

Capt Jack 01-20-2009 01:13 PM

sadly, at that moment the view was the inside of my eyelids. sorta kinda overslept....sorta kinda

mousepod 01-20-2009 01:13 PM

I took my photo at noon local time. After watching the inauguration (with earbuds in - to block out the snarky comments), I'm back at work.

Moonliner 01-20-2009 03:41 PM

Great shots everyone! Thanks to everyone that participated! :snap: :snap:

Here is my Entry, sorry about the up the nostral pose...

I was standing next to the Washington Monument. From that location you can see the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial and White House. It was a great spot to see all the people which was my primary goal for the day.

Andrew 01-20-2009 04:08 PM

You win.

Alex 01-20-2009 04:10 PM

The guy behind apparently really does think Obama is Superman and is watching the skies for his arrival.

Surprisingly, despite the excessive security measures, they did not close Regan airport during the swearing in. The guy is looking at one of several jets that flew by during the event.

lizziebith 01-20-2009 05:10 PM

After the motorcade started I'll admit I was glued to the TV. I watched the whole thing -- every last marching band! It was nice to see the crew of STS 126 at the end! I switched to CSPAN because CNN was driving me crazy with the non-stop chatter. CSPAN was excellent! In about an hour the ball coverage begins, so I'm taking a break from the TV to see if I can get a little work done LOL.

Hmmm, Michelle Obama's suit would look good with my eyes. :D

Gemini Cricket 01-20-2009 09:16 PM

Ufta! I forgot to do this.
But my noon shot would have been me at Zippy's in Hawai'i ordering chili. The ladies behind the counter were checking out my Obama "Hope" t-shirt and were asking where I got it from. And sometime after noon, the picture would have been of me talking to the cashier about why she didn't vote and why she didn't know that there was an inauguration today.

 :D

Goonie ~ So rude of Goofy to be showing Obama his butt on his big day. Either he's being rude or he's presenting... one of the two...

:D

ozron 01-20-2009 09:54 PM

Okay, at the appointed hour I was in the break room watching.

An hour later I was on a tour with some sponsors:

(Not me, I was taking the pictures)

We all met Chendra.

Amazing how enthusiastic they can be about sponsoring an event after this!
:D

CoasterMatt 01-21-2009 12:35 PM

Much later than noon local time (closer to midnight+)

Alex 01-21-2009 02:12 PM

You went to a wedding in a parking lot?

Also, platform shoes better not become a male fashion.
