Anyone else going to the 40th of Haunted Mansion?

This looks like it could be too much fun to pass up, even though it is a bit pricey.

Link to HM event

Anyone else going? Anyone with more info?

Tickets for the packages with out the hotel stays go on sale Wed.

Lots of good merchandise there !! I'd love the dessert plates !

Disneyphile 01-19-2009 05:26 PM

Holy crap. I so need those shoes!

Andrew 01-19-2009 05:29 PM

The 9th is a Wednesday. That makes it pretty much impossible for me unless I wanted to take two days off, which I don't. Too bad.

BarTopDancer 01-19-2009 05:43 PM

I wish.

If this were a patch I'd totally want.

I really want the chess set.

~MS~ 01-19-2009 05:51 PM

I'm not but I'm gifting someone with a ticket for their birthday!

Nice! ^

The groom pins are cute. They amuse me.

Cadaverous Pallor 01-19-2009 07:34 PM

I wasn't super impressed until I saw the chess set and the shoes. Even then, no way I'd be able to spend that much.

Ghoulish Delight 01-19-2009 07:35 PM

Still more interested in the Shag cocktail event.

Alex 01-19-2009 08:21 PM

After about 23 Haunted Mansion merchandise events, I think I would pass even if I did still contain any interest in going to Disneyland. It's time for a Pooh merchandise event.

Ghoulish Delight 01-19-2009 09:24 PM

I'd choose the Shag Cocktail event over this.

mousepod 01-19-2009 09:48 PM

I must be jaded. I have almost zero interest in the event or the merchandise. Perhaps I could start getting excited if Disneyland pretended that the merch was secondary to the event...

lashbear 01-19-2009 11:15 PM

I have to admit, I would be way more tempted if the event included a walking tour of the mansion (especially ground level in the ballroom) - then I would consider flying over just to do that !!

I suppose that would be cool, although there is a certain amount of the magic you wouldn't want to spoil. The ballroom would have no special effects while you are in it of course, but seeing the other side of the glass where the pepper's ghosts originate would be fun to see.

I have only attended one other merchandise event, the last HMH one. I don't buy the merch really. It's the event I go for. Now the SHAG merch I would like some of..... and some of this evengt looks cool also. But where the heck would I put any of it? Unless my house is gothed out, I'm not gonna just put that cool candle holder on my table....

Never mind.

I tried for an hour and a half to get online, but their servers were having problems. By the time I got online, it was sold out.

That sucks!:(

I'm absolutely amazed that every level sold out in less than 2 hours. One of my friends called me to see if I had any "ins". I was sorry to let him down...

Alex 01-22-2009 10:25 AM

I'm always amazed at how many people are willing to pay for the privilege of shopping.

But then I remember Costco and the card in my wallet so I shut up.

~MS~ 01-22-2009 10:50 AM

Add me to the disapointed crew, tried for the hotel package on Tuesday and got shut out, tried for the dearly departed, got shut out, tried for hitchhiker and got on the wait list...but I'm not feeling it.

We come out ahead by shopping at Costco even after accounting for the annual fee. That does include the 2% Executive membership rebate and the variable 1-3% AmEx rebate, so I don't know if we'd still come out ahead without the rebates.

Alex 01-22-2009 11:18 AM

We go to Costco so rarely that I believe on about 70% of our trips we have to pay the renewal fee. I'm pretty sure we've never come close to breaking even and I bet that's true for 90% of members.

But damned if I'll be denied the ability to shop there when I decide I absolutely must have 50 granola bars in a single box.

lashbear 01-22-2009 06:17 PM

50 Granola Bras ?

Alex 01-22-2009 06:18 PM

Dude, your joke has moss growing on it.

lashbear 01-22-2009 07:28 PM

some memes are like wine - they mature with age !

besides, with Toribear & Madz now hanging around, who'll teach the children if we dont ?

Alex 01-22-2009 07:56 PM

By "joke" I meant "penis."

Cadaverous Pallor 01-22-2009 08:04 PM

CoasterMatt 01-22-2009 08:08 PM

I guess Alex did a kilt check...

Double

But in reality, for me this wasn't a shopping privilege but an event. I don't buy any of that stuff with the exception of a pin or something as a token of the evening. Even the parting gifts are usually sold on ebay to help recoup the costs of the tickets.
